Thame & 0xfordshire County Canine Society – Premier Open Show – 16th July 2025

Thank you to the committee for this appointment, to both my ring stewards for keeping me hydrated throughout the day and keeping the ring flowing seamlessly. A big thank you to the exhibitors, I thoroughly enjoyed judging your dogs, who were impeccably behaved even though the temperature soared.

Spaniel (Clumber)

Puppy – 0

Special Yearling – 1

1st Mrs R Wareham – Suelynda Dream On, 17 month old young lady, in lovely silky coat, very nice head and expression with good depth of muzzle. Balanced body proportions, moved with a sound stride. Reserve Best of Breed.

Limit – 2

1st Mrs J & Mr MJ Lovell -Clumberbraise Your Song (Imp Nor), Lovely head and expression on this 2.5 year old boy. He has a super headpiece, masculine with strength. Good overall angulation and topline, Moved around the ring accurately, in good coat and condition.

2nd Miss L Wareham – Tweedsmuir Moonflower, An exuberant mover, but got it together long enough for me to see her foot fall. Lovely femine head with good body proportions, In super condition with strength of bone.

Open – 1

1st Mrs R & Mrs S Wareham & Dustan – Maursett Melwyn, 4 year old all boy! Square broad head with heavy brows and deep stop, good strong neck into well angled shoulders. Strong straight limbs with good feathering, long in the body with good topline, which was held on the move. In sparking bloom. Best Of Breed.

Puppy – 1

1st Mrs J Walker – Korthals Griffon, Lindensgriff Summer Star to Baikel, 10.5 month old bitch, well grown with kind head and expression, this young lady has the ability to move very well, but today I felt her handler let her down a tad. She stands four square, on straight limbs, with well set on shoulders. In good course coat. Best Puppy.

Post Graduate 2 (1a)

Stilgoe & Fox Mr P & Mrs D &Mrs L – Portuguese Pointer, Teisgol Morgana, This 2 year old bitch presents a very balanced picture, femine head with nice eye. Sadly today she was a little apprehensive, but on the move, she moved out with drive.

Limit – 1

1st Stilgoe, Stilgoe, Fox & Fox – Portuguese Pointer, Teisgol King Arthur, Correct masculine head, strong neck, straight forelimbs with tight feet. He has very good musculature which he used to advantage on the move. Reserve Best of Breed.

Open – 3

1st Mr I Sladeden -Braque D’Auvergne , Khyannes Villette at Canemamans ShCEx (Imp Hun). Wow this lady filled my eye, In super coat and hard muscled condition, she powered round the ring on strong well boned legs effortlessly. Feminine kind head and expression, strong long neck flowing into well set shoulders, and tight elbows. Straight front limbs, good body proportions with correct topline. An easy winner here today. Best Of Breed.

2nd Stilgoe Mr P R & Mrs D E – Portuguese Pointer, Ir Sh Cn Perdizcyo Beatriz with Teisgol BJW18 JWW18. 3 year old bitch unfortunate to meet 1st on such good form. Lovely head and expression with balanced body proportions in good coat and condition. Moved very well and with purpose.

3rd Boughton Mr S & Mrs B – Braque D’Auvsergne, Parkbalk Ariel Dianell Avec Brwynstep.

Open – 2

1st Latherton & Trenchard Ms L & Mr M – Spaniel (Irish Water) , Sh Ch Fynder Reacher ShCEx. One I know from previous judging appointments. Now a Show Champion, and “Yes” I told you he was worthy of a title. This boy has just got better and better. I first judged him as a junior, I said then he was “A Showman in the Making” He has text book construction and oozes that one extra special ingredient Ring presence!! He moved as always true and sound. Pleased to award him Best of Breed.

2nd Roberts & Kent Mr D & Miss D – German Longhaired Pointer, Sarscott Dalglish. Elegant lad, who stands four square, he has the aristocratic appearance the standard requires. Good dentition, strong muscular neck with balanced body proportions. Moved out well, another unfortunate to meet 1st on such good form. Reserve Best of Breed.

1st Adams Mrs L – Ansona Priceless (AI), 14 month old young lady with feminine characteristics, who gave her handler a hard time on the move, but when she settled she moved efficiently around the ring. I liked her head with moderately long neck, balanced body and straight limbs. Strong hindquarters. In good coat & condition.

Limit 5 (1a) A close decision here.

1st Osborne-Fardon Mr R & Mrs L & Mr C – Silberliss Bombadier, Upstanding 3 year old boy, with masculine head & expression, straight well boned limbs, balanced in body with strong rear quarters, that are well muscled, which enabled him to power round the ring with style. Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd McLoughlin & Townsend Miss R & Mr C – Kalimor Tailor, Lovely feminine head and expression, good neck and front construction with straight limbs, neat in body with sound hindquarters. Presented in good coat & condition and moved on a very good stride.

3rd Brown & Filby MsA & Mr C – Desjiem Billy Don’t Be A Hero JW

Open 1

1st Upton-Lovett & Upton Mrs S & Miss H – Sh Ch Gunalt Lustrous With Roydack ShCEx. In super coat and condition belying her age, this lady has all the attributes I look for in this breed. Feminine head with typical expression, strong neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Straight front limbs with a balanced body, correct topline and tailset. Her strong hindquarters provided powerful drive on the move. Pleased to award her Best of Breed.

Retriever (Curly Coated)

Puppy 3 - Three siblings all at differing stages of growth.

1st Pavitt, Pavitt, Whitehead & Whitehead Mr D, Mrs S, Mr A M & Mrs D J – Foxriever Fire Cracker (AI), 1st and 2nd were very close, so very similar remarks apply. My winner was overall more together, Where his brother has a larger frame to fill and will take longer to come together. They both have lovely kind masculine heads and good tight curls. 1st is balanced in body and moved well when settled. Best Puppy.

2nd Sutton Whitehead & Whitehead Mrs E, Mrs D J & Mr A M - Foxriever Fire Fly (AI) This fellow has more bone and more size at the moment, but they are 2 lovely boys who I am sure will change places many times in the future.

3rd Whitehead Mr A M & Mrs D J – Foxriever Phoenix Rising.

Special Yearling 5 (1 withdrawn)

1st Clack, Clack, Battle-Hunter & Eddery – Krisbos Leonidas with Molokain (IKC). 15 month upstanding male. Super outline with masculine head, and kind expression, strong in neck and front angulation, straight front with plenty of bone. Impressive on the stack, but was a little unsettled on the move to begin with.

2nd Whitehead Mr A M & Mrs D J - Foxriever Sea Fyre. Feminine lady in all repects. Standing gives a lovely outline and kept her shape on the move.

3rd Pavitt, Pavitt, Whitehead & Whitehead Mr D, Mrs S, Mr A M & Mrs D J – Foxriever Fire Cracker (AI).

Limit 1

1st Clack, Eddery & Clack, Mrs E D, Mr L & Mr E. - Epsilon Adhara at Molokain (IKC). 2 year old bitch in lovely coat and bloom. Balanced outline on the stack, with a lovely femine head with mature body components, In fabulous bloom. Moved well from all angles. Reserve Best of Breed.

Open 3 (2a)

1st Clack, Eddery & Clack, Mrs E D, Mr L & Mrs E. – Sh Ch Molokain Hocus Pocus. One I have admired from the ringside. This lady took my eye on entering the ring, mature balanced outline with all the breed attributes the standard requires. Lovely balanced feminine head, strong neck with well laid back shoulders, deep in the chest and short coupled. She has strong muscular hindquarters, which no doubt powered her round the ring on an easy stride. Best of Breed.

Puppy 30 (13a) 2 lovely puppies headed this quality class.

1st Barham Mrs L J. – Pointer – Droveborough Witchy Woman, Pretty Liver & White young lady, who is very well schooled for her age. Standing gives a balanced outline and on the move she comes into her own, covering the ground with ease. Typical head and expression, strong muscular neck, flowing into balanced body. Straight front limbs with strong hindquarters. At one with her handler, one to watch for the future.

2nd Weyman, Mrs J. – Spaniel (English Springer) – Spuffing Bellini, at nearly a year old, this young lady has good balance on the stack, and moved very well, so unlucky to meet 1 on such good form today. Liver & White in super gleaming coat and oozing condition, lovely head and expression, superb angulation both front & rear, straight strong boned legs, altogether a very nice package.

3rd West Mrs C A. – Spaniel (Cocker) – Edaisy Dream Upon A Star By Sheigra.

Special Yearling 29 (19a)

1st Sladden & Webber Mr I & Mrs L. – Bracco Italiano - Canemamans Two Faced. Very feminine orange roan bitch, she is clean in outline with an easy-clean glossy coat. She has a very gentle head, balanced in body, Straight strong bone with tight elbows and very well muscled hindquarters, which gave her the power to drive around the ring with ease with lovey proud head carriage. She certainly did not let the heat of the afternoon interfere with her movement, which clinched her this class.

2nd Healey Ms M J. Retriever (Golden) – Marsabit Celtic Harp. Beautiful balance on this feminine girl, in lovely coat & bloom. Thought her my winner here today on my initial look around the ring, but unfortunately the searing heat got to her on the move. Kind head and expression good in neck and front construction, straight front, strength in topline, with sound hindquarters.

3rd Stilgoe, Stilgoe & Fox Mr P R, Mrs D E & Mrs L. Pointer – Teisgol Rose Campion JW

Limit 13 (11a) A very close decision between 1 & 2

1st Webb Mrs J. – Pointer - Tenshilling Jimmy Mack JW. Upstanding male of good overall proportions. Masculine head, good angulation all through, allowing him to power round the ring, absolutely oblivious to the heat of the day.

2nd Gardiner Miss A L. – Spaniel (English Springer) – Barecho Cover Girl of Svenjak (Imp Swe). A lovely example of the breed, presented in super coat and bloom, feminine in head with good neck and front construction. Deep chest and strong in the loin with well muscled hindquarters. Another who moved very well.

1st Latheron & Trenchard Ms L & Mr M. Irish Water Spaniel, Winner of A V N S C Gundog Open (See above).

2nd Wilson Mr A J. Retriever (Flat Coated) – Hameldowntor Pedro Ximenez. My notes say ‘Moved with Verve’ This boy, didn’t care how hot it was, he just powered round the ring with ease. Lovely masculine head with strong neck flowing into strong topline, deep chest with strong straight well boned front legs. Well muscled hindquarters, in beautiful coat & condition. Unlucky to meet 1st, who is a favourite of mine.

3rd Dennis Mrs M E. – Weimaraner, Silverweis Sparkler.

Special Veteran 7 – 9 Years 17 (6a)

1st Philo Ms S R. Pointer – Fydel Caprio at Salmonist JW ShCM OSW ShCEx VW. Thoroughly deserved his place here, Moved like a dream, belying his years, a balanced dog who is full of bred type, with lovely masculine headpiece.

2nd Williams Mr & Mrs T. – Spaniel (Welsh Springer) – Sh Ch Isfryn spot The Difference Trebettyn VW. Hard to believe this boy will be coming up 10 years old. Lovely outline which he keeps on the move, very distinguished head with deep muzzle and strong in topline.

3rd Sladden Mr I. – Bracco Italiano – Tyrbechgyn Believe You Will At Canemamans JW ShCEx OSW.

Special Veteran 10 + Years 2 (1a)

1st Barham Mrs L J. Pointer – Kenwardgold Minnie Me VW. Looking good standing four square on well boned straight limbs. Typical feminine head, good in body and topline, with lashing tail on the move.

Special Beginners 19 (10a)

1st Middleton-Collins Mrs R & Mr D. Retriever (Golden) – Berrymeade Dream On With Jasperleigh. Rising 1 year old, in rich gold coat & good condition, just coming into his own. Masculine head with superb dark pigmentation, well boned straight front legs with good tight feet. Level topline and correct tailset. Powered round the ring by his well muscled rear quarters.

2nd Shepherd Mrs J A. German Shorthaired Pointer -Orchidstar Platinium Strike. This lad has a lovely masculine head, good in neck & chest with well sprung ribs. Strong muscled hind quarters, standing 4 square. Moved out well.

3rd Barham Mrs L J. Pointer – Alozia Zephryne.

Gundog Group –

On my initial walk around the ring of this quality group I was thoroughly spoilt for choice. After careful examination of the exhibits, my eyes kept being drawn back to;

Group 1 - Hutton-Barber Messrs J & D – Spaniel (Cocker) – Babtonkelpie Galley Queen. This little lady has all the qualities I look for, presented in beautiful coat and condtion her confirmation is text book, but on the move she comes into her own.

Group 2 - Sladden Mr I. Bracco Italiano – Sh Ch Valcor The Confessor At Canemamans JW ShCEx OSW

Group 3 – Latherton & Trenchard Mrs L & Mr M – Irish Water Spaniel – Sh Ch Fynder Reacher ShCEx

Group 4 - List Ms L – Retriever (Golden) – Haydengold Gossip Girl JW. Full of quality, in super coat and condition, Love her clean lines on the stack, and she moves with reach, drive and keeps her shape and topline in profile.

A.V. Harvest Post Graduate Dog Stakes 18 (12)

1st Logvinenko Dr T. Borzoi – Lynx Faster Than Light of Noldoli JW (Imp Swe). Handsome boy who stood out in this class. Well Balanced, atristrocratic and elegant, lean long head with slightly arched neck leading into well developed body. Good bone and moved out with effortless power.

2nd Gill & Tobutt Miss N & Mr A. – Miniature Schnauzer – Wallensis Look What I Found for Geomondo. 14 month old, very smart, good balance standing and moving, presented in good harsh coat and condition.

3rd Skinner Miss S. – Collie (Rough) – Ladnar Makeithappen For Nikal.
