My grateful thanks go to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at this very well run show on one of the finest showgrounds on the circuit. I was delighted with the depth of quality in this entry. This is a moderate and medium sized breed with a wire coat all over its body and of a more robust build than the Hungarian Vizsla; it owes as much to its ancestor the German Wirehaired Pointer as it does to the H.V. I found a range of coat colours from golden sand to russet which is exactly as it should be. Tail carriage was of some concern. Thank you to the exhibitors for seeking my opinion and no matter what that was you all took the best dog home.

1ST 256 - Twelveoaks Idaho Morganna (Ms R J Newman). An excellent youngster of moderate bone and substance, presenting a slightly longer than tall outline. Head is well proportioned, though could benefit from more developed facial furnishings. Coat is of correct harsh texture all over the body. Front assembly is good but he could use slightly more front angulation and a tad more length of upper arm. Displays adequate forechest and depth, with well-developed, broad thighs and a good tail set. Moved soundly, showing a clean pair of heels. A contender for top honours.

1ST 243 - Sh Ch Enryb Purple People Eater JW (Mrs J Byrne). He presents a typical outline being longer than tall and has the robust build, strong bone and harsh wire coat that sets him apart from the H.V. He has a moderately long and well muscled neck that flows cleanly into his well laid shoulders. He has a straight front, plenty of depth, well sprung ribs, level back and slightly sloping croup. His thighs are broad and well muscled with excellent second thigh development and he stands on tight feet. His head is very handsome with a strong muzzle that is slightly shorter than his skull and is finished with a lovely big nose. His expression is soft and kind. His coat is harsh and head furnishings ample. In the challenge he was a tad looser in front than the open dog and didn’t have his tail carriage. That said he is an excellent example of the breed and whilst already carrying his title I feel that the best is yet to come. Delighted to award him the RCC.

1ST 263 - Starshot Overwatch (Miss S Swainson). In this breed the height of dogs is 23 to 24 ½ inches with a variance of less than 1 inch and whilst on first glance this dog appears small he is well within the range and remains in proportion. He has bone and substance, good ribbing, a well muscled loin and decent quarters with well developed second thighs. His head is well balanced but I would prefer a softer expression. On the move he showed very good forward reach and covered plenty of ground. Wears a harsh jacket. Nice type.

A super class of quality dogs.

1ST 265 - King Fox to Tragus (Mr G Upton). He has bone and substance and an air of arrogance with a ‘look at me’ attitude. His coat is superb with enough facial furnishings to give his head a somewhat square appearance. His shoulders are muscular and well laid with elbows close to his body, straight forelegs and slightly sloping pasterns; excellent length and return of upper arm. His quarters are wide and powerful with well muscled second thighs. His body is strong and well proportioned and his movement free flowing. He was a serious contender for top honours but in the challenge he lost his shape and didn’t use himself as he did in the class. His handler is from the top drawer and I am sure that he can get the best out of him to take him to the title he deserves.  

2ND 244 - Haywire Texana Vadasz (Mrs M Campbell). A super boy with the touch of refinement that I like in a Wire. He has a lovely skull shape and an imploring expression but I would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle. He has a strong topline and excellent underline but today he insisted on straightening his quarters when stacked; they were much better when he moved which he did on a long and positive stride.

This was a class of quality males all of whom are deserving of titles.

1ST 255 - Sh Ch Ewtor Blue Moon (Mrs L J Moss). The breed standard calls for a dog of robust build and distinguished appearance and this boy is just that. I just love his classic head and expression which is so intelligent and kind under his dense eyebrows. It is very well furnished without being overdone and he carries it with such an arrogant air. His shoulders are well laid and he has an excellent return of upper arm placing his legs well under his body. He has plenty of heart and lung room, a firm level topline and a lovely flare over his hips. His harsh coat is dense with undercoat and of a colour that harmonises with the colour of his eyes; something else that adds to his wonderful expression. On the move he is lively and covers a lot of ground with plenty of reach and drive. A very worthy champion who deserved the CC today.  

2ND 241 - Coudy Z Janikova Dvora at Canalgame (Mr F A Briley). He is a tad longer cast than ideal but he appealed greatly for his very handsome head which is well furnished and has the most terrific expression. He has a moderate length of neck with a slight arch that fits very cleanly into his well laid shoulders. He has plenty of forechest, is well ribbed up and displays the most superb temperament. He doesn’t have the depth of the winner and he faced strong competition from the 3rd and 4th placed dogs but on the day I preferred his ear set and tail carriage.

1ST 251 - Enryb Eat Your Greens (J Elders). She presents a very good outline on the stack with a firm level topline and a croup that slopes slightly towards her somewhat low set tail. She is clean over the neck and shoulders and has a prominent prosternum. Pasterns are a tad upright. She has moderate quarters and wide thighs. Her head is pretty with eyebrows and beard and eye colour in harmony with coat colour. She paced a bit on the move and was a little loose fore and aft but she is a baby who will tighten up. BPIB.

1ST 242 - Zoldmali Hunter Cirok at Canalgame (Imp Hun) (Mr F A Briley). She is slightly longer cast than ideal but she still holds a firm level topline. Her head is balanced with dense eyebrows and beard but eyes could be a tad darker to harmonise properly with her coat colour. Moderate reach of neck, well laid shoulders, super front. Well sprung ribs carried well back but she could use more depth. Great underline and tail set. Moved OK but was a little close fore and aft. 

2ND 249 - Twelveoaks Red Delicious (R Court). A lovely bitch who was not really co-operating today. She is well made and balanced throughout, has a well muscled neck and good ear set framing her face. She stands on really good feet and has a good wire coat. If her handler can get her to relax she will do well.

1ST 260 - Kensesqui Japan (Mr S & Miss A Spavins & Senior). I really liked this moderately made girl who is so feminine with an air of elegance about her without the loss of bone and substance. She has a very pretty head with a moderately broad and slightly rounded skull that is slightly longer than her foreface. Moderate stop, well placed ears, eye colour harmonises with coat colour which is a lovely golden sand. She has strength of neck, well laid shoulders, good ribs, firm loin and moderate quarters. She moved beautifully carrying her head high and her tail in line with her back. She has a wire coat all over her body, dense eyebrows and beard. Very well and quietly handled to win the RCC.

1ST 259 - Fradaikee Private Dancer (Mrs T L Pryer). She moves with such carriage and style; great forward reach and drive from behind. I loved her head with its ample furnishings and whilst her eye colour could be a touch darker she has a beautiful expression. She looks very noble on the stack and holds her shape on the move. Her coat is harsh and light golden sand in colour, has some length and undercoat to it but does not detract from her typical shape. Quietly handled.  

2ND 250 - Zoldmali Hunter Vica of Zoltarous (Imp Hun) (Miss Z K Dicker). A substantial bitch built on a smaller frame but still within standard. Her head is of good shape and proportions with a moderate stop and well set ears. Arched neck, moderate angulation but does not have the fill in front of the winner nor the depth of brisket. Moved with purpose and drive to beat a very good 3rd placed bitch.

A class full of top class girls

1ST 240 - Holsan Wild Ginger (Mr S & Mrs E Bendikas). A quality exhibit who excels in type and overall balance, presenting the correct outline, slightly longer than tall, of robust build and with substance throughout. Head well proportioned and typical, with a moderate stop and moderately broad, slightly rounded skull. Muzzle of good length and strength, slightly shorter than skull, with tight lips and well-developed, though not exaggerated, facial furnishings giving it the desired almost square striking appearance. Eyes of correct shape and colour, giving a kind, intelligent expression. Ears correctly set, lying close to the cheeks and framing the head well. Good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders, with a firm, level topline maintained on the move. Underline is an important feature as the HWV does not have ‘tuck up’. Body well developed with depth to chest, ribs carried well back, and a strong loin. Well-muscled quarters with good width of thigh and a correctly set tail completing the picture. Golden sand coat of correct harsh texture and well presented. Moved soundly with drive and purpose, covering the ground effortlessly while maintaining balance and carriage; her tail carriage was spot on. She is just my style and a worthy winner of the CC and Best of Breed. She delighted me further by being awarded Gundog Group 2.  

2ND 252 - Sh Ch Enryb Skye Blue (J Elders). She has a beautiful well furnished head with a great beard and eyebrows. Well made throughout with slightly sloping patterns, strong bone, a level topline, great underline and wide thighs. Is tighter in front than the 3rd placed bitch. Whilst she moved well, she was not as animated as the winner.

1ST 267 - Sh Ch Tragus Honey Bee (Mr P & Mrs L Upton). 10 years old and in great nick. Despite the inevitable softness of maturity she still presents a lovely outline being longer than tall, has a very pretty head with fine well set ears and a strong muzzle slightly shorter than skull. Eye and nose colour are in harmony with coat colour. Shoulders are well placed but she was a tad wide in front. Her breed type is exemplary but with the passing of time she had to give way to younger girls today. She is lovely and very worthy of her title. BVIB.

1ST 247 - Hazean Donetsk to Deifstock (IKC) JW (Mr W & Mrs S Cooper). Dark russet girl whose colour blends beautifully with her eye and nose colour. She presents a great shape on the stack, has depth of brisket, moderate length of neck and well laid shoulders. Her quarters are terrific and she has a lovely finish to her croup and a slightly low set tail. She was slightly wide going away but her profile movement showed great forward reach.
