I want to begin by thanking the society for inviting me to judge at this wonderful show. Special mention to my steward Ann Defaye for keeping my ring moving efficiently all day. The day started a bit chilly but once the sun broke through it was a lovely day to be judging outside. The ring was a super size so I really got to see the dogs move. I was looking for an elegant hound with sound precise movement and flowing curves. The quality of the exhibits was high especially the males, I think they have really improved in the last few years.

This young male just screams look at me, I judged him as a puppy at an open show and thought at the time I would love to judge him in a year or two. He did not disappoint. He was masculine throughout with a handsome head. Good under jaw and neat rose ears. His elegant neck just flowed into the super front construction. Plenty of depth to chest giving enough heart room. Strong muscular loin and correct tuck up. He had a broad strong rear with well developed second thigh. My hands just flowed over him and he was in super condition. When he moved he just came to life. Not only was he super true coming and going he just floated in profile covering the ground effortlessly and with elegance. He had that little bit extra sparkle I was looking for and I could not deny him the CC today. Just at one with his handler. I will look forward to watching his career which I’m sure will have a lot more success.
