Bulldog Critique
I would like to thank the Midland Counties Canine Society for the honour of judging their championship show in October 2026. My thanks also go to my exceptional stewards and to all exhibitors for the good grace with which they accepted my placings. The high standard of health and condition among the dogs exhibited was a credit to the breed. A special mention goes to the veteran dog, whom I judged as a youngster. It was a pleasure to judge him again at nearly ten years of age, in exceptional condition and moving like a dog half his age. A credit to all concerned.
Class 1143 – Minor Puppy Dog (2/2)
1st Dalpra’s Bull and Grapes Coconut Man [ATC BD30678ITA] (No. 3536)
By Domino of the Hollybullz WW – Bull and Grapes Sweet Wrinkle.
Critique: Brindle and white puppy with attractive head properties. Flat forehead, round eyes set well apart and well-placed rose ears. Muzzle of good substance, with satisfactory nostrils. Particularly good width and turn of underjaw, contributing to a head of the type I admire. Good front with substantial bone, correct body length and good hind angulation. Would prefer a better tail, but his other qualities secured his class win.
2nd Mayes’s Pectus Hey Jude (No. 3556)
By Ch New Soul Origin at Belushi – Blenhiemstar Proud Mary Pectus.
Critique: Red and white, another promising puppy with an attractive head. Flat forehead and good rose ears. Slightly longer in loin than the winner, but preferred his tail. Moved well. I preferred the winner’s eye placement and turn of underjaw.
Class 1144 – Puppy Dog (2/2)
1st Taylor’s Hillplace Boy George (No. 3575)
By Ch Shottle King Edward at Tedsbull – Hillplace Venus.
Critique: Brindle and white, a substantial puppy presented in excellent condition. Strong head with a flat forehead and well-placed, round eyes. Satisfactory nostrils and a good turn of underjaw. Good depth of brisket, sufficient bone and correct shoulder placement. Correct body length, with satisfactory tail and hind angulation. A little apprehensive on the move today, but a pleasing puppy overall.
2nd Lister’s Adornangels Magic Mike (No. 3550)
By Ch Mellowmood I'm a Lucky Man – Kingrock You've Got a Friend for Adornangels.
Critique: Red and white, a lovely puppy who challenged the winner closely on head properties. Attractive head with a flat forehead and a good front. Moved well. Preferred the winner’s depth of brisket. A little out of coat today, and coat condition was the deciding factor between them.Class
1145 – Junior Dog (5/4)
1st Bragger’s Prideofbully Red One (No. 3528)
By Ugo Angel Della Gioiosa Prideofbully (Imp Ita) – Prideofbully French Flair.
Critique: White dog with a particularly strong front and excellent bone. Flat forehead, well-placed rose ears and round, dark eyes set well apart. Good turn of underjaw, with a straight mouth. Strong body, with brisket still to develop with maturity. Would welcome a little more rise over the loin to complete the topline. Good hind angulation. The outstanding feature of his foreface was the remarkable breadth of underjaw, perfectly straight, with exceptional width between the lower canines and a good turn.
