Driffield Championship Dog Show
Breed: Manchester Terrier
M y thanks to the exhibitors for giving me such a lovely entry today, I have a bit of a soft spot for the breed as my grandfather kept them along with Min Pins when I was growing up and I have a clear vision in my head of several dogs darting in and out of the barns trying and succeeding to catch the vermin that lived there!
SBD (1) HASSETT, Miss Melissa Rosettia My Valentine this young man at just 6 months is all legs at the moment and a little uncoordinated but was sympathetically handled throughout his classes, he has a long head with small dark eye and a good length of neck, compact enough in body with a slightly arched loin and well bent stifles, went forward confidently but needs to come together in front .

MPD (2) 1 RBD, BPIB Forshaws Digelsa Don't Look Back, what a cracking puppy this is ! I loved his compact outline and the alert intelligent expression coming from his bright dark eyes, he has a good length of neck into well sloped shoulders and he stands nicely in front on straight forelegs and small feet, excellent body shape with slight rise over the loin and well angulated quarters, his coat was gleaming with visible thumb prints and dark tan markings, for one so young he is a super mover going forward with accuracy and good front reach, watching the group later I was pleased to see him make the shortlist, a delightful youngster who surely must have a very bright future 2 Rosettia My Valentine

JD (2) 1 Bailey’s Magicus Silvestris Prins Peter Pan (imp Nor) 14mth and creating a pleasing picture on the stack although I wouldn’t like any more of him, he has a good length of head and dark expressive eyes giving out a keen expression , very good neck into sloping shoulders, well sprung ribs and nicely tucked underline, correct topline and short well set tail, moved out freely and accurately and I particularly liked his strong rear action 2 Spains Starryedge Titan Buck also making a nice outline on the stack, head is narrow and wedge shape with flat skull, dark bright eyes and a keen expression, not standing as true as the winner in front and a little weaker in pasterns however he as a very good depth of chest with ample spring of rib and shapely underline, he is nicely muscled in the rear and shows good drive on the move

OD (2) 1 and BD, BOB Bodsworth Ch Safiette Theos Doron, this dog fitted my interpretation of the standard almost perfectly , he has such a super compact yet elegant outline, only a youngster but top quality in both construction and movement, he has a good length of head, wedge shaped with high set ears and almond eye which to be hypercritical could be a fraction darker but still exudes that keen terrier expression, long slightly arched neck and well placed shoulders, good narrow front and correct topline with defined rise over the loin and a deep chest, he is well muscled in the rear with a good bend of stifle and goes forward freely and accurately reaching well in front , presented in glossy coat with correct markings and not putting a foot out of line today. Pleased to award him BD and BOB. I was not surprised to see on reading the catalogue that he is already titled, I’m sure there is more to come from him.
2 Walkers Wystry Depths Of Glory For Sizlin JW smaller in stature and not quite as elegant as the winner, pleasing head shape with dark almond eye and well set ears, long neck into well sloped shoulders and an excellent depth of chest and curvy underline, I preferred the hind angulation of the winner but this boy is a sound and true mover with good tail carriage and holding his shape
SBB (1) 1 and BSB Whitwells Cacwn Starling this 1 yr old is a really lovely mover and very well together for her age, she has a pretty head with dark almond eye and neat well set ears, neck is of good length and slightly arched and she stands true in front on straight forelegs and small hair feet, chest is deep enough and she is well angulated in the rear, confident mover on the move and going forward accurately with good front reach and plenty of drive.
VB (1) 1 and BVIB Rudds Digelsa Dark Velvet ShCEx VW a shapely b rising 8 and presented in muscular condition although carrying a few extra lbs , medium sized and compact with a long wedge head, dark eye and high set v shaped ears, she has a good depth of chest and is well tucked up, correct topline with slight rise over the loin and well angulated quarters, coat is well marked with clear thumb prints and she moved out smoothly with ample reach and drive
MPB (1)Sharps Rosettia Touch Of Class this pretty girl is just 6 months old but is pleasing enough in shape, she has a pretty head and dark almond eye and a good length of neck, she just stands a little e/w in front and I would have liked to see shorter nails, she has ample depth of chest for her age with good tuck and well angulated rear, sound enough on the move but needs to gain a little more confidence.
PB (1) 1 Rosettia Touch Of Class
JB (3,1) 1 and RBB Knights Talanors True Magic 17mth b whose make and shape appealed greatly, she has a good wedge head with tapered muzzle and dark eye emitting a keen expression although they could have been slightly more almond in shape , she has a nicely arched neck of good length into well placed shoulders and stands true in front on straight forelegs and small hare feet, I liked compact body with good depth to her chest for her age, a curvy underline and well angulated hindquarters and strong low set hocks, once settled she went forward soundly reaching well in front but can still come together a little more, presented in good coat with rich markings and defined thumb prints. In the challenge she had gotten her act together a bit more and I was pleased to award her RBB, be interesting to follow her progress as there is lots to appreciate here 2 Cacwn Starling ( See SBB)
PGB (1,1)
LB (1) 1 Entwhistles Holtaire Runa At Wistleglenn 4 yr larger framed b with a pretty head, dark almond eye and bright expression, she has an ample length of neck and stands with forelegs under her body although a tad e/w but showing a correct narrow front, ribs are well sprung and hindquarters well angulated and muscular, just occasionally looking a little flat in topline, on the move she is sound enough but could have a little more front reach.
OB (3) 1 and BB Walshaws CH Kentwone Lyra At Janmark JW
quality medium sized 5 yr b well proportioned with a beautiful compact shape and excellent angles front and rear but not always cooperating with her handler today! she has long narrow head with flat skull and dark almond eye and v shaped high set ears which when used really enhanced her expression, she was initially pulling back on the stack but when relaxed she showed a true front and deep narrow chest, her ribs are well sprung and topline is firm with a slight rise over the loin and hindquarters are muscular and strong with low set hocks. She tried hard to throw the class away but once settled she moved out accurately reaching well in front. Pleased to award her BB today but in the challenge for BOB she had to succumb to the showmanship of the male 2 Sharpes Ch Rosettia Keepsake JW I loved the head and expression on this larger framed girl and her dark almond eyes really did sparkle ! She is elegant and feminine on the stack with a clean neck of good length and balanced angulation fore and aft but forelegs could be placed a little more under her body, topline is firm to good croup and short tail set on correctly and she moved out freely and true, presented in a quality well marked coat 3 Spains Nespoli You Are My Sunshine
