My thanks to the Officers and Committee for their kind invitation to judge their Championship Show and the wonderful hospitality I received. I thoroughly enjoyed my day at this show. The relaxed atmosphere was evident and it was clear that everyone was having a pleasant time.

Many thanks to my two great stewards, we had a great day together.

Minor Puppy Dog (2) 1 Longbottom & Milby’s Gunalt Beewicked: Well up to size puppy of good colour. Strong in head and well off for bone. Presented in hard condition and well-schooled for one so young. Moved as one expects for his age. Very Mature looking for his age. 2 Clarke & Duffy’s Gunalt Beelissimo at Peluche: Different type of puppy to one and of different proportions but still a very nice boy. Liked his head. He is of pleasing colour and correct size, good feet and firm topline. Unfortunately, not very settled in this class or places may have changed. I see that they are litter brothers. He certainly was enjoying his day a very happy boy.

Puppy Dog (2) 1 Longbottom & Milby’s Gunalt Beewicked. 2 Duffy’s Minstergate Horizon: A lot to like about this boy but very hard to assess as he gave his handler a very difficult time. I liked his head and ear carriage he is of good colour. Good length of back and standing on great feet. Well off for bone. He is of correct size and is a very nice boy who needs a firm hand. He is in great condition. Movement is fine but will be better, I am sure; he could have a bright future once the handling is sorted.

Junior Dog (6) 1 Dobbs’ Theondale Hopeful Heart JW: Liked this boy a lot. Well up to size of good body proportions. Pleasing head and eye. Good front, depth of chest and reach of neck. Well placed shoulders. Great length of back and turn of stifle which allowed him to push off so well into fluid movement. Covering the ground effortlessly He definitely knew his job today. Should have a bright future. 2 Longbottom’s Gunalt Wingman JW: Shown in lovely condition and looked good standing. Well presented by his experienced handler. In profile loved his movement driving of well let down hocks however just a little wide in front. Unfortunate to meet 1 in such good form. 3 Mercuri’s Weipowa License To Spy.

Yearling Dog (4) 1 Aziz & De Beer’s Gunalt Cocktails And Dreams JW: Pale dog who is of medium size, Liked his head and expression, he has a good front with plenty of forechest. He is well balanced in body with correct topline and strong quarters displayed whilst moving soundly. Held his topline perfectly whilst moving. 2 Charlish’s Gunalt The Morning After: Smaller dog and shorter in back than 1. He has a nice head and kind eye. Good front and enough depth of chest with level topline. Shown in good condition and well-handled just not playing today. 3 Kerslake’s Sabsky Karlstejn.

Novice Dog (1) 1 Lewis’ Caleydene Otterburn: 15-month young man in good condition a little unsure of himself today. Nice looking boy but requires more training that would allow him to make more of himself in the show ring.

Graduate Dog (2) 1 Kerslake’s Sabsky Karlstejn: Placed 3rd in yearling class just over 2 years of age. Larger framed boy who was shown in good hard condition. I liked his head and neck leading into strong body proportions. In excellent coat moved OK. 2 Porter-Manning & Porter’s Wallaroo Betelgeuse: Lighter made dog to 1 medium sized dog of good colour and balance. Liked his head and expression liked his length of back but felt he could hold his topline firmer on the move. He is well angulated and has good turn of stifle and moved very positively.

Limit Dog (4) 1 Jennings’ Wallaroo Romeo JW: My notes tell me that I liked this dog. Good size and body proportions. Liked his head and expression. Straight front and length of back. Plenty of fore chest and well off for bone. Carried his topline well on the move. In fit condition and well presented. RCC in the best of company. 2 Osborne-Fardon’s Silberliss Bombardier: Pale dog who is well up to size. Strong head and neck. In very hard condition however a little out of coat. He is very well behaved and moved very well in harmony with his handler. 3 Porter-Manning & Porter’s Wallaroo Kynki Bootz JW

Open Dog (5) 1 Longbottom’s Sh Ch Gunalt Beehave JW: Well put together dog of medium size and good colour. I liked his head which is correctly balanced with a kind expression. Strong well boned legs and excellent feet. Body has good depth and he is ribbed well back, pleasing tail set and carriage. A very worthy champion. His movement was first class in all directions another charge that this experienced handler gets the best from. 2 Simpson’s Ch Sireva Emeyefive JW SGWC: Typical example from this renown kennel. Mature male of pale colour in very hard condition. Good length to his head with a moderate stop. Kind eye and colour. Pleasing expression. Firm topline held well while moving. Good rear angulation. He stands on good compact feet. Moved as one with his expert handler. 3 Isherwood’s Sh Ch Gunalt Schweppes at Caleydene JW.

Special Working Dog (1) 1 Creighton’s BEL/INT/IR Ch Gunalt Insider CW23 INT/CW JCH: A dog that I have watched develop from puppy but never thought I would get the opportunity to judge him thank you for the pleasure. He is of medium size and lovely colour and good bone very much male without coarseness. Loved his head and kind expression. Good front plenty of fore chest and depth of chest. Good length of neck into decent shoulders. Firm topline both standing and moving. I would prefer a little more length to his back but you can’t have everything! He is very much at one with his young handler who carries out his duties so calmly and precisely. This dog’s movement is to be admired nothing exaggerated he covers the ground with style and his footfall is amazing. Very much at one with his compassionate handler who gets the very best from him. DCC & RBIS. Delighted to hear he was my colleague’s choice in show number one so you will have to chase that magical 3rd!

Minor Puppy Bitch (3) 1 Creighton ‘s Gunalt Beetlejuice: What a little cracker! Thought her quite lovely throughout. Very Feminine girl of correct colour and exhibited in lovely condition. Nice head and kind eye, correct ear length and carriage. Good body proportions standing on well arched feet. Straight front and level topline which she carried well on the move. In great condition. Hard to believe this was her first outing today. Once again very sympathetically exhibited by her young handler. Her movement was exceptional for one so young she was like a seasoned pro. Certainly must have a bright future BPB BPIS. Delighted to hear she achieved the same accolade by my co judge. 2 Alcorn & Ingram’s Gunalt Stiff Peaks: Smaller girl than one built on finer lines. Liked her head expression and ear carriage. Good front and length of back with nice tuck up. A little loose in front but that will come. In nice condition and shown expertly. Just needs to settle on the move which I’m sure will come in time.

Junior Bitch (5) 1 Dyer & Oddie’s Rivertone Wicked for Sharnphilly JW: My star of the day! I have watched this girl with great interest and read many critiques about her. She grabbed my attention from the moment she entered the ring. 14 months old of beautiful colour looks very mature for one so young. Loved her head correct length of ear carried well. Straight front and standing on good feet. Correct topline held well standing and moving. Good turn of stifle. Very feminine. Her movement was steady and precise covering the ground effortlessly. Another handler who gets the very best from her charge. No hesitation in awarding her BCC and BIS. Congratulations I believe that gave her title well done. 2 Charlish’s Harelferg Happy Hour: Smaller size girl of darker colour. Not just as together as 1. A good head and expression. Level topline on the stand and shown in hard condition. Movement a little loose out and back. 3 Pilatova’s Sabsky Spilberk.

Yearling Bitch (4) 1 Simpson’s Sireva Maze: Typical young lady from this kennel. Beautiful colour very well made. Loved her head and expression. Straight front good forechest. Great length of back. Level topline and gentle tuck up. Very feminine girl. Held her topline well on the move. Shown in hard condition. Moved exceptional well in all directions. 2 Phillips’ Rivertone Defying Gravity: Substantial bitch who is well made. Decent head and ear carriage. Liked her front assembly. She displays a clean neck into a good shoulder placement. Body proportions are good and in fit condition well-muscled. I felt that she didn’t cope with the ground very well and her movement would be better on a different surface.

Graduate Bitch (3) 1 Hostler’s Theondale High Hopes: A darker coloured bitch of good size yet still feminine. Liked her overall body proportions particularly her length of back. Liked her head and expression. Very well handled. Moved very confidently. 2 Lord & Broomfield’s Chilternway Coriandrum: Young lady who is still developing and getting to know her task. A little narrow although but lots to like about her. She holds her topline well both standing and moving. In hard condition and was relaxed and moved well. 3 Moll Akwamar Back Street Girl.

Post Graduate Bitch (6) 1 Spavins & Chevalier’s Weipowa Wild Flush for Ashstern: Beautiful pale girl of great proportions. Feminine head and expression. Correct ear carriage. Correct front and topline. Good bone. Shown in gleaming condition and she excelled on the move. I liked her a lot. 2 Hostler ‘s Theondale Margot JW: Larger framed girl. Good front assembly. Liked her head and expression. Good length to back and tuck up. Well angulated. Well-muscled back end and turn of stifle. She displayed sound movement out and back. 3 Hays’ Longlox Celestial Star at Falconwoodz JW.

Limit Bitch (3) 1 Alcorn & Ingram’s Gunalt Mixer: Bitch of medium size and slightly darker in colour but still grey. Good proportions to her head correct ear carriage. Good front angulation with plenty of forechest and depth of chest. Liked her topline and strong loin she is well-muscled and in hard condition. Good width to her second thigh and she powered around the ring with drive. Extremely well handled. Delighted to award her RCC. 2 West’s Gunalt Frequency By Hantu JW: A larger girl in very good condition. Would have liked a little more depth of chest and fore chest. However she has a decent head and reach of neck. Presented in good condition. Moved soundly with drive. 3 Kelly’s Vansant Vixen.

Open Bitch (7) 1 Longbottom & Milby’s Sh Ch Gunalt Curtain Call JW: A substantial girl very mature in head and body. Overall presentation very pleasing. Excellent front assembly standing on good feet. Correct bone and holding her topline both standing and moving. She is well angulated and good turn of stifle. In first class condition moved well and deserved her place in this class. 2 West’s Sh Ch Gunalt Wavelength JW ShCEx OSW: A girl whom I have done well before by awarding her the CC at National Gundog a few years ago. A lovely girl with a beautiful head and of good colour. In super condition and like a fine wine maturing with age. quality bitch of pleasing size and colour. Her head is so appealing, of good length and with moderate stop. Clean through the neck, excellent body proportions and looking in tip top condition. Moved exceptionally well and a very worthy champion. 3 Simpson’s Sireva Emseesee.

Veteran Bitch (4) A lovely class to judge. Credit to each owner. 1 Upton-Lovett & Upton’s Sh Ch Gunalt Lustrous with Roydack ShCEx: Beautiful eight-year girl who belies her age. In great condition. She is of good colour and is balanced throughout. Kind head and eye and holds her topline well both standing and moving. Very well handled. BVIS. 2 Hostler’s Sh Ch Kalimor Daisy JW: Another nice girl who looks exceptionally well and who demands your attention. She has great body proportions and who is in a hard fit condition. Moves very well in all directions. 3 Pilatova’s Sabsky Sasanka.

Special Long-Haired Bitch (3) 1 Hays’ Longlox Celestial Star at Falconwoodz JW: A girl of very good colour and correct coat. Well off for bone without being coarse. I liked her head and expression. Body proportions are good and topline level. She is in great condition and moves well her tail carriage could be better. A nice girl all through. 2 Read’s NLD Ch Phoebe Du Tango Des Neiges Eternelles Avec Whitecross (Imp Fra): Six-year-old girl who is built on sturdy lines but carrying a little too much weight. She was not in the best of coats today however she has a nice head and expression. Her topline was firm and well held on the move. She carried out her duties well and did what was asked of her. Her movement was steady but a little wide in front.

Special Beginners Bitch (4) 1 Lord & Broomfield’s Chilternway Coriandrum. 2 Golbourn’s Kallasilya Swan River Daisy: four old bitch of medium size. Pleasing head and eye. Good straight front and level topline pretty moderate throughout. Her coat was a little patchy in places however she moved very well, to me she appeared quiet and unassuming. 3 Moll’s Akwamar Back Street Girl.
