 SOUTH WALES CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW .10th October 2026

IRISH SETTERS.

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at SWKA ,my stewards who kept everything organised and of course the folk who entered under me ,Thank you for coming with such well turned out dogs .I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was pleased with my entry and very chuffed that all 3 finalists were pulled out in the groups, BOB was group 2 , Puppy to final 7 and veteran in final 10.Congratulations to you all.

I felt the quality in post grad,limit and open bitch classes was very high ,many could change places in future ,how lovely for the breed.

Some exhibits lacked muscle tone and this does affect movement ,also some handlers could improve overall picture by moving straight and on a good stride , Weight was much improved in the entry today .

VETERAN 6 entries 

1st SH CH Lynwood Hocus Pocus at Settesoli JW.(Russell )Well balanced dog with a super head,looking very distinguished with a smattering of grey ,great length of neck running cleanly into shoulders ,tidy feet ,lovely topline into good tail set .Was considered for rcc but preferred his sons hind action today.

2nd Gwendariffs Flags are Flyin.(Walker )Super head ,lovely reach of neck into well laid shoulders ,plenty of depth ,tidy feet .Coat gleaming and rich colour ,Preferred movement on first today.

3rd Riverbrue Galliano Fizz to Clonageera JW VW .(Rutherford and Judge )

MINOR PUPPY. 2 Entries .1st Heathclare Love Devotion(Kuhnel) Really smart puppy of just 6 months ,pleasant head with kind eye and correct ear set,He had correct neck into shoulder placement ,good front angulation which I preferred to 2nd with a lovely topline and tail set when stacked ,Good bone too .He moved well for such a young pup .

2nd Cafotaliena Rocket Man.(Hardy .)Well balanced 7 month pup with nice outline when stacked ,enough bone but little long in front pasterns, tidy feet . Rear angulation good and tail set correct. Moved with free flowing action.

1stCafotaliena Play with Fire (Hardy ,Hardy and Rusinek)I noticed this young lad at another show so was pleased to see him here today, lovely young dog who well deserved his win ,He has a nice head with kind eye but a little short in muzzle for me ,good neck into shoulders ,enough bone with straight fore limbs , lovely topline and rear angulation. Coat gleaming,moved well .

1st Ixia Boys Don`t Cry at Shanoah (Foster )Pleasing head of correct planes ,raised brow,and quizzical expression Good neck into shoulder placement ,gently sloping topline ,and good angulation front and rear ,plenty of depth and strong ribs , made good outline when stacked, good bone and tidy feet. Enthusiastic sound movement .

GRADUATE.3 Entries ,

1st Gwendariff Hanky Panky JW (IKC)(Walker )Really nice dog with dark rich coat,Head had plenty of work with eyes and ears set correctly , tidy feet,deep chest and good angulation both ends, topline could be stronger as occasionally he dipped on the stack ,won this class on his driving movement .

2nd Fairhaven Young Soul for Konakakela JW (Imp Swe)(Harris )A larger built male who had a pleasant head and better topline than one but his movement let him down today. Angulation was good at both ends and coat was plentiful.

3rd Rionore Bewitching Memory(Randle)

1st Bardonhill Thats all Right at Delsanto(Sheldon ) Nice sized dog who caught my eye as looked super stacked ,racy balanced outline,pleasant head with kind expression and plenty of brain room ,ears set correctly,tidy feet ,good bone and depth ,neck set into well placed front angulation with no lumps or bumps .moved well with drive from strong rear end..

2nd Swiftlark Invincible JW (Corless)Larger lad who again was well made ,great neck into shoulder placement ,pleasant head and looked good stacked,coat well turned out ,preferred hind angulation of winner .Moved with free flowing action

3rd Covarney Mr Magoo(Condron,Condron,Needs,Needs)

1st Tiroen Touch of Magic by Settesoli(Imp KCJ) JW(Russell)This boy had to work hard to win this class but he pulled out all the stops to do just that and the RCC in the challenge. He has the most beautiful head with plenty of work and well set dark eyes .He looked balanced when stacked and had plenty of bone ,his ribs where well sprung and set well back too with plenty of depth to body . Croup correct and tail well set. Moved well with drive and animation.

2nd Kerryfair Zoom in on Pawsword (Kolbach)Looked very smart stacked with beautiful outline ,again lovely head and his neck into shoulder placement was correct as was his rear angulation ,his coat was rich and plentiful ,pushed winner very hard , He moved with drive but a little quickly today which did affect his foot placement .

3rd Bardonhill A Million Ways To Delsanto (Sheldon)

1st SH CH Coppers Get Off My Cloud by Bonhomie(Imp Swe)(Edwards)He looked lovely here today ,Coat gleaming and so well turned out ,Stacked he looked stunning ,so balanced and refined ,his head was beautiful with plenty of chiselling and correct eye placement with mischief there too. His angulation was excellent and he has plenty of bone . He moved soundly round the ring with drive and power .Well deserved CC.

GOOD CITIZEN .1 Entry.

1st Redclyst Captain Kidd (Richards) He has a racy outline when stacked ,balanced head ,kind eye and moved with purpose. He was leaning back in previous class when stacked which did detract from his outline A great achievement to qualify to get in this class .Well done.

1st,SH CH Teleri Indian Summer (AI)JW (Catling)9.5 yr old who looked lovely ,so well turned out .Beautiful head ,great topline ,neck flows into shoulders ,and good rear angulation led to powerful movement round ring .Certainly went well for her age. lovely to see .BEST VETERAN .

2nd Sixoaks Leading Lady.(Heather)Again a well made girl with balanced head,smooth neck into shoulders with well set elbows ,correct angulation both ends .Profuse coat ,moved well. I preferred the topline of 1 today.

MINOR PUPPY 3 Entries .

1st Heathclare Love Me Do .(Prangle)Promising pup who was well made front and rear and had plenty of depth too. Pretty head with lots of sculpting and pronounced occiput ,enough bone and tidy feet looked balanced when stacked .moved keenly with enthusiasm .Will watch with interest .

2nd Cafotaliena Dancing Queen with Zakhan.(Rorke)Pleasant pup with nice head ,a little shorter coupled than 1st at moment ,Well made ,again looked good stacked with flowing topline .moved well for a youngster .

3rd Cafotaliena Cherry Bomb(Hardy)

1st,Glitterati Lofty with Quensha(Imp Pol)(Bott,Allen and Morgan.)This girlie is outstanding for a puppy ,Will follow her career with interest. She has a long lean head and is very pretty ,good length of neck leads seamlessly into well laid shoulders,rear angulation is correct ,wide and powerful Balanced when stacked and moved effortlessly round ring . BPIB .Very pleased to see her short listed in a quality puppy group Well Done.

1st ,Sametsuz So To Speak.((Sketchley)Substantial bitch , attractive head with plenty of work ,neck into shoulders well made ,topline correct and moved very well from strong back end with drive and animation .Pushed very hard by 2nd.

2nd,Gwendariff Crackling Rosie for Lochlorein(IKC)(Stevenson)Again a well made bitch who looked great when stacked ,I felt she was a little longer in body than first but she had good topline and good angulation front and rear ,her head is very pretty with kind eye .She went well on the move .

1st Clonageera Summer Magic JW(Rogers)Took my eye on first walk up as she was so balanced when stacked ,everything fits when going over her ,no lumps or bumps ,deep chest and well sprung ribs and elbows well let down , strong back end with correct bend to stifle and hock joints. she has lovely dark coat in shiny condition ,pretty head with mischievous glint in her correctly shaped eyes ,Moved with drive from strong back end.

2nd Riverbrue Mystique Avec Brinara JW(Berry and Morris)Another really nice bitch ,pleasant head with well set eyes and ears ,topline and body shape excellent making a balanced outline ,just not as strong in rear as 1st, tailset well. Moved with drive ,

3rd Penclippin Celtic Asthore JW(Bentley)

POST GRADUATE 4 Entries 

1st ,Forfarien Fancy Me JW(Sturrock and Watt)This girlie had to pull out all the stops to win this class,she is beautifully made ,pretty head with great eye of correct colour and shape ,moderate muscular neck into well set shoulders. lovely tidy feet ,great angulation front and rear,looked balanced when stacked with gently sloping topline .My notes say really nice. She moved soundly too with lashing tail.

2nd Riverbrue Ophelia Love GlennaraJW(Hall)Pretty head with plenty of chiselling ,good length of neck into correct front assembly ,plenty of depth and ribs well sprung,nails a little long ,she was naughty on the move today but did enough to earn this place.

3rd Kedalita Abfab For Lynwood (Mugford)

Emma Coppers Mahogany Dream Catcher (atc BD 80934CZE)(Edwards and Ostman)She has a very pretty head with plenty of work ,I would prefer slightly darker eye but they are correct in shape and her ears are well set. She makes a beautiful outline when stacked with a gently sloping topline and correct angulation front and rear ,her coat was gleaming and turned out to perfection .moved soundly and with enthusiasm;

2nd Swiftlark Illustrious JW(Corless)A more substantial bitch who was sound on the move .Pleasant outline when stacked .Pretty head with raised brows and correct skull shape. Ears moderate size and well set. Neck fits well into shoulders which are sloping well back .Good depth to chest ,Good angulation at rear too. Moved correctly.

3rd Quensha Galway Girl.(Mcdonald)

My initial thoughts of this class were WOW and I wasn`t disappointed.

1st SH CH Alolfrana Electra (Danks and Kniveton),She is stunning ,Pretty head with plenty of brain room ,eyes kind but mischievous ,mouth correct and neck of correct length and muscular ,her shoulders have correct angulation,and she has plenty of depth to body ,her ribs are well laid back ,strong loin and tail set correct which she used to advantage on the move. She powered round the ring with driving action from strong rear end Her coat was gleaming and turned out to perfection. Well deserved CC and BOB ,Really pleased she went onto group 2.Many Congratulations.

2nd SH CH Quensha Joker and the Queen(Bott,Allen and Morgan)Again looked stunning when stacked ,She is beautiful with head of correct plains and a cheeky look ,excellent construction and her movement also a joy to watch ,Just wish she was a little bit bigger but she couldn`t be over looked .

3rd SH CH Lynwood Rather Scrumptious JW.(Mugford)
