Perthshire Canine Club: General Open Show

Saturday 22nd November 2025

I would like to thank the committee and organisers for the invitation to judge. I had an enjoyable day and felt the overall quality of dogs was high. Well done to the organisers for putting on a well organised and successful day. Thanks go to my steward for both the breed rings and the final awards.

BEST IN SHOW: I had a strong line up for best in show, however I was very impressed with the overall condition, including coat quality of the Border Collie WALKER’S RAVENSKIRK PRETTY IN PINK. Movement was free and tireless with a smooth action. Nice proportions and balanced, and presented a smooth outline both standing and on the move. This athletic Border Collie stood out and did not disappoint on the move. Expertly handled and beautifully presented. Well done.

RESERVE BEST IN SHOW: GBGV Mcgregor’s CLAELA LETS DRINK A TOAST. BOB & HG 1: Nobel bearing, strong and active with great stamina. This hound continued to show off his free and well driven movement.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW: I found the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier a real eye catcher LUI’S EBLANAHALLS GOLD FASCINUS, 7 month old dog presented in good coat condition that showed off his compact and strong outline. Movement was free, graceful and lively showing good reach in front and well driven from the rear. A nicely put together puppy that shows great promise. Also awarded Best Special Minor Puppy in Show BPIS & BSMPIS

RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW Italian Spinone KNOWLES & KNOWLES FIORALBA LETS GO ROUND AGAIN WITH BESSALONE: 10 month old bitch with strong bone throughout with correct top line for breed with slight arch over loin, which was kept whilst on the move. Deep chest with good breadth, powerful and well-muscled neck set on well laid back shoulders. Free and relaxed movement well driven from the rear and reaching in front that allowed good coverage of the ring. A promising puppy to watch. RBPIS

BEST SPECIAL MINOR PUPPY IN SHOW: Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier same as Best Puppy in Show, LUI’S EBLANAHALLS GOLD FASCINUS. Continued to move true and show off his upstanding appearance. BSMPIS

RESERVE BEST SPECIAL MINOR PUPPY IN SHOW: Tibetan Spaniel 7 month old bitch ABERCROBLE’S TIBWOOD IT MEANS BEAUTIFUL: Balanced outline with good spring of rib and level topline. Attractive head with black rims, free from wrinkle and with depth and width of chin. Quick moving and positive, true coming and going. Coat silky, undercoat fine and dense with feathering developing nicely for age and gender. RBSMPIS

BEST SPECIAL VETERAN IN SHOW: Firstly, well done to all Veterans who made it through, I was very impressed with the depth of quality throughout and the soundness of movement with all those who I judged today. A real credit to all owners.

Odonnell’s IR CH KALASLANE REVENGE FOR NEUKIEBEAR VW SHCEX: The Russian Black Terrier caught my eye the moment it entered the ring. Presented in great condition and in good coat. Powerful muscular hindquarters that really drove on the move and covered the ground well. Large and imposing with heavy bone and robust frame. BSVIS

RESERVE BEST SPECIAL VETERAN IN SHOW: Murray’s HAPPYPAWS CAREFREE SHCM SHCEX VW: 11 year old Coton De Tulear bitch presenting in immaculate condition. Coat was full and supple and standing away from the body, with cotton texture of high quality. Dark pigmentation on eye rims and black nose, with no tear staining present. Movement was sound, free and smooth. Presented in good fitness and was a pleasure to watch use the ring with ease. RBSVIS

BEST IMPORT REGISTER IN SHOW: Leitch’s OLJAFI ANGEL'S DREAM: Almost 2 year old Barbet, sadly stood alone but still deserving of Best Import Register in Show. Presented in rustic condition showing an athletic frame and dense covering of curly hair. Movement was easy and powerful whilst keeping a level topline on the move. Covered the ring with ease presenting a balanced outline both standing and on the move . BIRIS

BEST CHAMPION IN SHOW: Logie’s Sh Ch Graff III Vom Busshof at Albadhu: Large Munsterlander 2-year-old dog sadly standing alone in this challenge, but still a worthy champion for his breed. Movement was free and long striding with plenty of muscle throughout showing an athletic dog that had power in the rear to allow the ground to be covered with ease. Presented in good muscular condition and fitness. BCIS

BEST HANDLER IN SHOW: Erin Logie – Demonstrated knowledge of conformation, showed empathetic handling and was able to show of the strong movement of this breed and it’s athleticism. Instruction and following of movement lines was clearly followed. Expertly handled, well done. BHIS

HOUND GROUP

1st GBGV: Mcgregor’s CLAELA LETS DRINK A TOAST: Not only did his movement stand out in the breed class but he continued to show off his noble head and tail carriage, strong, free and great driving movement; by demonstrating the breed’s stamina in both the group and through to Reserve Best in Show

2nd Saluki: Phillips’s CH LUACHMHAR JAMILAH SHCEX. Beautiful mover, light and lifting whilst covering the ground with ease.

3rd PBGV: Wyllie’s CALLYDENA RACHECCO: Turned it up a level in the group with powerfully driven movement, lively attitude and proud head carriage both standing and on the move.

4th Irish Wolfhound: Lyons, Malinkeys Angelica, 3 year old bitch of commanding appearance. Dark eye and feminine expression with neat rose ears. Good breadth and depth of chest with curvaceous outline. Movement was sound, easy and active and well driven from the rear with good reach at front. Covered the ground with ease, her movement awarding her group 4.

HOUND PUPPY GROUP

1st PBGV: Wyllie’s TANGAER JEMIMA PUDDLEDUCK AT CALLYDENA: In the puppy ground ring, her proud outline on the move and happiness in the ring gave her that extra appeal, a very promising puppy.

2nd Basset: Meldrum’s CINTAL SECRET CAWDOR, Strongly driven from the rear and really enjoyed being in this larger group. Sound moving with drive.

3rd Beagle Findlay & Christie’s RHICONICH MIDAS TOUCH: Free striding movement keeping topline on the move.

4th Rhodesian Ridgeback: Field & Field’s KALABANEY HIGHLAND LASS: Sound moving throughout.

AFGHAN

Open (1,0)

1.Butt’s, RHAJIKHAN PHOENIX RISING: 2 year old dog with proud head carriage both standing and on the move. Balanced out line of good proportions and level back, nicely muscled for age but still not fully mature. Coat long and of fine texture, kept in quality condition. Masculine features with good pigment and low set ears. Movement was smooth and springy and covered the ground with ease.

BASSET GRIFFON VENDEEN (GRAND)

Post Graduate (1,0)

1. Buchanan & Maclaren’s TARMACHAN MAC TALLA: 11 month old dog with noble and proud head carriage both standing and on the move. Clean and well laid-back shoulders well boned throughout. Strong and muscular hindquarters. Well driven from the rear but sadly today the front action was not straight coming, with one front legs sadly turning out both standing and on the move. Hopefully this is just due to age and having good bone to grow into, I hope this settles as this dog presents a strong profile standing. It would have been nice to have seen this exhibit moving again in the puppy group to see if the front movement would settle, understandably it was a long day for such a young pup. BPIB

1. Mcgregor’s CLAELA LETS DRINK A TOAST: 3 year old dog well balanced, Nobel head with proud head and tail carriage. Clean shoulder that was well laid back, straight forelegs and well boned throughout with strong slightly sloping pasterns. Good length of back and well ribbed back with level topline and muscled loin. Good depth and breadth of chest presenting prominent forechest. Strong and muscular hindquarters with moderate bend of stifle and good width of stifle. Rough topcoat with thick undercoat presented in natural appearance with no exaggeration and no over-trimming. Free movement with great drive, straight front coming and reaching well forward, easy well driven hind movement covering the ground with ease. Not only did his movement stand out in the breed class but continued to show off his noble head and tail carriage, strong, free and great driving by demonstrating the breed’s stamina in both the group and through to Reserve Best in Show. 2. Mcgregor’s CH IR CH CLAELA INFINITY AND BEYOND: 4 year old dog, when checking the catalogue is the sire of the 1st place, both of similar type and much the same applies, today I preferred the enthusiasm and drive of the 1st place on the move, however this was minimal and he pushed the 1st place hard on the move.

1. Wyllie’s TANGAER JEMIMA PUDDLEDUCK AT CALLYDENA: 7 month old bitch really enjoying her time in the ring. Happy and alert both standing and on the move. Proud head carriage and tail. Free movement and well driven and straight front action reaching well forward. Rough coat with thick undercoat building nicely for age, presented in natural appearance. Front assembly showed clean shoulders with equal length of upper arm to shoulder, correct elbow placement and well boned throughout. Strong muscular hindquarters with good bend of stifle and well let down hocks, that drove underneath to power around the ring and cover it with ease. In the puppy ground ring, her proud outline on the move and happiness in the ring gave her that extra appeal, a very promising puppy. BPIB & HPG1

2. Gilluley’s BALLENCRIEFF BERNERAY: 10 month old dog Compact and attractive youngster with good bend of stifle and muscular hindquarters. I would have liked more length of upper arm and preferred the reach in front on the move of the 1st place.

1. Wyllie’s CALLYDENA RACHECCO: 3 year old bitch of balanced outline, compact and in good muscular condition and fitness. Strong and muscular hindquarters, good bend of stifle, well defined second thigh which allowed for drive on the move. Free moving with straight front action reaching well. Tight padded feet under straight forearms and clean shoulder with equal length of upper arm. Presented in natural appearance with thick undercoat and rough topcoat. Proud head carriage both standing and, on the move, Turned it up a level in the group with powerfully driven movement, lively attitude and proud head carriage. BOB & HG3

2. Wyllie’s CALLYDENA MOWDIE MISS CHIEF: 6 year old bitch, on checking the catalogue, is the dam of the 1st place and much of the same type as her progeny. I preferred the hind quarters of that of the 1st, desiring more bend of stifle.

1. Meldrum’s CINTAL SECRET CAWDOR: 9 month old bitch in good condition with substance and sound effortless movement. Good ground clearance and prominent breastbone. Covered the ring with ease and kept a clean outline both standing and on the move. Calm and gentle expression with femininity. Really showed her movement in the puppy group and covered the ground with ease, strongly driven from the rear keeping a clean outline throughout. BPIB, HPG2

2. Oneil’s CINTAL SECRET CRATHES: 9 month old dog, litter sibling of the 1st. Much the same applies but in a masculine form. Movement wasn’t as sound as that of the 1st but was much more raw and needs time to settle into his frame.

1. Miller’s MANDALA ZSENNEJ KRAINY OF TAYJINX: 4 year old bitch in fit muscular condition with substance and nothing over exaggerated. Good ground clearance Movement was sound, effortless and true both coming and going. Powerfully driven from the rear and covered the ground with ease. Well set on tail that was carried well on the move presenting a clean outline both standing and on the move. BOB

2. Meldrum’s CINTAL SECRET ANNAN: 9 month old bitch, litter sister to 1st and 2nd in PG and much the same applies. Heavier set than that of the 1st and therefore wasn’t as effortless on the move. Still a promising youngster.

1. Findlay & Christie’s RHICONICH MIDAS TOUCH: A sturdy 10 month old dog of balanced proportions and compactly built. Tight and firm feet well knuckled and strongly padded. Movement was sound, free striding with long reach in front, well driven from the rear. Nice outline both standing and on the move with a sturdy tail carriage throughout. A promising youngster. 2. Findlay’s RHICONICH GOLDIE HAWN: 10 month old bitch, litter sibling to the 1st. These 2 were hard to separate and I am sure could change places, much the same applies however not as together in front as that of her brother at this stage and I preferred the reach in front of the 1st.

1. Kasprowicz’s DANIELLO DIAMOND DOVE: 10 month old chocolate and tan dog, presenting a balanced outline both standing and on the move. Good ground clearance and nicely ribbed back. Good length of upper arm but needs time to firm up in front. Good reach in front and powerfully driven from the rear with good width of pelvis. A Promising youngster BOB & BPIB

2. Morrin’s ZILCAN VANILLA ICE FOR ARLATDAX JW: 21-month-old shaded cream dog nicely ribbed back and powerful rear with good drive. Would have preferred more reach in front. Level top line, that was held well on the move. Coat of good quality, well presented and handled.

1. Kirkwood-Emery’s MARVALE ROSEFINCH AT HELYDON: 2 year old bitch in good muscular condition and well ribbed back, presenting balanced outline with level topline both standing and on the move. Sound, free flowing movement with drive from the rear and reaching in front, parallel coming and going. Gentle and feminine expression with good pigment for this colour. BOB

1. Kirkwood-Emery’s HELYDON XTRA XPECIAL JW: 1 year old dog with balanced outline and well ribbed back. Harsh coat presented in good condition with amble furnishings. Powerful and muscular rear with good width of pelvis, allowing drive on the move. Kept topline on the move, good reach at the front and well driven from the rear, true coming and going. A Promising youngster. BOB

2. Kirkkwood-Emery’s HELYDON XEPTIONAL XAYA JW: 1 year old bitch, litter sister to the 1st and much the same applies but in a feminine package. Two cracking little Mini Wires who I am sure will change places on different days. I preferred the front extension on the 1st on the move. A promising youngster.

1. Balfour & Balfour’s CLENTRY MANGO PASSION SHCEX: 3 year old bitch of balanced outline and nicely ribbed back. Good amount of ground clearance and presented in muscular condition. Powerful mover with good front extension and powerful drive from the rear, covering the ground with ease and keeping topline throughout. Gentle expression with feminine qualities, coat with deep shine. BOB

2. Balfour & Balfour’s CLENTRY STEAL THE LIMELIGHT: 1 year old bitch with another gentle expression and feminine qualities, nicely ribbed back and kept topline on the move. Movement was sound and driving but would have preferred more ground clearance.

1. Christie & Christie’s CLOUDSIDE VALENTINO AT DECALLEIGH JW SHCEX OSW: 2 year old dog presented with harsh coat and in muscular condition, balanced proportions and strong topline. Good length of upper arm that aided with good length of reach at front on the move, good width of pelvis and muscular hindquarters that drove around the ring, covering the ground with ease. Well ribbed back and held outline and topline on the move, true coming and going. BOB

2. Christie & Christie’s TANNAHILL BERGEN AT DECALLEIGH: 7 year old dog, well ribbed back and presented with good harsh coat and in muscular condition. Well driven from the rear bit not the same reach in front as that of the 1st place.

1. Field & Field’s KALABANEY HIGHLAND LASS: 10 month old bitch, balanced and symmetrical outline with good bone and substance with distinctive ridge. Intelligent expression and dark pigment. Sound movement, free and active covering the ground with ease. Continued to show sound movement in the puppy group. BPIB & HPG 4

1. Mccluskey’s JIMANNS HUD YER WHEESHT: 4 year old substantial bitch presented in good muscle with symmetrical outline and clearly defined ridge. Sound movement, free and active. Intelligent expression and good pigment. Stood naturally and moved soundly.

2. Shaw’s NEGASI GOLDBERRY: 2 year old bitch of good symmetry, strong neck and nice width of stifle. I preferred the bone of the 1st.

Open (7, 4a)

1. Field’s JELANY RED FLORENCIA AT KALABANEY: 6 year old bitch presented in muscular and fit condition with balanced and symmetrical outline and clearly defined ridge. Sound movement, free and active that covered the ground with ease. Intelligent expression and good pigment with feminine qualities. Good layback of shoulder, clean and muscular, strong neck and substantial bone but not overdone. BOB

2. Ritchie’s JIMANNS HELL ON HEELS: 2 year old bitch in powerful and muscular condition. I preferred the front construction of the 1st place.

1. Phillips, LUCACHMHAR JALA: 4 year old bitch with graceful outline. Smooth, effortless, light and lifting movement. Balanced outline with femineity and presented in good coat condition.

2. Blythe’s LUACHMHAR JASIYAH: 4 year old bitch, litter sister to the 1stt and much the same applies , Smooth and effortless movement but not the same drive as that of the 1st.

1. Phillips’s CH LUACHMHAR JAMILAH SHCEX: 4 year old bitch presenting a graceful and balanced outline both standing and on the move. Movement was smooth and effortless with reach and front and drive from the rear, covering the ground easily with a light and lifting stride. Quality feminine head with good pigment and in good coat with smooth and silky texture. Her effortless movement stood out in the group where she continued to show her light and lifting stride. 2. Simpson’s ZXYLASAHLAAM GEA’RR: Firstly apologies if the details are not correct as there was an error in the entry / catalogue. An attractive male presented with good silky coat. Sadly wasn’t as settled on the move as that of the 1st.

1. Lindsey’s CELTICMOON MIDNIGHT SHADOW AT SILVERTHYME: 6 month old bitch who presented a graceful and curvaceous outline both standing and on the move. Feminine head with gentle expression and good width between the eyes. Neat rose ears that were held well. Movement was sound but not as free in action, but was forgiven as this was her fist show. Fine, short coat nicely presented and handled. A promising youngster. BPIB

Post Graduate

1. Leslie’s WINDWALKER EDDIE BROCK: 4 year old dog in fit muscular condition and fully mature. Graceful and flowing outline with masculine qualities. Head was long, lean with well held rose ears. Long, muscular neck with elegant arch. Movement was sound but occasionally high stepped, however this could be contributed to the cold conditions. BOB

1. Spacey’s NCHYDONEY MEMORIES VLADY MUSCAT AT HALLIMANS: Greyhound 1 year old bitch, strongly built with generous proportions and symmetrical formation. Curvaceous outline both standing and on the move, and presented in muscular condition with good fitness . Free striding movement with drive from the rear with hindlegs coming well under body giving great propulsion and covering the ground with ease. BOB (BAVNSC).

Open (4,2a)

1. Leiper’s JACO DELLA BAIA DELLE SIRENE: Cirneco Dell Etna, 2 year od bitch in good muscular condition and fitness. Sound movement that really showed off a springy trot. High set and erect ears, with attractive well chiselled foreface. Clean, muscular and well arched neck set on strong shoulders. A balanced bitch that enjoyed herself in the ring without excessive extension on the move.

2. Cruickshank & Cruickshank’s WYCHWAY-CROWN’S GHILLIE GINS ISLAND AT CULSALMOND: Bloodhound, 3 year old bitch presented in muscular condition and good fitness. Elastic and sound movement that covered the ground. Long thick tail carried nicely on the move. Attractive head with femineity and nice ear set, I would have preferred more length of neck.

AV HOUND MINOR PUPPY (9, 3a)

1. Wyllie’s Tangaer Jemima Puddleduck At Callydena: PBGV, As BPIB in PBGV. I was very impressed with the sound movement of this youngster which just edged her in this class.

2. Scott’s EXTRAORDINARY ENAR OF CUBADEL AT MALINKEY: Irish Wolfhound 7 month old upstanding dog with raw frame at present. Masculine head with neat rose ears and dark eye. Deep chest with good breadth. Movement settled and showed good drive and reach at front. There is lots to like about this male, I look forward to meeting him again as a mature hound.

3. Oneil’s Cintal Secret Crathes: Basset, placed 2nd in PG Basset.

AV HOUND PUPPY (6, 3a)

1. Findlay & Christie’s Rhiconich Midas Touch: Beagle, as BOB & BPIB Beagle. Movement was free striding with drive from the rear and long reaching in front.

2. Kasprowicz’s DANIELLO DREAM LADY: Dachshund - Miniature Long, litter sibling to that of the BOB & BPIB Miniature Long Dachshund. 10 month old Chocolate Dapple and Tan. Well ribbed back with good ground clearance. Held topline on the move but a bit loose in front, which may settle with time.

3. Oneil’s Cintal Secret Crathes: Basset, placed 2nd in PG Basset, 3rd in AV Hound MP

AV HOUND OPEN (7,5a)

1. Leslie’s WINDWALKER AFISSA: Whippet, 5 year old bitch who if was presented to me in the breed class would have been awarded BOB and I would have liked to have seen her competing in the group, where she would have been seriously considered. Balanced proportions and in good muscular condition that also combined elegance and grace. Attractive head and expression with feminine qualities and rose ears held nicely. Long and muscular neck with elegant arch. Deep chest and well filled in front with powerful hind quarters. Movement was easy and true with power and drive at the rear, a nice daisy cutting action both in profile and coming. It was a pleasure to be given the opportunity to judge her.

2. Mccluskey’s Jimanns Hud Yer Wheesht: Rhodesian Ridgeback, as in 1st PG Rhodesian Ridgeback. Wasn’t as enthusiastic in this class as the breed class and did not move as well as that of the 1st.

AV HOUND VETERAN (2,0)

1. Brown’s ERYLAN IRIS DAME ARC EN CIEL: PBGV 7 year old bitch presented in natural coat condition, rough with thick undercoat. Compact and well balanced, clean and well laid back shoulders with good length of upper arm, well boned and good muscle. Free movement with good drive and straight front action.

2. Christie & Christie’s Tannahill Bergen At Decalleigh: Dachshund -Wire, As 2nd in Dachshund-Wire Open. Preferred the front angulation of the 1st place.

AV HOUND CHAMPION (4, 2)

1. Phillips’s Ch Luachmhar Jamilah Shcex: Saluki, As BOB Saluki. Movement was smooth and effortless showing reach and drive that covered the ring with ease.

2. Brown’s Ir Ch Erylan Chaud Comme Hades An Ch 23, Cw24,25: PBGV, 3rd in PBGV Open. 6 year old dog with rough coat, no exaggeration and thick undercoat presented in correct natural condition. Proudly carried head carriage and compact hound but I preferred the movement of the 1st.
