Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at your premier open show. I have to thank my stewards Kaye Whittingham and Bruce Jackson for their hard work without any breaks. 

Dobermann 

Puppy (4,2)

1 - SHARP, SHARP, GOODALL & GOODALL, MR M J, MRS JA, MR P & MRS D - MIANNA FULL CIRCLE WITH MARTIFERS. Black and rust of good size and shape. Head is developing well with good planes. Lovely eyes set well in skull and of good colour. Small ears set high on skull finishing the overall headpiece. A lovely length to neck which meets a well constructed forequarters with a good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Straight front with good bone and stood on compact feet. Enough depth to chest for age and well ribbed. Topline slightly sloping to rear where it is met with a high set tail carried well. Rear is muscled well throughout with a good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. On the move there was a good drive in rear with reach in front all whilst covering the ground. BOB BPIB 

2 - HAAFF, MR N & MRS H - KRIEGER'S NEW ILLUSION. Brown and rust who is slightly longer In cast than 1. That said she has the most feminine headpiece with good muzzle to skull ratio. Small ears set high on a skull that has good width. Eyes are of almond shape set well in skull and of good colour. Good depth to muzzle with tight lips. A lovely long neck which leads into a well laid shoulder and return of upper arm with elbows close to a developing chest. Another with good bone and stood on compact well arched feet. Would like a slightly stronger Topline. Muscular loin then met with a high set tail of good length. Angles in rear are good and muscled well. On the move covered the ground well, with a lovely reach in front just preferred the rear on one.

Open (2,1) 

1 - WOODHOUSE, MR G & MRS J - CH JOJAVIK MASTER CUTLER. There’s no denying this is a male. Black and rust. A strong headpiece with good planes and muzzle to skull ratio. Eyes are a lovely shape and size set well in skull. Good width and depth to muzzle and skull. Long neck. Would like a little more lay of shoulder which would help with a better reach on the move. Straight parallel front. Feet ok. Super topline with a deep chest and short back. Topline slopes to rear met with a high set tail. Rear is muscled well and has a good turn of stifle with parallel, well let down hocks. On the move there was a good drive.

Puppy (3,0)

1 - CROW & WALKER, MRS D & MR P - 

PETWALK BREAKS THE LAWS WITH CASACAVALLO (KJC). I judged this boy a few weeks ago and gave him BPIS. He is a beautiful example of the breed and I am sure that he will gain his crown with ease. Today he just didn’t quite have his head in the game which cost him a higher place in the group. BPIB TPG3 

2 - ROUTLEDGE, MISS V - PUFFLEPAWS SOMNIS DE UTOPIA. I rather liked this puppy. She is only 9 months old but is coming along nicely. A pretty headpiece with good muzzle to skull ratio and enough stop to balance the head. Good width to skull with large ears set well. Lovely almond shaped eyes that lure you in to have a second look. Correct bite. Clean well constructed front with a good lay of shoulder. Good throughout body with a muscular loin, good depth of chest and finished with a high set tail. Rear is equally well constructed and muscled well throughout. Took a little while to settle but once handler changed hands she settled into frame and moved with plenty of drive and reaching in front covering the ground well. 

Junior (3,0)

1 - BODEN, MISS D K - RAVANA'S MIRACLE AVOKADUH FOR GEMADAR (IMP CZE). A pleasing overall shape and size on this 14 month Hairless dog. A masculine headpiece with good width and depth through skull and muzzle. Enough under fill under a lovely almond shaped eye. Long neck leading into well laid shoulders with a good return of upper arms and elbows close to a well filled chest. Good for bone and a straight front with good hare like feet. Skin in excellent condition. Topline held on stand and move. Tail is set well but like it to have less of a curl. Rear is muscled well with a good turn of stifle and parallel hocks. Moved out well with reach and drive.

2 - ROUTLEDGE, MISS V - PUFFLEPAWS DREAM TO REALITY. 9 month old powderpuff who pleases the eye when stood. Needs to develop in confidence to really show themselves off on the move. Masculine headpiece with good muzzle to skull ratio of good width. Enough stop to balance the headpiece. Ears are of good size and furnished well set well on skull. Lovely dark almond eyes. Good length to neck which leads into a well assembled forequarters. Topline is firm on stand and move with good length to loin and finished with a high set tail. Rear angles good with good muscle tone. On the move there was a lovely reach in front, just needs a little more drive in the rear.

1 - SIMMS, MISS A - CHUNDECREST'S MY LOVE ROMEO FOR MAISHUA. Black and white powderpuff 20 month old. A well proportioned head. Ears are large and set well on skull with plenty of furnishings. Good shape and colour to eyes which are set well in skull. Lovely neck into well laid shoulders and a straight parallel front. Chest has good width and depth and well ribbed. Topline held on stand and move with a strong loin and a high set tail. Rear angles are good with enough muscle. On the move stayed parallel with reach and drive covering the ground. 

2 - no details for neither dog or owner. 2 year old powderpuff. A little heavier in the head than 1, but proportions are good. Ears are of great size and shape set well. Lovely dark almond eyes set well in skull. Good length to muzzle with enough stop. Good bone throughout. A clean, well constructed front with a good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Elbows are tight to a well developed chest. Topline and tail good. Angles in rear are balanced with good muscle tone throughout. Coat could be presented a little better. On the move it was parallel with good reach and drive covering the ground with balance. 

Open (10,2)

1 - CROW, MRS D - CH KOJIKI'S LOVE TO HATE ME AT CASACAVALLO JW. I’m sure this hairless male has had everything said about him and more. He really deserves his title. Another I judged a few weeks ago and today he went up a gear. A masculine clean headpiece tapering to muzzle with enough stop. Good width to skull with large ears set well and fringed. A long neck set into a super forequarters which has a super lay of shoulders into the straightest of fronts with long hare like feet. Everything flows from piece to piece with this boy. Topline is firm and a high set tail. Skin is in immaculate condition. Angles throughout rear is balanced with a good turn of stifle and parallel hocks. Super muscle. On the move it took him a little while to settle but once he did he is impressive, super rear drive with a clean action coming and going. Could not deny him BOB and when he came into the group ring he was composed and ultimately took TG1. 

2 - ROUTLEDGE, MISS V - VALENTINO VON SHINBASHI DEL PUFFLEPAWS. Another who impressed all round and was very unfortunate to meet 1 today. A masculine Powderpuff who presents a lovely profile. Another with a clean headpiece tapering to muzzle with good width to skull. Ears are set low and are of super size and shape. Lovely almond eyes set well in skull. A long neck leading into a well laid shoulder with a good return of upper arm with elbows tight to a well developed chest. Straight front with strong pasterns and stood on hare like feet. Lovely topline. Tail is set high and carried well both on the stand and the move. Rear is equally well constructed and muscled well. On the move it was parallel with good drive through rear and reach in front. 

Havanese

Puppy (1,0)

1 - WALKER, MRS S J - NEWTONWOOD BLAZE OF GLORY. God headpiece with a broad skull and good muzzle to skull ratio with enough stop. Lovely eye placement of good shape and size. Good pigmentation throughout. Neck of good length. Shoulders have enough lay. Would like a straighter front. Longer than high with a good Topline and rise over loin finishing with a high set tail carried well. Rear has enough angulation. On the move there was a good drive in rear all with a spring to the gait, could be a little cleaner in front. 

Post Graduate (2,0)

1 - COOPER, MRS K - ELPERRITO BRIGHT LIGHT. A smaller black and white feminine bitch with a pleasing headpiece with everything it should be. Broad skull with correct ear set of good length and well furnished. Good length to muzzle with enough stop. Eyes are dark and of good shape and size. Well assembled front with a good lay of shoulder and straight front. Lovely topline with correct rise over loin and met by a high set tail carried well. Angulation in rear strong with good muscle tone. Moved out well staying parallel with a good spring to movement. 

2 - CARTER & CHADBURN, MISS A & MR J - 

NEWTONWOOD ROCK WITH YOU. A little longer in cast than preferred. Eyes are lovely and dark being almond in shape set well in head. Good width to skull with a well placed earset of good length. Good lay of shoulder, return of upper arm and a straight parallel front. Topline ok. Would prefer a higher tail set. Angles in rear good with super muscle tone and parallel hocks. Moved out ok.

What 2 great examples of the breed and I could have swapped 1st and 2nd but this is how I found them today. 

1 - MCCALLUM-SEALY, MISS H - CH PANDAPRINT FOREVER. An ultra feminine bitch who deserves to wear her crown. She was on great form in the breed but when she came to the group her mind seemed to be elsewhere which was a shame. A super headpiece with correct proportions. A correct earset set well on a skull of good width. Eyes are a gorgeous dark almond set well in skull with the best pigmentation. Good length to neck which is met by a super forequarter construction with a good lay of shoulder, return of upper arm and a straight parallel front. Lovely topline with the correct rise over loin and met by a high set tail which is carried well. Rear is equally well constructed with a good turn of stifle and let down hocks. On the move she has a powerful rear and had the breed specific “spring” to the movement all whilst maintaining balance. 

2 - WALKER, MISS M & MISS N - BIG MCINTOSH. At 18 months old this boy really has a lot to offer. Once he settles into his frame I’m sure he will start picking up higher honours. A masculine headpiece without being coarse. Good width and depth to skull with good length to muzzle. Super eye placement of almond shape and dark in colour with super pigmentation. Ears set well on skull and are of good size and furnished well. Neck is of good length leading down into shoulders that are well laid and elbows are close to a well filled chest. Straight parallel front. Super Topline with rise over loin. Tail is set and carried high. Angulation in rear is good with good muscle tone. This exhibit just wasn’t as settled and balanced on the move as 1.

Junior (1,0)

1 - YOUNG, MRS S - ALTINA'S MATILDA AT SERICUMBRIA. An exhibit I very much liked much as she is very well constructed. I unfortunately couldn’t see a true movement as she lacked the confidence. A lovely head with skull longer than muzzle which is of good width and ears that are set high and of good shape and size. Eyes are set well and are of good shape and size. Neck is graceful leading into a well laid should and a good return of upper arm with elbows close to a well developed chest. Topline was hard to assess as she was tense on the tail and it wasn’t a fair representation. Angles in rear are good with a good turn of stifle. 

AV Veteran (13,6)

1 - ROONEY, GREEN & GREEN, MR S, MR J & MRS A - CH SWIFTHOCKS PAWS FOR THOUGHT JW. What an absolute delight to finally get my hands on this girl. I have watched her from a puppy and at 9 years old she could easily out move the youngsters. Broad through skull with rounded skull in front. Lovely short muzzle padded well wide wide open nostrils. Good strength to underjaw. Large eyes which are set well in skull showing white of eye giving the breed typical look of astonishment. Good length to neck which leads into a good lay of shoulder with and return of upper arm. Fine boned throughout with straight limbs and correct hare feet. Super width to chest with the best of top lines all finished with a high set tail and plenty of plume. Rear is beautifully balanced with a good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Coat in pristine condition. On the move is where you truly appreciate the conformation of this girl, she moves with super drive in rear and a clean reach in front. Best veteran and reserve best veteran in show. What a credit to owners, breeders and handler. 

2 - DOWSETT, MS D P - CH DOONBEG REACH FOR THE SKY TTESWOOD JW ShCM VW. Another exhibit who wears her crown incredibly well. At 11.5 years old credit truly has to go to the owner/handler for keeping this Chinese crested girl in tip top condition. She moved so much better in this class than the breed class which is why she deserved this placing. A beautifully balanced head piece with good muzzle to skull ratio with enough stop to balance the headpiece. Good width through skull with ears set well and they are of good size and shape. Lovely neck leading to well laid shoulders with a good return of upper arm and elbows close to a well filled chest. A firm Topline which is held at all times. A good length to loin leading to a well rounded rump and a high set tail. Good turn of stifle muscled well and well let down hocks. On the move this girl stayed parallel with good reach and drive and covered the ground well. 

Toy group 

1- Chinese Crested - CROW, MRS D - CH KOJIKI'S LOVE TO HATE ME AT CASACAVALLO JW - see Chinese crested Critique 

2 - Pekingese- MORLEY & HITCHCOCK, MISS E & MR R - LIZLANMOR DECLARATION JW. A great weight when picked. Balance headpiece of good with width. Wide open nostrils. Short neck leading into a good shoulder placement and correct front assembly with good bone. Limbs wrap around a broad chest. Super Topline with high set tail furnished well. Good waist. Super rear with a good turn of stifle and parallel well let down hocks. Move with power in rear and displayed the breed typical rolling gait. 

3 - Japanese Chin - ROONEY, GREEN & GREEN, MR S, MR J & MRS A -JASCHIN PAW STAR. What a little superstar this is. Still a youngster but offers so much. Good size and shape with the best Topline good length of loin and high set tail. Broad rounded skull with correct ear set. Lovely eyes with good amount of white of eye to have the breed typical look of astonishment. Move out so well. 

4 - Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - WILLIAMS, MRS E D - CHARNELL THE RENEGADE SANCANA JW. A youngster who I have judged in a group a few times and he just keeps getting better and better. Flat skull with correct ear set. Lovely eyes set well and have a soft expression to them. Lovely level Topline with a tail that extends the topline. Move out well in a well filled toy group.

Puppy Group 

1 - bolognese - TOWERS, MRS J - ENJANICKA TOSCANA OCIO. What a beautiful young bolognese. Probably the best that has come from this kennel. Square and compact in profile. Good width to skull and good muzzle to skull ratio with a definite stop. Well laid shoulders and straight front with good feet. Topline super finished with a well set tail. Rear is balanced and muscled well. I will watch this puppy develop with great interest. 

2 - Pekingese - MORLEY & HITCHCOCK, MISS E & MR R - SHANTALLAH SAVANNA AT LIZLANMOR. These owners know how to bring quality into their kennel. Another exhibit who I’m sure has a bright future. Lovely headpiece with the loveliest of eyes. Short muzzle, wide open nostrils well padded muzzle. Super strength to under jaw. A super front assembly with a broad chest with front limbs wrapped around and stood on good feet. Short back, good waist and high set tail. Lovely rear with sweep of stifle and well let down hocks. Handled beautifully.

4 - Pug - REYNOLDS, MISS H

CROFTREN COME ON OVER. Charming girl who has a lovely headpiece and good mask. Enough wrinkle throughout. Lovely dark round eyes. Short neck leading into a super shoulder placement and good bone stood on good feet. Topline good with good depth to chest. tail could be a fraction higher. Lovely real and moves out with clean front movement and good roll.
