SHERINGHAM & DISTRICT KENNEL ASSOCIATION – Open Show 27 April 2025

SHETLAND SHEEPDOG: Thank you to the SDKA Committee for the invitation to judge and to the exhibitors for entering some lovely dogs for me to go over today. Very pleased to see BOB go G2 & BPIB go PG4. My class placings took into consideration tails carried over level of back, pacing on the move and dentition evident in some of the exhibits on the day.

P (1) Hull, Lizmark Forget Me Not – feminine 6-month blue-merle bitch puppy who seemed to enjoy her time in the show ring, taking in sounds & sights around her. Responsive to handler and used her ears well to complement sweet expression. Balanced front and rear angulation, with good length of tail. Just needs time to grow into herself. Moved well BPIB

SY (2,1) 1 Rutterford, Myter Black Tarquin at Stormhead JW – very appealing 18-month tricolour dog of lovely shape and well-constructed, with rich black coat colouring. Head handled well, with good length of neck, depth of chest and spring of ribs. Level topline with well let down hocks. He moved well in the class, but the heat of the sunny day may have played a part in the challenge, and unfortunately, he did not demonstrate the same reach and drive that he had shown earlier in the class.

L (6,2) 1 Stock, Shemist Summertime Blue’s – glamorous two-year old blue-merle dog of sound construction throughout. Head handled well, of correct shape and with obliquely set almond shaped eyes. Used his ears well. Good depth of chest and spring of ribs, with gentle slope over croup and tail of sufficient length. Legs straight when viewed from front and well let-down hocks to rear. Pleasing front and rear angulation and did not disappoint on the move in the class and good drive in the challenge RBOB; 2 Hoare, Stanydale Ocean Wave – another eye-catching two-year old blue-merle dog with pleasing head, good eye shape and ear placement. Well laid-back shoulders with good depth of chest, level topline and low-set tail. Moved well. 3 Taylor & Yuille, Shelridge Quizmaster at Chelmermead.

O (4) 1 Hull, Mohnesee’s Dream Date of Lizmark JW – 7-year-old sable & white dog who took my eye the moment he came in the ring, with lovely overall shape and of correct size. Good texture to coat and beautifully presented. Refined, elegant head with parallel planes and rounded muzzle. Good underjaw and almond shaped eyes with correctly placed ears used to good effect to produce sweet expression. Head handled well, complemented by well arched neck. Well laid-back shoulders, with well let-down hocks and balanced front and rear angulation. Lovely level topline with good length of tail. Moved very well with good reach and drive BOB; 2 Taylor, Wells & Yuille, Ch Lafitte De Moorstile Chez Shelridge (IMP FRA) JW – 9-year-old sable & white dog of lovely quality and substance. One-piece head with level jaws, almond shaped eyes & well-placed ears. Lovely pigmentation to eyes, nose & lips, with sweet expression and pleasing overall outline and coat texture. Balanced front and rear angulation and moved well in the class. I am sure that on another day he is bound to take top spot, but in my opinion, just lacked the reach and drive of BOB & RBOB on the day. 3 Taylor & Yuille, Shelridge Toastmaster at Chelmermead.
