Carlisle & District Canine Society

Lovely show with lovely, hardworking officers, committee and stewards. Super atmosphere

with generous applause in most instances. At times the uninvited guests of the feathered

variety, keep some of the handlers on their toes, as well as unsettling some of the exhibits. I

must applaud the younger handlers for their calm under pressure, caused by the birds, and

the way in which they calmed their charges. Overall, a great show that I enjoyed immensely

and thank you for the thoughtful judges gift.

JUNIOR HANDLING YEARS 6-11 YEARS 4,1

1 st 158 – Robert Stuart – 10yrs

Young man concentrated on his dog. Very understated. Gaited his dog correctly, answered

breed questions without hesitation, showed teeth well. Smartly dressed and focused. Must

surely have a bright future.

2 nd 177 Arlo Barbi – 7yrs

Another smartly dressed young man. Again, focused on the dog, even though table was as

big as he was! Constantly reassuring the dog, which was nice to see.

3 rd 146 – Elena Stuart – 8yrs

Professionally presented, well-dressed young lady. Just lost out, breaking the golden rule!

That said, she handled her charge well.

JUNIOR HANDLING 12-16 YEARS 2,0

Close call. Could easily have swapped places, just felt 1 st resettled the dog better after a

bird flew over the ring! Handler stayed calm. Both handlers were well-dressed.

1 ST 522 – Isobel Simmoms – 16yrs

Handling an Irish Setter. Well stacked up and patient with dog with birds. Very understated as a handler which I liked and kept calm under pressure when the dogs were distracted by birds.

2 ND 157 – Chantelle Stuart – 14yrs

Another good handler just had ‘a job on her hands’ with the beagle, and was a little too vocal

about it, needs to use her "inner voice' a bit more! Smartly dressed and gaited dog at a good speed.

1 st 15 Denver-Smiths Javladare Mr Boombastic

9mths. Dog. Young male but already showing promise. Would prefer a touch more leg but

has a good forechest. Masculine head, good bone and in excellent, muscled condition.

Good topline and croup and lovely in profile, both moving and in repose. RBOB & BPIB

2 nd 16 Fell’s Taneven Dutch

6mths. Dog. Another lovely youngster. Good bone and feet. Nice topline and croup.

Pleasing head and expression. Good proportions and well-muscled. Just needs to come

together behind on the move.

1 st 20 Martins Jianerot Penelope

9mths. Bitch. In super fit condition, well-muscled. Feminine, with good muzzle and dentition.

Good bone and croup. Topline is ideal. Movement is free and easy, with correct drive.

Attentive bitch that earned BOB today.

Almost 2yrs. Bitch. Conical head, very aware of her surroundings today. Nice feet.

Movement difficult to assess at times but showed glimpses of correct gait when settled.

Almost 2yrs. Bitch. Head is okay with lovely expression. Nicely balanced overall. Sufficient

forechest. Happy on the move with correct gait.

Almost 2yrs. Bitch. Third of the three siblings and clearly the best. Super head and eye.

Good forechest and rib to loin ratio is good. Confident on the move and in repose. Sufficient

7mths Bitch. Well-loved baby, especially over the ribs… Would prefer more forechest, but

scores highly in head and expression. Nicely stood up, but a touch ‘bum high’ at the

moment. Steady in profile movement. BPIB

15mths. Bitch. Black & Tan. Overall balance is pleasing. Feminine in head, good eye and

ears. Good forechest & keel. Tail flags a little on the move. Covered the ground well with

nice ground clearance. BOB

2 nd 183 Kasprowicz’s Wishadaz’s Blonde Showman Daniello

14mths. Dog.Blonde. Preferred the head on this boy but just didn’t get it together. Front not

his fortune, with far less forechest. Nicely balance and when settled he moved well in

profile.

Nicely muscled for age. Good symmetry in angulation. Needs to tighten up at the back but

11mths Dog. Finer in head than 1. Nice eyes, rose ears. Adequate bone. Good croup and

muscle but needs to tighten up all round.

well-balanced, stands well over ground. Moved well going away slightly pinning in coming to

mover with correct reach and drive. Well-muscled and shown and handled to advantage. BD

5yrs. Close up to 1, but lacking in forechest of 1. Good proportions in the main, but lack of

forechest left him a touch wider in front. Moves away well and is good in profile movement.

20mths. Lovely bitch with super overall balance. Nicely angulated front and rear. Well

muscled, shown in 1 st class condition. Feminine head with lovely expression. A little aware

of her surroundings today but so much to like, so easily forgiven. Excelled in move, out and

back and in profile. Easy BB & BOB today.

2yrs. Good bone, feet and overall balance. Another that was a little too aware of her

surroundings, and would just prefer a touch more in brisket. That said, she is feminine with

good eye and ears. Not quite the movement of 1, as lacking the drive and profile, but is

sound.

Lovely dalmatian bitch. Stood alone but I imagine would have easily held her own in

company. Pretty bitch, nice head balance. Good bone and feet. Clean liver markings.

Lovely profile gait, easy stride but with purpose.

2yrs. Dog. Good head and eye. Nicely muscled and in good coat. Shown and handled to

advantage. Covered the ground well and lovely in profile movement.

2yrs. Dog – Masculine boy. Overall balance is good, and is nice in profile. Nice bone, with

desired double dew claws.
