Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society – Premier Open show

13th July 2025

ITALIAN SPINONE

POST GRADUATE (4, 1 abs)

1st – Coldwell’s Lucoru Perpetual Spring. BOB.

2 year old bitch of solid square appearance. Good bone and substance, large tight feet all round. Loved her head and expression, balanced proportions of skull to muzzle, strong neck well set into sloping shoulders, broad chest, impressive depth of body and well ribbed back, muscular hindquarters, good tail carriage, thick dense coat in wonderful condition. Needs to settle, but great to see her so full of fun, enjoying herself. Well handled.

2nd McGregor’s Fiducia Chamlang. RBOB.

Strong neck and typical top line, adequate angulation which was balanced at each end. Pleasing depth of body but loin a tad longer than I would prefer. Moved steadily and in a relaxed manner, carried her tail well, at one with her able handler. Preferred head to Open winner when deciding RBOB.

3rd Davies’ Fiducia Everest.

OPEN (6, 4 abs)

1st McGregor & Wright’s Diggmere Mary’s Chi Bloom.

3 year old bitch, square outline, deep body, good spring, depth and length of rib cage, short strong loin, broad croup. Stifles well bent, rear pasterns parallel from behind. Would prefer slightly more depth of muzzle to match skull. Responded well to kind handler, free stride, covered ground well.

2nd Saynor’s Testaverde Rugero Raimondi.

Brown roan male with super masculine head, balanced and with well developed median line, oval skull, strong muzzle, kind expression, eyebrows and beard added to his great character. Chest could do with being a bit broader, straight front legs with good oval bone. Loin ever so slightly longer than ideal. Firm hindquarters, long thighs and short hind pasterns, moved well. A tidier mouth would have pushed him into 1st place. At 6 and a half years old he is a credit to his owner.

AMERICAN COCKER SPANIELS

PUPPY (2, 0 abs)

1st Clay’s Americlass Dita Von Parti. BP. RBOB.

Clean and well presented black and white coated bitch. 8 and a half months old, and learning her job very well, a natural showgirl. Refined head, very pretty face, loved her expression, alert and kind. Well boned straight legs, good depth of body, hind legs parallel from behind. Preferred her length of rib to 2nd today.

2nd Clay’s Americlass Hollywood Parti.

Litter brother to 1st, many of the same comments apply, a very promising pair of babies. Presentation equally impressive, black and white coat, well handled, movement smooth and efficient. Attractive head, very good length of neck with slight arch, straight legs, well bent stifles, hocks low to the ground. Slightly longer loin than his sister, but he has time for his rib cage to develop further back.

JUNIOR (1, 0 abs)

1st Glover’s Yankeetank Princess Ida at Mickcals.

Well presented black and tan jacket on this 14 month old pretty bitch. Liked her spring of rib, good firm top line, well set on tail, pleasing hindquarters, good bend of stifle, hocks well let down. Lovely feminine head but would prefer slightly more length of neck, and better angulation of shoulder, movement wasn’t as smooth today. Carrying just the right amount of weight, well schooled and well handled.

OPEN (2, 0 abs)

1st Dummett & Vikhrova’s Nova Story Boogie Woogie (imp MNE) JW. BOB.

Well made sturdy dog, exudes quality and ring presence. Movement was a joy to watch in profile, effortless and efficient. A bit untidy when moving away but straight and true coming towards. Super masculine head, slight crest of neck, deep chest and deep ribs, solid top line, ribs extend well back to short loin, broad hindquarters with good muscle tone. Well boned legs and well padded feet. Tri coloured coat, at one with his handler, what a great rapport they have.

2nd Glover’s Almondsbury In The Night at Mickcals.

Luxurious coat, beautifully presented. Feminine head, rounded skull, deep muzzle, good stop, obvious eyebrows. Lovely arch of neck, strong legs and feet, deep body, gentle slope of top line was more exaggerated at croup, tail set on a little bit low. Would prefer slightly longer rib cage.

LABRADORS

PUPPY (6, 1 abs)

1st Gordon-Smith & Bibby’s Meadowline Whizz Bang at Bruxinho. BP. RBOB. PG2.

Promising puppy teeming with quality, it was a pleasure to judge her. Strong and muscular all through, pleasing substance, well boned straight legs, round compact feet. Black jacket, 8 months of age and a great head already, very feminine, broad skull, good stop, strong muzzle. Good length of clean neck to impressive shoulders, excellent length and slope of blade. Good depth through brisket and broad strong chest. Flow from neck through withers to top line easy on the eye, level top line, well sprung ribs, plenty of width across thigh, well turned stifles. Well set on otter shaped tail. Attentive to her expert handler, together they make a great team.

2nd Hughes’ Riverflow Midnight Legacy NAF, TAF.

Exquisite outline of this yellow coated 8 month old bitch, she caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Didn’t have quite enough bone or substance today. Appealing demeanor, biddable, kind, sweet natured. Well laid shoulders, straight front, feet facing forwards, level top line, tail well set on. Well schooled, moved with accurate footfall, covered the ground well, gentle handler got the best from her.

3rd Gordon-Smith & Bibby’s Bruxinho Chattahoochee,

JUNIOR (4, 1 abs)

1st Gordon-Smith & Bibby’s B Chattahoochee.

Was 3rd in the strong puppy class, was more settled here. Won this class with her excellent reach and drive, she powered round the ring covering the ground effortlessly. Clean neck of good length well set into sloping shoulders. Straight legs, slightly lighter bone, barrel shaped rib cage, good depth of body, strong hindquarters.

2nd Pickin’s Edenwood Hinch.

Would like to see this 13 month old male stride out more, and to be gaited a little faster. Glorious chocolate coloured coat in excellent condition, attractive well shaped head, slightly rounded broad skull, medium sized ears which he used well, gentle expression from kind eye, muzzle broad and deep. Good bone and feet, pleasing spring and depth of rib cage which reached well back to short strong loin. Tail set on ever so slightly high which may have been the reason for his high tail carriage on the move today. Responded well to his kind handler.

3rd Merrington’s Sanpollo Jack Frost.

POST GRADUATE (9, 5 abs)

1st Thompson & Gordon-Smith’s Meadowline Jurisprudence.

Black coated bitch with a super head, well shaped and feminine. Good length of neck, angulation balanced at each end, excellent spring of rib reaching well back, pleasing width across thighs, stifles well bent, hocks low to the ground. Expertly handled, covered the ground well in profile, just slightly untidy coming towards today.

2nd Markham’s Knowjoes Bwalya Sabine Ania.

A lovely bitch with a feminine head and balanced outline. Deep chest, plenty of heart room, good depth and spring of rib, well developed hindquarters, well bent stifles, rear pasterns parallel from behind. Straight legs fore and aft, accurate footfall. Preferred movement but coat was rather poor today. Displayed a strong will to please her kind and able handler,

3rd Thompson & Gordon-Smith’s Meadlowline Mogul.

OPEN (8, 6 abs)

1st Gannaway-Jones’s Scarisbrick Skyfall Into Mossland. BOB.

A super bitch teeming with quality, strength and substance all through, broad, well developed and muscular, dense yellow coat gleamed in the sunshine. Appealing feminine head, kind expression, strong clean neck, very good lay of shoulder, good bone, round feet with arched toes. Level top line, barrel shaped rib cage to short strong loin. Powerful hind quarters which she used well to drive round the ring with effortless ground covering stride. I was surprised to hear she is 9 years old!

2nd Gannaway-Jones’s Scarisbrick Salt Marsh.

Quality 5 year old male, losing his coat today. He powered round the ring with well boned straight legs, good reach in front and drive from behind. Clean cut head, broad skull, defined stop, kind and friendly expression from medium sized eyes. Appealing body properties, well shaped ribs, broad loin, strong hind quarters, legs parallel from behind. Well handled.

CLUMBER SPANIELS

JUNIOR (1, 0 abs)

1st Guy’s Suelynda Dream Dreamer to Jahanghir. RBOB.

Masculine square shaped head, broad skull, plenty of stop, muzzle wide and deep. Fairly long neck, very good front assembly with sloping shoulders, short strong legs fore and aft. Ribs well sprung, but I would have preferred more length of rib cage, and slightly less length of loin. Pleasing hind quarters, good turn of stifle. At just 16 months of age he has plenty of time to develop further and to muscle up. Was not very active today, it may have been caused by the heat.

POST GRADUATE (1, 0 abs)

1st Husbands’ Bebecova Quicksilver. BOB.

Balanced outline and attractive masculine head on this 2 and a half year old male, thick full coat with attractive feathering. Neck flowed without a break to positive top line, good depth of body, well ribbed back, strong loin, correct depth through flank. Pleasing front assembly, short strong legs, well clothed large round feet. Handler please watch because when standing he can straighten his stifles, but on the move his bend of stifle was there for all to see.
