5th May 2025

Judge: Richard Lee (Kelrick)

Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

I would like to thank the committee of the Blackpool & Fylde Toy Dog Society for inviting me to judge at their lovely, well-organised show. It was a pleasure to be part of such a friendly event, with plenty of thoughtful extras for exhibitors that really added to the day. Thanks also to my steward, Dave Bumford, who kept the ring running smoothly, and to the exhibitors for their support and sporting attitudes.

Puppy: (2,0)

1st Jackson’s Applebroad Candy Spice via Fortunamajor. 11-month-old Blenheim bitch, well broken markings. She has correct scissor bite, a dark nose and eyes which contribute to a lovely soft expression. Displays a good length of coat for her age and is well balanced overall. Very attentive to her handler and clearly enjoyed the ring. Moved very well with a good tail set and carriage. A promising youngster who showed with confidence and style. Best Puppy in Breed, RBOB and went on to Puppy Group 1

2nd Reeder’s Finjaro Hokus Pokus. 6-month-old Blenheim dog with a shorter coat, heavily marked. Longer cast and a slightly shorter muzzle than the winner. Not as steady on the move, as he pulled away from his handler and was unsettled on the table. Quite immature at this stage.

Special Yearling: (4,2)

1st Willis’ Dinitro’s Madeleine. 17-month-old Blenheim bitch, well broken and nicely marked. Moved well with good tail set. She has good length of muzzle with enough cushioning with black nose and dark eyes which enhanced her soft expression. She was attentive to her handler throughout. Displayed a well-balanced outline both standing and on the move. A quality young bitch who presented a tidy overall picture.

2nd Danks’ Rabymar Prince William at Alsidewood. 13-month-old Black & Tan dog, rich in colour with tan in all the right places. Exhibited a soft expression with dark eyes and a well pigmented nose. Well balanced with a well-turned-out coat of good silky texture. Maintained composure in the ring and showed with confidence and a happy temperament. A smart and promising youngster.

Post Graduate: (4,0)

1st Jacksons’ Fortunamajor Perseus JW. 22-month-old Tricolour dog with a lovely, masculine head and well angulated body. Good length to his well feathered leathers, with dark eyes and good cushioning which completed a pleasing soft expression. He was presented immaculately with plenty of silky coat. He moved well with positive action. He possessed a good temperament and showed happily throughout. A well-put-together dog with plenty of ring presence. Best of Breed.

2nd Willis’ Dinitro’s Rock Steady Eddie. 17-month-old Blenheim dog, a handsome boy with a soft, masculine expression. Slightly longer cast than the class winner but well broken and richly marked. Presented in a good, well-groomed coat, with dark eyes, good length of leathers and a black nose. Moved steadily, with good reach and drive. Another nice male with quality and type.

Open: (2,0)

1st Dawson’s Luphenex Highland Fling. 3-year-old Blenheim bitch of good size and proportions, displaying a well-balanced outline and a soft, appealing expression. Lively in manner and attentive to her handler throughout. Dark eyes enhanced her gentle look. Well broken with rich tan and pearly white markings, she was well presented with a good length of coat. She showed steadily and with confidence.

2nd Danks’ Leabbie Toodie’s Delight at Alsidewood. 7-year-old Black & Tan bitch with a rich raven black, well-presented coat of good length. Slightly longer cast in body. She moved happily. However, she lacked the head qualities of the class winner and had lighter eyes, which affected overall expression.
