Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at your show, the refreshments available for judges were excellent as were the staff who were overseeing these areas.

I have to say I was very impressed with all the puppies on the day, they all had amazing temperaments, and dealt with their first experience in the ring extremely well.

Puppy Dog (2)

1st Bull’s GUNNERBEARS JOHN DEERE – 6mth of good size with lovely bone and substance, and the most adorable temperament. Broad flat skull, muzzle of good length, both having good parallels, with medium stop, large nose, correct bite. Ears set well and lying close to cheek. Pleasing front, chest has good width, stands straight in front. Liked his body length and depth. Hindquarters are moderately angled, which he used well on the move, but didn’t always show it in stance. Tail set and carriage is good. Moved sound with strength in hocks for age. BPD & RBD

2nd Harris’ GUNNERBEARS MASEY FERGUSON – 6mth and litter brother to 1st place. At present he is not quite as balanced. Broad flat skull, medium stop, good eye. Ear size set and carriage is good. Lovely neck. Body developing well. Lovely rear angles which he uses well. Nice tail set. Good bone throughout, with nice cover. Moved sound.

Open Dog (1)

1st Clelford’s KENIG FOREIN BLEK BERKUT (IMP RUS) – Mature male of 5 years, lovely head proportions, flat skull of good width, medium stop, muzzle of good length with large black nose and in parallel to skull. Medium ear set well and carried close, brown eye. Moderate length of neck onto a good front with elbows tight to chest which is of good depth. Top line is strong and held firm at all times. Rib cage not as well sprung as I would prefer, chest is of good depth but width is lacking causing him to turn out in front. Hindquarters are well angled, hocks are strong which he drives off well with on the move. Lovely tail set and carriage. Movement is sound, although he looked erratic at times. Handler needs to try to relax and enjoy the ring with this boy, lead length is too long on the move, where dog and handler are not moving as one. This dog is a steady mover that covers the ground well, he does not need to sprint as his angles allow him to do the work. BD & BOSIB

Puppy Bitch (4, 1abs)

1st Mercer’s GUNNERBEARS FASTRAC TO LARKHARBOUR – A very well-proportioned puppy. Head is attractive, skull broad, dark eye, good width to muzzle which is of correct length. Her body is well developed for her age, with a nice spring of rib, elbows lay close to chest which has good width. Stands straight in front onto lovely tight feet. Neck is of correct length and blends well onto a good topline. Great tail set. Hind quarters are well angled and already show strength, hocks are firm. Moved well in all directions whilst maintaining her outline at all times. Lovely pup who I am sure will mature on in the same way. BPB & BPIB

2nd Hammond’s GUNNERBEARS NEW HOLLAND VON KOSCHEI – Another lovely pup from this litter, not much in these two girls. Good size bitch, with correct bone. Good head, with nice width to skull, good stop and muzzle, ear carriage is correct. Nice neck onto a good body which is developing well. Rear angles are good with strength and she uses them well on the move, just not quite as tidy in front on the day as chest needs to broaden which will allow her to straighten up in front. Presented a pleasing picture in side profile movement.

3rd Bull’s GUNNERBEARS VALTRA – A critique is not asked for third place however, this young lady caught my eye when she initially came in the ring. She is very shapely, and slightly different to her litter sisters, however I feel that once she matures and firms up, she will appeal to many as I’m sure her angles will enable to move with ease. Again, another one to watch for in the future.

Post Graduate Bitch (2, 1abs)

1st Mercer’s DROMNAGUS HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT AT LARKHARBOUR – 3 year bitch who is very mature. Lots to like about her, her angles are good she has a lovely lay of shoulder and return of upper arm, elbows lay close to chest. She has a good spring of rib, on the stance top line is held well, rear angles match front well. Strength in hock is shown as she drives off on the move. Head is proportioned well, with good skull and muzzle, ear set and carriage is correct. Presented in lovely condition, coat and trimmings were super. Pushed hard in the challenge.

Open Bitch (3, 1abs)

1st Williams’ IR Ch EVRUSSKY BLACK WIDOW (AI) – A very striking bitch, love her size and bone, strong yet feminine throughout. Strong head, broad skull, muzzle of correct length and width, with large black nose, good stop, dark eye. Strong neck leads to a good front, stands straight in front onto correct feet. Rib cage is well sprung, with correct depth to enable elbows to meet dept of chest. Broad and firm in loin. Lovely firm top line. Hindquarters are well angled, first thigh of nice width and strength with good turn of stifle to a strong second thigh. Hocks are firm. On the move she covered the ground with ease, with free movement. Turned out well with good coat and trimmings. BB, BOB and then later in the group so pleased to see her take WG3.

2nd Bull’s LARKHARBOUR KAWASAKI AT GUNNERBEARS – A lovely mature bitch I have judged before, and also the dam to the super pups present on the day, she has passed on lots of qualities she carries to her pups. She has super bone, with a very appealing head. Skull is broad and flat, with muzzle of good length and width. Ear set and carriage is good. Trimmings on head enhances her appeal. Strong neck of fair length, body is well developed, with good spring of rib. Broad loin, croup is good as is tail set and carriage. Moderately angled hindquarters with strong hocks. A lovely bitch that moves sound. RBB

Veteran Bitch (2, 1abs)

1st Norton & Thomas’ KALASLANE JUDGE JUDY AT CARANTANA (IKC) – 9 year old who is in super condition, not presented in show trim, but still with good coat. I really like the construction of this girl. She has a smashing top line and undercarriage. Feminine head, a little more strength would be my preference, but skull is still of good width, dark eye and correct bite. Stands straight in front onto lovely tight feet, lovely croup and tail set. Hindquarters are well angled which she maintains good muscle development. Hocks are firm. She moved sound and efficiently in all directions. A pleasure to award her BVIB.
