I would like to thank the society for the kind invitation to judge at their show. It was a most enjoyable and well-organised event, supported by a friendly committee and excellent stewards who kept the day running smoothly. There was a lovely atmosphere throughout, and a pleasing entry of dogs across the breeds, with quality present in depth. My sincere thanks also go to the exhibitors for giving me the privilege of going over their beautiful dogs — it was a pleasure to assess such well-presented and well-mannered examples, making the experience thoroughly rewarding.

Border Terrier

Puppy

1st – Darley, Otterbobs Rocky At Cymrygold

Smart youngster of pleasing type. Good otter-like head with short strong muzzle and correct expression. Nicely balanced throughout with adequate bone and narrow front as required. Well ribbed back and standing on good feet. Moved freely and confidently for one so young. Coat developing well with correct harsh texture. Promising puppy.

2nd – Thomlinsons, Fairhambrook The Tyler

Another quality youngster, slightly different in type but soundly made. Good head proportions and keen expression. Straight front and well laid shoulders. Slightly longer in body than 1st today but well ribbed. Moved steadily both ways. Coat coming on well.

3rd – Nightingdale, Dassett Lady Macbeth Of Knowbury

Feminine puppy with pleasing head and expression. Good neck and shoulder placement. Would benefit from a little more body and maturity but has time on her side. Moved soundly, coat correct texture.

Quality bitch of excellent type. Lovely otter head, dark eye and keen expression. Correct front assembly and narrow body, well ribbed back. Strong hindquarters giving positive movement. Excellent harsh double coat. Sound and workmanlike.

Standout exhibit with true Border type. Excellent head properties and expression, strong yet not overdone . Balanced outline with good depth and narrow body. Firm topline and well-set tail. Moved soundly and with purpose. Harsh jacket in first-class condition. Deserved the class win & BOB

Very promising puppy with excellent balance and proportions. Keen terrier expression with correct dark eye and well carried ears. Good length of body with flexibility, straight front and well angulated hindquarters. Spanned easy Moved freely with drive. Harsh coat and well presented. Deserved Best Puppy and Puppy Group 1.

2nd – Jones, Laserna Captain Crash

Smart youngster, slightly different style but pleasing overall. Good head and ear set. Compact and well boned. Moved soundly, just preferred overall balance of 1st today.

Well constructed exhibit with pleasing outline. Typical head ,Good forechest and straight front. Strong loin and well-muscled quarters. True terrier movement with reach and drive. Coat of correct texture.

Quality exhibit. Good head proportions, keen expression and correct ear carriage. Well balanced throughout with good length and flexibility of body. Strong topline and correct tail carriage. Moved out positively and soundly both ways. Coat harsh and weather resistant.

A very pleasing youngster who immediately catches the eye with his long, low outline and excellent balance throughout. He possesses an attractive, masculine head of correct proportions with a soft, kind expression that is so desirable in the breed. The neck flows beautifully into well-laid shoulders, and his forechest is well developed without any hint of exaggeration. The body is long, well ribbed, and carries a firm topline that holds steady both standing and on the move. He moves freely with a lovely open stride, showing good reach in front and drive behind, making full use of his well-constructed quarters. His silky coat is developing well with correct feathering, completing a very elegant picture

2nd – Paskins, Kindeace London’s Calling

Another quality youngster from the same kennel, similar in many virtues to the winner. Slightly less mature at this stage, but well constructed and full of breed type. His outline is balanced and correctly proportioned, with enough bone and substance without any coarseness. The head is pleasing, with dark eyes and a kind, intelligent expression. He moved steadily, maintaining a balanced outline with good freedom in stride. His coat is in good condition and of the correct texture,

1st – Paskins, Kindpeace You Wear It Well

A well-balanced and soundly built bitch of pleasing proportions. Presents a typical long and low outline with a proud head carriage and flowing topline. Neck clean and of good length, leading into well laid-back shoulders. Forechest well developed and complemented by a long ribbing which gives excellent overall shape and balance. Movement is true and steady, showing reach and drive in equal measure,

2nd – Reid, Swansford Daphnedora at Maudaxi

A feminine and attractive bitch with many good points to admire. She has a soft, appealing expression and a pleasing outline which is low and compact without exaggeration. Her body is well proportioned and she holds her topline well, though she might benefit from a little more strength and drive behind, which should come with maturity. Moved soundly and shown in good coat and condition. A typy and quality exhibit who just needs time to finish.

An excellent representative of the breed and a beautifully finished dog in every respect. He captures attention instantly with his flowing outline, correct proportions, and superb balance. The head is noble yet refined, of correct length with dark, expressive eyes His neck is clean and of good length, flowing elegantly into well-laid shoulders and a firm, level topline that he maintains both on the move and when standing. The forechest is well pronounced and correctly filled without exaggeration; ribs extend fully back, giving both strength and length to body. His hindquarters are strong, well muscled and drive powerfully, complementing the excellent reach in front. He moves with purpose and precision—smooth, ground-covering, and effortless. The coat is in gleaming condition, silky and of correct length, with feathering that frames his shape beautifully deserving of Best of Breed.

2nd – Vincent, Breezelyn A Long Story at Gainscroft

Another quality exhibit of pleasing type and construction. she displays a balanced outline and an attractive head with soft, kind expression. Well-ribbed body and firm topline, holding her shape both standing and moving. Moved soundly and freely with good stride and correct carriage, though not quite the same degree of flow and finish as the winner today. Presented in lovely coat and condition, handled expertly to advantage.

A delightful young bitch of excellent type, displaying everything one hopes to see in a miniature long-haired. Feminine throughout yet sturdy and well constructed. She has a sweet, intelligent expression and a well-shaped head with dark, oval eyes. The body is compact, well-ribbed, and correctly proportioned in depth and length. She moved freely and confidently, covering the ground with a smooth, easy stride. Her coat lies close and silky with neat feathering, and she was turned out beautifully. A quality youngster showing true Dachshund character and balance, earning Best of Breed on the day.

A well-balanced youngster who moved with purpose and soundness. Well-proportioned head with a confident outlook, good neck and shoulders, firm topline and well-developed quarters. Promising type who should finish into a very smart adult.

A strong and stylish smooth of correct proportions and balance. Carrying excellent condition, he shows a clean neck into well-laid shoulders and a firm topline. Moved truly from all angles, driving positively from behind while maintaining an easy, ground-covering stride. Presented in first-class condition and coat, he commanded the ring with confidence – a lovely representative of the smooth variety.

A pleasing, type showing excellent type for his age. Attractive head, dark eyes giving a soft expression, and well-laid shoulders. Holds a good outline both standing and in motion, moving soundly with fluid action. Well-presented and promising.

1st – Baker & Clements, Rayol Bohemian Rhapsody of Kenraura

Balanced and well-made, maintaining the classic long and low outline. Prominient forechest and keel goes well back. Moved accurately and freely, keeping her topline level throughout. Shown in good coat and condition.

2nd – Reynolds, Kleinstar Blue Moon

Slightly heavier in build than the winner but still of pleasing type. Moved well with adequate reach and drive. Coat and musculature in good order.

1st Reynolds, Kleinstar Moon Gazer (BOB)

A quality male who exemplifies balance, type, and sound construction . He presents a clean, flowing outline, long and low but never exaggerated, with excellent proportions and substance for his size. The head is refined, of correct length and taper, with dark, almond-shaped eyes giving that intelligent, confident expression His neck is slightly arched, blending smoothly into well-laid shoulders and a firm topline which remains steady on the move.

Forechest is prominent and well filled, with straight forelegs and tight feet. Ribbing carries well back, giving overall strength and balance, while hindquarters are muscular and well-angled, producing effortless, driving movement that is free and true from all angles. His coat is close, smooth, and sleek, of fine texture and excellent condition, enhancing his crisp outline. Shown in first-rate form and handled with ease, he moved with style and confidence around the ring. A masculine dog of real quality who combines elegance with functionality — thoroughly deserving of his Best of Breed award.

Another of good quality. Well-shaped and smart in outline, prominent forechest and good length of keel parallel rear though not quite the same rear drive as the winner. Shown in good coat and condition.

A confident and well-made youngster with a balanced outline and compact shape. Harsh coat of good texture and well presented. Movement true and controlled, maintaining form throughout.

Pleasing in type and similar in structure, though slightly narrower all through. Coat developing well, moved with an easy stride and good temperament.

Excellent type and quality. Compact and well-proportioned, showing correct harsh coat , and tidy furnishings. Moves freely and confidently with strong drive.

A most promising young puppy who immediately draws the eye with his clean lines, graceful outline, and natural poise. He already displays the classic Pointer balance between strength and elegance, with a well-shaped head, beautifully proportioned skull and muzzle, and soft, attentive expression from dark, well-set eyes. His neck is slightly arched and flows smoothly into well-laid shoulders, with straight, well-boned forelegs and tight, rounded feet. Body developing nicely, with good depth of chest, correct ribbing, and a strong, level topline He was very enthusiastic on the move today but I am sure that will settle . Coat short, fine, and gleaming with health.

A very eye-catching young bitch , full of quality and breed type. she immediately appeals with her proud bearing, clean outline, and balanced construction. The head is refined, with a perceptible stop and gentle expression from dark, well-set eyes. Her neck is long and slightly arched, flowing beautifully into well-laid shoulders and a firm, level topline. The forehand construction is correct, with a deep chest and well-sprung ribs that extend well back, giving both strength and elegance. Movement is true and smooth, showing good reach in front and drive from behind, maintaining a graceful and effortless gait. A very promising young Pointer

2nd – Saunders & Newton, Teisgol Calendula

A pleasing, young male who shows much quality and balance. He has a lovely head of correct proportions with a soft, intelligent expression, typical of the breed. Shoulders well laid back, body of pleasing depth and length, and topline carried gently into a well-set tail. His movement is clean and rhythmic, showing good coordination and true tracking both ways. Just lacked a little of the power and maturity of the winner, but nonetheless a very attractive youngster of classic Pointer type.

1st – O’Neil, Tenshilling Shboom

One I have done well for before and still very much like him. A truly classic Pointer, showing typical elegance, balance, and athleticism. Mature and well-finished all through, with a clean, slightly arched neck leading into well-laid shoulders and straight forelegs set well under the body. Deep, capacious chest and well-sprung ribs contributing to a smooth topline and strong, slightly sloping croup. On the move he impresses with his effortless, flowing stride and excellent hind extension, demonstrating both reach and drive in unison. A quality exhibit who shows the correct blend of power and refinement and presented in excellent condition. Handled very well. BOB

Another Pointer of fine construction and symmetry, balanced and honest throughout. He has a well-proportioned head with kind expression, good length of muzzle, and strong jaw. The outline is clean and athletic, with good topline and tail carriage. Moved soundly around the ring with good rhythm and purpose, though not quite the fluid extension of the winner today. Beautifully presented and full of classic breed appeal.

A superb dog of outstanding type, oozing quality and presence from every angle. He is the very picture of Pointer elegance—balanced, symmetrical, and effortlessly athletic. The head is noble yet gentle, skull and muzzle of equal length, with beautiful eye shape giving that unmistakably soft, intelligent expression. Neck long, clean, and well-muscled, flowing into a strong back and gently sloping topline, finished with a correctly set tail carried level on the move. His movement is a joy to watch—graceful, effortless, with true front extension and powerful hind drive, maintaining balance and precision throughout. Presented in super hard condition and handled to perfection. A dog that epitomises the Pointer standard and a worthy class winner.

2nd – O’Neil, Tenshilling To Sir With Love JW,

Another from this consistent kennel displaying the same excellence in type and construction. Slightly more compact than the winner, but nonetheless full of quality. Clean lines, elegant outline, and a superb coat and condition. Moved soundly and freely, showing a smooth, rhythmic gait which covered the ground well. A stylish and well-balanced Pointer, and unlucky to meet the winner in such fine form.

Golden Retriever

1st – Smith, Goldmarker Luminora

A truly lovely puppy, full of type, substance, and quality, already showing much promise for the future. Balanced and well-proportioned all through, with a pleasing head and soft, gentle expression characteristic of the breed. Her skull and muzzle are of correct proportions, eyes dark and full of life, and ears well set. She presents an excellent outline, with a strong neck flowing into well-laid shoulders, straight forelegs, and a deep, well-developed chest for her age. Topline firm and level, with good tail set and carriage. She moves freely and easily around the ring, covering the ground effortlessly with reach and drive, already showing the fluid gait demanded by the standard. Coat of good texture and gleam for a youngster. A very promising puppy, full of Golden Retriever charm.

2nd – Smith, Goldmarker Alderbaran

Another from this kennel and very much of the same type and quality, making for a lovely pair of siblings. Not as mature as first but well balanced and with pleasing construction. Good head and kind expression, with clean outline and correct angulation fore and aft. Moved soundly and freely, just not quite the finish or maturity of his kennelmate at this stage, but full of quality throughout.

A quality example of the breed, combining elegance with strength. Beautifully balanced outline with excellent length of neck, straight forelegs, and deep body. Shoulders well laid back and forechest developed, giving a true forehand assembly. Topline firm, tail correctly set and carried level with the back. On the move she is impressive—smooth, rhythmic, and purposeful, covering the ground with ease and style. Presented in first-class condition, with a gleaming coat of good texture. Shows a wonderful temperament, calm and confident.

2nd – Stanfield, Roxali Little Queenie

A feminine bitch of pleasing shape, with a kind expression and good body proportions. Balanced both fore and aft, moving freely with good reach. Shown in good coat and handled sympathetically to advantage.

A truly handsome male, full of quality and breed character. Exemplary head, masculine yet soft, with excellent pigment, correct eye shape, and gentle expression. Balanced in outline, displaying strong construction and perfect proportion between length of leg and depth of body. His angulation both fore and aft is exemplary, allowing free, driving movement with a long, effortless stride. Topline firm carried level on the move, with correct tail set. A smart, well-balanced dog of pleasing proportions and kind expression. Good in bone and substance, carrying the right amount of condition. Covered the ground well on the move, though not quite matching the overall ring presence and stride extension of the winner.

1st – Bufton & Riley, Phoslas Polly Flinders (BOB)

A simply beautiful bitch of classic Golden Retriever type, full of elegance and refinement yet with substance and strength throughout. Gorgeous feminine head with dark eyes, well-defined stop, and the sweetest, most intelligent expression. Her outline flows from nose to tail—strong neck merging into sloping shoulders and a level topline that carries through to a well-set tail. Excellent forechest and body proportions give balance and symmetry. Her movement is fluid, effortless, and true, covering the ground with ease and poise. The coat is of ideal texture and gleam,. A true picture of breed quality she fully deserved her Best of Breed award today.

2nd – Smith, Goldmarker Luminess

Another beautiful bitch from a kennel clearly producing consistent quality. Attractive head and eye, well-shaped body, and free, easy movement. Excellent coat and condition, just not quite the final finish or maturity of the winner, but a lovely exhibit nonetheless.

3rd – Ball, Shearstone Live In The Dream at Fivelms

A pleasing bitch of kind expression and balanced construction. Moved soundly with confidence, maintaining outline throughout, though not quite the same reach and flow as the first two.

A quality dog, beautifully balanced and displaying the true characteristics of the breed. Possesses a lovely feminine head, well chiselled with correct proportions, gentle expression, and kind, dark eye. The neck is clean and slightly arched, flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders and a firm, level topline. Chest deep with well-developed forechest and good spring of rib, giving both capacity and symmetry without any hint of heaviness. Quarters are strong and well muscled, providing the power and drive necessary for the breed’s characteristic movement. On the move free, long-striding, and true both fore and aft, maintaining his outline effortlessly around the ring. Coat of correct texture and presentation, gleaming and well feathered without excess. A sound, honest type . BOB

1st Irving, Tollelkin Louvois , young male puppy caught the eye with a clean outline He exhibited a well-proportioned head with a correctly shaped wedge and expressive almond-shaped eyes, needs to fill out in body and just get his act together on the move. .. His coat texture and condition were appropriate for a puppy, showing a promising double coat and correct red colouring with minimal white markings BPIB

1st Gibson , Delphox Guiser 22months This exhibit showed correct Toller type with well-laid shoulders and good forequarters that gave a strong and free stride. The neck was well set into a level topline that was maintained both standing and on the move, bone and round tight feet , and the ribs were well sprung providing strength through the body.

The head was attractive with a kind expression, almond-shaped eyes and good proportions that complemented the medium size of the dog/bitch. In profile this exhibit demonstrated powerful, ground-covering gait with balanced angulation front and rear, giving good drive without exaggeration. BOB

The coat was in good condition and the handler kept the exhibit alert and attentive,

An appealing puppy full of confidence and breed type, presenting a strong, compact outline with excellent balance for his age. Head well-proportioned with a typical expression full of intelligence. Neck of good length leading into clean shoulders and a firm, level topline. Coat of correct curl and texture well maintained and already developing the dense, waterproof quality desired. Moved with enthusiasm and drive, maintaining shape throughout. A very promising youngster who demonstrates true potential as he matures.

2nd – Foxriever Infinite Spirit (AI) (Curly Coated Retriever)

A quality puppy of pleasing proportions, showing good bone, strength, and type. Attractive head with dark eye and kindly expression. Body well developed for age with correct ribbing and topline. Moved steadily and true, keeping his outline on the move. Just at an earlier stage of maturity than the winner but promising plenty for the future.

1st – Goldbirch Northern Jazz (English Setter)

A lovely, well-balanced example of the breed presenting the classic English Setter outline of grace and symmetry. Beautiful head and expression, long, lean, and refined, enhanced by soft, dark eyes. Neck slightly arched, leading into well-sloped shoulders and deep body. Movement light and flowing, covering the ground effortlessly, showing both elegance and freedom. Shown in excellent coat and condition, he impressed with both type and temperament.

2nd – Babtonkelpie Gallery Queen (Cocker Spaniel)

Compact, feminine, and beautifully put together, displaying depth and substance without losing her elegance. Sweet head with dark eyes and soft expression, well ribbed body, and strong topline.
