I was delighted to be asked to judge this breed at Malvern. I have always found them a pleasure to watch on the move.

OD (2, 1a) 1 BD McLure’s Pines Mansion at Kanukalos, I have judged this upstanding black & gold boy before & think him a quality exhibit. 2 years, stands over his ground, good bone through the forearms, correct height to length ratio, good muscle-tone & coat, correct rear angulation & stands on strong rear pasterns. A little unsettled on the hands on examination but pulled it together on the move, powering around the ring with an easy gait.

OB (4, 1a): 1 & 2 litter siblings. 1 BB & BOB McLure’s Hightimbers Ticket To Dream at Kanukalos, another lovely one I have judged before. Mature black & gold bitch of 5 years, presents a pleasing outline with correct height to length ratio, good bone through the forearms, very balanced all through & soundly made, good spring of rib, drives off the rear, covering the ground. Good muscletone & coat; 2 Christopherson’s Hightimbers Ticket To Evita, blonde bitch, feminine head, correct length of body with strong topline, good rear angulation, rear pasterns vertical to the ground. Preferred the front assembly & movement of 1; 3 Sharpe’s Pines Cluedo.

VD/B (2): Close decision between 1 & 2. 1 RBB & BV Hemsworth’s Hightimbers Travel Tickets Nov Ex, black bitch of 8 years, balanced in outline, correct length of body, clean over the topline, good rear angulation, in good body & coat condition, moved with drive from the rear; 2 McLure’s Kanukalos Burletta VW, black & gold bitch, a little heavier than 1 in bone but still feminine, lovely type, just a little lethargic which at 11 years old on a very hot day is justifiable but the gait was still evident – proper drive, easy. Lovely head, good rear angulation. Quality exhibit.
