13th July 2025

Judge: Richard Lee (Kelrick)

Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

I would like to thank the committee of the Oakengates & District Canine Society for inviting me to judge their Midsummer Madness Christmas Open Show. I would also like to thank my stewards for keeping everything on track in the ring. Big thanks to all the exhibitors for bringing their dogs today, and for accepting my decisions with sporting attitudes.

Puppy: (4,2)

1. Taylor’s Luvtayls Million Dreams. Confident, graceful, and well-balanced 10-month-old puppy dog. Moved well, holding a level topline, with a good tailset. Lovely dark eyes and a soft, gentle expression. Moderate length of neck, more mature than 2nd, with a good length of coat developing for age. Bone was moderate and correct, and he had a perfect scissor bite. Well broken and richly marked in chestnut on a pearly white ground. A well-presented and promising youngster. BPIB and went on to Puppy Group 3.

2. Leaver & Gresty’s Revaelann Rocky Road. 10-month-old Blenheim puppy dog with lozenge, of a more masculine type. Moved well, holding a good topline. Less mature than 1st and not as well furnished. Correct scissor bite and black nose. Not the same degree of softness in head and heavier marked than 1 with rich chestnut markings. Shows promise but needs time to develop.

Junior: (2,1)

1. Taylor’s Luvtayls Dream Big. 10-month-old Tricolour puppy dog, heavily marked with rich tan. Pleasing overall shape. Good moderate bone, developing well for age. Correct scissor bite. Pigment developing, with some markings still coming in on the nose. Lacks confidence at this stage and movement was erratic at times.

Post Graduate: (3,0)

1. Taylor’s Luvtayls Fireflash Rose. 2-year-old Blenheim bitch of good overall balance with a reasonable heavier marked coat and a well-proportioned body. Gentle head with good pigment, soft expression, correct scissor bite. Moderate neck with slight arch into well laid shoulders. Well-set tail. Moved well fore and aft and was more confident than 2nd. A sound exhibit.

2. Key’s Russmic Whiskey Business. 21-month-old ruby dog with lovely rich red silky coat. Well presented. More immature than winner. Lacking in confidence, particularly on the table. Lovely head with dark, large eyes, black nose and a soft melting expression. Moved reasonably around the ring. Needs time and confidence to fulfil potential.

Limit: (6,1)

1. Firth’s Cridensa Cortez. 19-month-old ruby dog, very well presented with a rich, silky coat of great length and quality. Masculine head with a lovely soft, melting expression and large, dark round eyes. Good pigmentation and correct scissor bite. Tail was initially carried a little high on the move but carried better when settled. A little longer than ideal. Moved well.

2. Lunt’s Oaktreepark Royal Bliss. 2-year-old Blenheim bitch, not as heavily coated as 1st. Well broken rich tan markings on a pearly white ground. Soft, feminine expression with attractive head type. Animated and happy temperament on the move, but not quite the same polish or maturity as the winner today. A well-balanced bitch with lots to like.

Open Dog: (4,0)

1. Taylor’s Redvicki Heavenly Chance Loranka. 3-year-old tricolour dog of excellent quality. Well feathered leathers and lovely, head – almost flat between the ears, with a very soft, gentle expression. Good moderate neck. Moved well with lovely tail carriage and good rear angulation. Shown in immaculate condition with dark eyes and nose, and a clean, well-balanced outline. Showed well to advantage.

2. Firth’s Keycav Solo Sydney. 2-year-old Blenheim dog with well-broken markings. Rich tan on pearly white ground. Good length of coat, presented very well. Pleasing head with good ears and soft expression. A little longer cast than ideal but well angulated and moved well around the ring, holding a level topline.

Open Bitch: (3,1)

1. Leaver & Gresty’s Revaelann Scrumptious. 5-year-old Blenheim bitch. Bright, animated showgirl with a long, silky coat and great presentation. Lovely head with well feathered leathers, framing a lovely soft expression. Well-balanced features and a pleasing dark eye. Correct scissor bite. Formed a typical silhouette on the stand and moved with grace and elegance. Made the most of herself and was willing to show throughout. A quality bitch who caught the eye. BOB and went on to Group 4.

2. Lunt’s Oaktreepark Royal Ava. 3-year-old Blenheim with a well-broken coat of good length and a pleasing outline. Dark eye and good pigmentation, good cushioning creating softness of expression. Moved well but not as showy as 1st. Correct scissor bite and good head type. A very nice bitch who just lacked the animation and presence of the winner today.
