Scottish Kennel Club

Breed: Miniature Pinscher

Thank you very much to the committee of SKC for inviting me to award my first set of CCs in Miniature Pinschers. I had a lovely entry for “up north” with some quality exhibits to judge. Thanks to my able steward Mandy Morton for keeping things running smoothly in our ring. Many thanks to the exhibitors for your support, sportsmanship and bringing your lovely Pins for me to judge.

Puppy Dog (4)

What a lovely class of youngsters to start the day!

1st Scourfield’s Pernikety Make Your Mark at Danton - 11 month old red. Beautiful shape and outline, good for size and well bodied for age. Handsome, elongated head of good proportions, flat skull, strong muzzle of good length. Well pigmented nose and eye rims. Oval eyes of good size and set, dark and full of mischief. Neat, erect ears well placed on his skull. Nice amount of neck flowing seamlessly into well laid shoulders, forelegs straight and of quality bone, neatest of feet. Square, compact body, fit and well muscled throughout with well sprung ribs. Short, taut loin with slight tuck up. Sound, well muscled hindquarters with well bent stifles and low set parallel hocks. Moved soundly with some hackney action. Delighted to award him RCC & BPIB.

2nd McLoughlin’s Krieger’s Oor Bryan - Another good red of 7 months and just giving a little away on maturity today. He too is of nice size and presents a square, well balanced outline. He has a masculine yet pleasing expression with good head proportions, his skull is flat and elongated with good length to muzzle. Expressive eyes fitting his face well, oval and dark with black eye rims. Erect ears, small and well set. He has a good reach of neck and this fits well into a sound front assembly. Chest still to develop as expected at this age. Forelegs straight and of correct bone. Compact body, ribs carried well back and of good spring. Well angulated hindquarters. Moved well.

Limit Dog (3)

A tricky class with three dogs of varying type.

1st McLoughlin’s Krieger’s Kilted Dragon - Black & Tan of 3 years old. Smaller than his classmates and finer throughout but still with lots of positive attributes. Preferred his head and expression, proportionate and well balanced with good length to his muzzle and strong jaws. Lovely dark, oval eyes well set in his face. Neat ears, erect and well placed. Enough neck, moderate lay of shoulder, forelegs straight with neat, cat-like feet. Sturdy, compact body, square with well sprung ribs carried well back. Hindquarters muscular and angles matching that of his fore. Moved well in profile but slightly wide behind.

2nd Allan’s Allanabru Simply Red at Wishsong - 4 year old red. As mentioned, different type to 1st, built upon larger lines. Sturdy body in good fit condition. Masculine head and expression, head of good proportions, flat, elongated skull, strong muzzle of good length, well pigmented nose and eye rims. Eyes of correct size, shape and set. Erect ears of correct set and size, used well. Enough neck into a decent front, chest well developed, forelegs straight and of good bone. Sturdy body with well sprung ribs, just slightly off-square, taut loin. Hindquarters well made with good bend to stifles. Moved typically.

Open Dog (4)

His construction is so correct that he cannot stand or move wrong. Handsome, masculine head, proportionate, elongated flat skull, strong muzzle of good length, black nose and eye rims. Expressive, dark oval eyes fitting his face well with alert, keen expression. Erect ears, small and neat well set. Two lovely veterans who are a credit to their owners and the breed

Very showy and giving his absolute all to his handler. Clean head, flat skull with strong muzzle, nose and eye rims well pigmented. 2nd Reddington & Harrison Kaypin Voulez Vous - Another lovely red male who is of different type to 1st. He is slightly taller on leg and unfortunately today was a bit out of coat however, this doesn’t detract from his qualities. He has a handsome, masculine head and expression, proportionate head, skull is elongated with good length to muzzle, strong jaws. Dark, expressive eyes, oval and of good size and set. Erect ears well set on his skull. Nice neck into well laid shoulders, good depth of chest and straight forelegs, neat cat-like feet. Puppy Bitch (4)

Interesting class of puppy bitches, all at different stages of development.

1st Reddington & Harrison Kaypin Shooting Star - Petite little red of 6 months old, rather raw at the moment but what else would you expect? For me she had the most balanced outline in this class today, square and compact with an air of sassiness. Feminine head of good proportions, in balance with the rest of her, flat skull, muzzle of good length. Well pigmented nose, lips and eyerims. Expressive, dark eyes full of mischief and of correct shape, size and set. Neat, erect ears which she used well. She has a good reach of neck and a sound front. Chest and body still to develop, but well ribbed back to a short loin with slight tuck up. Hindquarters sound and angles matching that of her fore. Moved well.

2nd Hind’s Diamoneo Wings of a Dove - Another 6 month old red who unfortunately was a little overawed by her surroundings today in a noisy hall. She too is of a nice type and of good size and shape. Pretty head, proportionate, flat, elongated skull, muzzle strong and of good length. Dark eyes, oval in shape well set. Firm, erect ears well set. Enough neck, moderate lay of shoulder, chest still to develop, forelegs straight with neat feet. Compact body with well sprung ribs, good topline, short loin. Hindquarters well made with moderate bend to stifles and low set parallel hocks. Moved ok when settled.

Limit Bitch (2)

1st Anderson’s Kilmuir Krasa to Elanaux - Lovely 4 year old red who is of good size and substance. She presents a square, balanced outline. Feminine head yet with strength, good length to muzzle, jaws strong. Dark, oval eye, well sized and set. Ears could be ever so slightly smaller but well set and used well. Good reach to her neck, well crested and flowing into well laid shoulders, good depth of chest, forelegs well boned and carried well under her. Muscular body, good spring of rib carried back to a short, taut loin. Correct topline. Hindquarters strong and sound, good width to first and second thighs, well bent stifles. Moved soundly and typically with some hackney action.

2nd Wilson’s Kilmuir Quaint She Aint at Nianka - Red, honest bitch who unfortunately was just carrying a little bit of weigh today. That being said, she is of good size and is balanced. Compact. Clean head, elongated, flat skull, good strength to muzzle, well pigmented nose and eye rims. Oval, dark expressive eyes well placed in her pretty face. Enough neck into a well made front, good depth of chest, forelegs straight, neat catlike feet. Ribs well sprung and carried well back. Hindquarters matching that of her fore angles. Moved ok.
