The British Rottweiler Association Championship Show 18th July 2026

Firstly, I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge the Special Award classes at this pristine show it was an honour. The venue is one of my favourites with plenty of space and excellent size ring for our breed. 

Thank you to my kind steward who kept the smooth running of classes. A big thank you to all the exhibitors for giving me a good entry and to those who took my decision well showing good sportsmanship.

Special Award Puppy D/B

1st DARKUS UBERMENSCH (McGrath’s) 9mth old male who is a substantial puppy with excellent bone that caught my eye. He has a broad clean head with well boned cheeks, correct high set ears, dark almond eyes, broad muzzle with level topline, correct bite and black flews, chest broad developing well, well sprung ribs, strong neck and good shoulders, broad croup with correct tail set and carriage, good depth of brisket, strong forelegs with elbows well let down, good width to thighs with good bend of stifle, correct feet, muscles developing well, correct coat with well-define rich tan markings. I was pleased after the second attempt the handler was able to keep his movement flowing to assess he was sound prior to making my decision. Although he showed good gait movement he would benefit from front pasterns being strengthening, I can appreciatethis will come in time. His placing was well deserved against the breed standard as he excelled with a strong straight back, strong hocks and rear pasterns.

Special Award Yearling D/B

1st TANEVEN DIXIE JW (Jackson & Rogerson) 18mth old medium size proportional female with a pleasing profile. She has a broad feminine head with moderate wrinkle, well boned muscled cheeks, high set ears a little longer then desired nevertheless carried well, dark almond eyes giving an alert expression, broad muzzle with level topline, correct bite and black flews, chest broad developing well, well sprung ribs, strong neck and good shoulders, strong straight back, broad croup with correct tail set and carriage, good depth of brisket, strong forelegs with elbows well let down, good width to thighs with good bend of stifle, strong hocks and front/rear pasterns standing on correct feet, good bone and substance with muscles prominent, correct coat with define mahogany markings. Although she lacked the drive in the rear today, she moves unrestricted at the correct trotting pace with her back remaining firm. She is a lovely girl that caught my eye from the start with her clean outlines.

2nd Chantavory’s Wonder Boy (Moss’s) 18mth old male who is well developed for age with ring presents. He has a broad masculine head with moderate wrinkle, well boned muscled cheeks, correct high set ears, dark eyes that are slightly round then almond when alert, muzzle broad with level topline, correct bite and black flews, broad well developed chest, well sprung ribs, strong neck leading into good laid back shoulders, straight back, broad croup with correct tail set and carriage, good depth of brisket, strong forelegs and elbows well let down, good width to thighs with good bend of stifle, well angulated hocks, strong front and rear pasterns, correct feet, excellent bone and substance with muscles prominent, correct coat with mahogany markings although a little sooty down the forelegs, moved well showing endurance with a powerful drive action although low to the ground where he is short on the leg nevertheless offers many attributes. One that is already have much success.

Special Award Open D/B

1st Abacab’s Duchess (Willis-Impey’s) 4yr old who is a powerful female with the most pleasing feminine broad head type clean from wrinkle. She has well boned muscled cheeks, correct high set ears, dark almond eyes giving an alert expression, well-defined stop, broad muzzle of good length with level topline, correct bite and black flews, broad well developed chest, well sprung ribs, strong neck with good reach, good shoulders, strong straight back, broad croup with correct tail set and carriage, good depth of brisket, strong forelegs with elbows well let down, good width to thighs with good bend of stifle, strong hocks and front/rear pasterns standing on correct feet, good bone and substance with muscles prominent, correct coat with define rich tan markings. She moved well with drive and purpose showing endurance. I would prefer a little more on the leg nevertheless an honest girl who is deserving.

2nd Ausrie’s Whirl Wind (Austen’s) 7yr old medium size female presented in pleasing hard condition for her age. She has a broad feminine clean head with moderate wrinkle when alert, well boned muscled cheeks, ears set wide apart although not high as desired, dark almond eyes giving an alert expression, broad muzzle with level topline, correct bite, broad well developed chest, well sprung ribs, strong neck and good shoulders, strong straight back, broad croup with correct tail set and carriage, good depth of brisket, strong forelegs with elbows well let down, good bend of stifle just lacking in width to thighs, strong hocks and front/rear pasterns standing on correct feet, good bone and substance with muscles prominent, correct coat with define tan markings, moved well with good ground covering. I would have preferred her ears lying close to check nevertheless they did hang correctly and handler done well to get the best expression.
