Boston & District Canine Society (21 December 2025)

Many thanks to the Committee for the invitation and to my pleasant and efficient stewards (Pat & Amy) who kept proceedings running smoothly.

English Toy Terrier (Black And Tan) My first time judging the breed and I was so impressed with the quality on show today – thank you for such a lovely entry. Temperaments were excellent without exception and all were presented in lovely condition too. Teeth/dentition were excellent throughout and I found colour/markings were acceptable on all entries. Puppy (2,0) 1 – Marsden’s Regalriver Big Bad She Wolf, 9 month bitch, up to size and well balanced with a definite look of quality to her. Typical wedge shaped head with good skull/muzzle ratio and small, dark eye. Well set ears of correct shape and carriage. Nicely crested neck into decent shoulder placement. Gentle curve to her topline which falls away to good round rump and correct tail set and carriage. Typical extended trot on the go around and true out and back. A really lovely puppy – best of luck with her. BPIB. 2 – Bailey & Hancocks’ Lasagesse Fire Woman, another 9 month bitch from a slightly smaller and finer mould. Decent wedge shaped head although perhaps a little deep in stop. Good straight front with enough depth. Correct in topline, rear and tail set. A real live wire today – demonstrating her alert temperament and agility perfectly! Plenty of character on the move, which made her difficult to assess at times, but saw enough to consider her movement typical of the breed. Probably needs a little more time to mature and settle. Special Yearling (2,0) 1 - Pendlebury’s Wykewoks Autumnal Sunsetta of Pendlethrine, lovely breed type and outline, shown in excellent condition and muscletone – I could really imagine this one dispatching vermin! Good head planes and well set ears of correct shape/carriage. Good length of neck and correct in shoulder giving a really typical straight front with neat feet. Gentle curve to her topline onto a beautifully rounded rump, giving a low tail set. Really good sweep to her underline too. Moved very well with good extension and was true up and down. 2 – Marsden’s Regalriver Bag Bad She Wolf. Limit (2,0) 1 – Conway & Oakden’s Spawood Hey Mickey, really nicely balanced and typical in outline. Good wedge to his head with a small dark eye. Has a definite strength to his jaws and good depth under the eye. Correct ear set, shape and carriage, long well arched neck into decent enough shoulders, typical in topline and fall away to his rear. Good underline sweeping up to loin. I thought he was very well put together which showed in his movement today, demonstrating the extended trot well I thought and as true as they come out and back. 2 – Pendlebury’s Ettology Small Gods of Pendlethrine, another really nice dog with a typical outline, shown in really good, hard muscletone. Similar attributes to 1st placed but played up a little on the move which became the deciding factor today. Open (2,0) 1 – Green’s Three Times A Lady, this one sort of stopped me in my tracks when I first looked, I thought her outline was so breed typical she just shouted ETT straight at me! Bold and confident in carriage which makes her extremely difficult to overlook. Has the typical wedge shaped head, with correct ear shape and carriage. Really typical straight front, topped off with a long neck with a graceful arch, well sprung ribs and strong topline with a slight arch from the withers. Strong and sound in rear. All of this came together beautifully on the move, where she tracked up very well while holding her shape and was as true as they come out and back. She never really stood wrongly today – overall I thought her extremely impressive and will watch her progress with interest. BOB. 2 – Dean-Armitt’s Twowayshouse Touch Of Class, another lovely bitch, who was unlucky to meet 1st…blah blah…slightly smaller all through but still looked capable of dispatching vermin. Very alert and attentive which shows her head properties off, well balanced skull/muzzle ratio with small dark eye, ears set well back and carried very well. Correct topline and particularly good round rump emphasizing her decent turn of stifle. Moved very well today with an excellent extended trot. Just preferred the overall shape and bearing of 1st placed today, but a close call.

Afghan Hound Puppy (5,4) 1 – Lloyd & Webster’s Yassir Del Ghyryo (Imp Bel), 8m b/t male, stood alone today but such an impressive puppy, beautifully balanced with an air of arrogance and character. Nicely constructed with good neck into a well laid shoulder, level topline with defined pin bones and well angulated in rear, without any exaggeration. Stood well on large feet with a slight spring to his pastern. Moved with a confident carriage and a definite spring and was true going out and back. A very promising puppy I thought, best of luck with him. Special Yearling (4,2) 1 – Neilly & Moore’s Cloudside Whispering Angel, black bitch with a air of aloofness and dignity to her, scores in head, with good length to both skull and muzzle with the correct slight stop and an expression that looks straight through you. Presented in good coat with a natural saddle. Good reach of neck onto level topline with a well angled croup and plenty of length between hip/hock, without being overdone. Moved well with an upright carriage and the desired spring to her motion. BOB. 2 – Humphreys’ Drishaun Consider Me Taken, brindle, a little more square in outline than 1st placed and generally well put together, not always co-operating with her handler today, good head proportions and a good reach of neck onto well laid shoulders, good bone and spring of rib, well constructed quarters with good turn of stifle and low hock. Moved well enough when she got herself collected. Limit (2,0) 1 - Neilly & Moore’s Cloudside Whispering Angel. 2 – James’ Katanga’s Captain America, slightly more rangy in type than 1st placed. Black dog with lots to like and quite endearing in temperament, one who seems to know his own mind! Good reach of neck, level topline with a natural saddle, good pins and angle to croup, well angulated behind with a low hock. Sound enough on the move but preferred the front extension of 1st placed.

Greyhound Limit (2,0) 1 – Ball’s Boughton Back In Time, brindle bitch of generous proportions and a distinct nobility. Really good reach of neck into a well placed shoulder, well boned with a good spring of pastern, plenty of length when stood naturally and a good width to her thigh. On the move she was sound and accurate. Slightly bored with proceedings today but I felt everything was in the right place with her construction-wise. BOB. 2 – Sawyer’s Inchdoney Memories Une Virgin Mary Aven Stonelaw (Imp Fra), fawn dog of a different type to 1st placed, shown in really muscular condition, good reach of neck and layback of shoulder, firm topline with reasonable length, moved well enough generally but today I felt 1st placed was a little cleaner coming towards me.Special Open Racing/Lure Coursing (5,1) 1 – Clarke’s Shockwave Amber, brindle bitch with plenty of length to her, shown with just the right amount of muscle I felt, clean through the neck and shoulder, forelegs long and straight with good bladed bone, well angled quarters without being overdone. Sound and efficient on the move. 2 – Brown’s Glideaway Poppy, fawn bitch, again with plenty of length, slightly more in muscle than 1st placed, good depth of rib and width to thigh with a low hock, moved well enough today.

Irish Wolfhound 1 – Porter’s Dahmrak’s Riogahn For Lindall (Imp Deu) 11m, very nicely constructed and impressed for size and symmetry, good reach of neck into a decent lay back of shoulder, with a long topline which he held on the move, obviously has some maturing to do but I thought he was very sound and steady for his age, well constructed quarters without being overdone, struggled to get into his stride due to constraints of the ring but was able to demonstrate good extension and drive. BOB/BPIB.
