Guildford & District Canine Society

A big thank you to the committee of Guildford & District Canine Society for the invitation to judge the Bearded collie classes at your premier open show and the hardworking stewards for your help. Thank you to the Southern Counties Bearded Collie Club for their support and the exhibitors for entering. Unfortunately, there were only 5 dogs entered with 1 absent but I have enjoyed my judging, especially with the festive Christmas music in the background. I was pleased to find all dogs with good muscle tone and they were presented well.

Puppy class: No entries.

Junior class: 1 entry

1st Mrs A.M. Buswell, Chelsasa Private Eye on Scotesham

14 months old lovely brown youngster who is in the lighter stage of his coat, a nice dark adult coat is coming through. Eyes could be darker but will get darker when he is finishing his adult coat. He has a nice outline on the stand, good length, depth and shape of rib. Good length of upper arm but lay of shoulder could be better which you can see in the front reach on the move.

Post Graduate class: 1 entry

1st Mrs S & Miss C Bowden, Subessen the Wonder of You JW.

20 months old blue boy with a nice strong head and muzzle, good bite and pigment and eyes toning with his coat. Nice outline on the stand, moderate neck, well angulated front and back, correct shape and depth of rib but prefer a little more length. Balanced and light on his feet on the move.

Open class: 3 entries 1 absentee

1st Mrs S & Miss C Bowden, Subessen Heart of Hearts

6-year-old slate girl with a strong head and muzzle, correct bite, very good pigment, dark eye and enquiring expression. Moderate neck, good topline, good depth, shape and length of rib, short loin. Well-muscled, was moving well, effortless with reach and drive. Presented well and was in tune with her owner Pleased to give her BOB to represent a typical beardie in the group.

2nd Mrs L Dumbrell, Brodaty Limited Edition at Bethlyntee.

6-year-old brown masculine boy of good size with a strong head, muzzle and bite. Nice eye with a kind beardie expression. Correct lay of shoulder, good upper arm, nice depth, shape and length of rib with a short loin. Good bone and well-muscled. I preferred his front angulations to 1, but unfortunately, he was more interested in the girls today and wasn’t showing his best but I could see some lovely movement with good reach and drive. Pleased to give him RBOB.
