My thanks to the exhibitors for their entries on a weekday. Good sportsmanship, manifested in applause for all class winners/placings, was very evident and is praiseworthy. It is my view that a typical Labrador is an unexaggerated dog who has to be fit for function, is a balanced dog with correct length of leg and has the breed hallmarks of correct head shape, double coat and otter-like tail which distinguishes the breed from all other retrievers. I was happy with my main winners.

1st: 1127 KENNETT, Mrs Susie & KENNETT, Mr Don Magnavalleys Mojito, chocolate of pleasing overall type, pleasing head and eye colour, well boned, correct coat and deep ribbed body, good hindquarters with width to his thighs, sound and true on the move, shows promise and now needs to develop some muscletone;

2nd: 1095 EDWARDS, Mrs Alison Bearstone Captain Jack, black of pleasing type, clean outline, good body, rib and topline, not the width of thigh of 1 and a little more upright in front;

1st: 1090 DRUGGAN, Miss K A Sense Of Pleasure's Hey Jude For Balladoole (imp), this 15 months yellow has style, quality, correct balance and natural showmanship, he never stands wrong, good head with correct eye shape and colour and length of muzzle, clean neck into good shoulders, strong bone without being in any way overdone, deep barrel rib, short coupled, super topline and tailset, well-muscled hindquarters, in great condition and has a correct double coat of the right texture, sound true mover in all directions, when he came back into the challenge he took my eye straight away, worthy winner of his first CC, I wish him well in his future career;

1st: 1155 SHIRTON, Mrs Y Woolman Free And Easy, upstanding balanced yellow with a clean outline and a look of quality, good length of muzzle, clean neck, adequate bone, deep ribbed short coupled body, strong topline, not in the best of coats and would prefer stronger hindquarters with more width of thigh;

2nd: 1089 DRUGGAN, Miss K Dylsonleigh Oberon Over Balladoole, quality, showy yellow shown in super condition, adequate bone, good body and rib, excellent strong topline and well angulated hindquarters, sound true mover out and back and keeps his outline in profile where he covers the ground well, just preferred the head of 1;

1st: 1159 WAGSTAFF, Mrs Anita & VENABLES, Mr Anthony Foxrush Hot Gossip At Dewcovny, three years yellow with pleasing overall outline, pleasing neck and shoulders, deep rib, good topline and tailset, sound mover, would just prefer a better coat texture;

2nd: 1073 BOULDEN, Ms C Rumhill Jackpot, black of 10 months who is well balanced with excellent topline, tailset and very good strong hindquarters, needs time for his head to develop and is a little upright in front;

1st: 1148 PEGGS, Mrs Elizabeth Streamanda Winterfell With Jancet, chocolate who is upstanding with good length of leg, short coupled and with good topline, pleasing coat, I would just prefer more length of muzzle, cleaner neck and shoulders and more typical tail and tail carriage;

1st: 1101 EDWARDS, Mrs Alison Frewlings Gary Player At Bearstone, black of pleasing type although could have more leg for better balance, pleasing head and lovely eye colour, well boned and good coat and tail, moved soundly;

2nd: 1128 KERR, Ms Leigh Trulace Ambassador, chocolate of four years, shown in super fit condition, excellent double coat and pleasing tail, correct bone, excellent topline and moved soundly, just a little plain in head and upright in shoulder;

1st: 1142 METCALFE, Mrs Joanna & METCALFE, Mr A Rumhill Bertie Wooster By Baileydale JW, chocolate who is masculine and strong but not overdone, good bone, excellent hindquarters which he uses to drive from the hock, a good showman who was shown in good condition and has a good coat, would prefer him shorter in the loin;

2nd: 1113 FINNEY, Miss L Carpenny Kipling, black who is now a veteran but shown in lovely condition, nothing to excess with pleasing head, short coupled, deep ribbed body, correct double coat of the right texture, moved soundly, has balanced angulation, BV;

3rd: 1139 MCLELLAN, Mr & Mrs D & S Saranden Shadeuxplay

Class 513 OD (7 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: 1168 WOODLEY, Mrs Maxine Sh Ch Alkhamhurst Prime Shot, medium sized black who is made in one piece, totally unexaggerated quality dog who is masculine without a hint of coarseness, correct eye and length of muzzle, clean neck, very good legs and feet, excellent topline, tailset, coat and tail, he was shown in mint condition and was true out and back, carries himself well in profile where he keeps his outline and has correct tail carriage, nothing to excess and well balanced all through, pushed hard, RCC;

2nd: 1103 EVANS, Mrs Iris & EVANS, Mr Howard Trendlewood Long Time Comin At Pudleigh JW, this is a quality dog who I believe has just been made up and is a most worthy title holder, I liked his size, balance and overall outline which is very typical of the breed, very pleasing head with good eye colour and length of muzzle, excellent body, rib and loin, good topline, sound true mover, not in the best of coat (which made him look light on his hindquartersr today) but he still made his presence felt;

1st: 1114 GIVAN, Miss Leah Sudeo Roxy, extrovert yellow who, although a little short on the leg for balance, is short coupled with barrel ribs, excellent topline and super hindquarters, sound true mover;

2nd: 1105 FARRAR, Miss C J Donamick Crests Of Waves For Henissy, chocolate who has a good double coat of correct texture, barrel ribs and pleasing head and eye colour, falls away at the croup and tailset;

3rd: 1080 BYSOUTH, Miss Melanie F Luckswarren Secret Phoenix

1st: 1081 CASEY, Mr E & JAYES, Mrs E Lapema Crystal Lake At Sandylands, what an extrovert this yellow baby is, she is balanced and scored here with her pleasing head, clean neck into good shoulders, short coupled, deep ribbed body and well-muscled hindquarters, moved soundly;

2nd: 1157 STEWART, Mrs A J & STEWART, Miss K L Streamanda Sugar Loaf, black who is not quite so balanced but has good bone, short coupled body and strong hindquarters, moved soundly;

3rd: 1150 PHILLIPS, Mrs R M Rochevale Hafren At Sheenaron

1st: 1144 MILLS, Mr & Mrs Christopher & Claire Lembas Holly, quality yellow shown in super condition who had a lovely outline standing, appealing head, dark brown eyes, good bone and feet, excels in body with deep barrel rib and short loin, excellent strong topline and good tailset, strong hindquarters with good width of thigh, quite a character and although played up on the move, is sound, pleasure to award her BP;

2nd: 1097 EDWARDS, Mrs Alison Simply The Best Meri-stuart At Bearstone Imp Ukr, 11 months yellow who is showy and has a pleasing overall outline, well boned, good rib, topline and tailset, pleasing coat texture and moved soundly, just preferred feet and eye colour of 1;

3rd: 1165 WILES, Mrs S & LEWIS, Mrs Sally Gamesmere Ribbon In The Wind

Class 517 JB (6 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 1116 GIVAN, Miss Leah Sudeo Sassy Sapphire JW, lovely quality black of correct size and balance, takes the eye immediately with her good clean outline, well made front with good bone and feet, short coupled deep ribbed body with good topline and tailset, very good double coat and tail shape, is a good showgirl who moves well in all directions, maintaining her excellent outline and all times;

2nd: 1093 DRUMMOND, Mrs Shona E J Sudeo In For A Penny, this black turns out to be litter sister to 1, very similar although slightly more scopy, shown in super condition, good coat and tail, good feet and a sound true mover, excellent topline and overall outline, just preferred eye colour of 1;

3rd: 1104 EVANS, Mrs Sian Helen Llanstinan Scarlett Sammie At Bowsian

Class 518 YB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1082 CHARLTON, Mrs J Foxrush Hope So JW, this is a lovely quality yellow, feminine but with substance, kind head, dark eye, strong neck set into good shoulders, good bone and tight feet, barrel rib with short loin, correct topline and hindquarters which have width of thigh and well let down hocks, good coat texture and double with pleasing tail shape, she is a sound true mover in all directions and an eager showgirl who looks so good in outline, definitely would be a worthy title holder and is reminiscent of the type maintained by this small kennel over six decades, RCC;

2nd: 1156 SHIRTON, Mrs Y Woolman Born Free, this yellow has good size and substance, pleasing length of muzzle, strong neck, deep ribbed body with good topline and tailset, strong hindquarters with width of thigh, would just prefer better feet, moved soundly;

3rd: 1160 WALTON, Mrs S M B Gallybob Whoops A Daisy

2nd: 1166 WILMSHURST, Mr David Mandamay Scarlet Ribbons, this is a very nice black indeed and I was most surprised to find her in this class, she is well balanced all through with typical head and eye, good neck and shoulders, good bone and feet, short coupled deep ribbed body, well angulated hindquarters, has a typical coat and tail, sound true mover;

2nd: 1161 WALTON, Mrs S M B Gallybob Willo The Wisp, this yellow was shown in super condition, pleasing length of muzzle, good bone, excellent topline and hindquarters with good width of thigh, just preferred head shape of 1, sound mover;

3rd: 1135 LONGHURST, Mrs Amanda & LONGHURST, Mr Malcolm Hurstmeon Just My Cup Of Tea

1st: 1141 MCLELLAN, Mr & Mrs D & S Saranden Book Of Dreams Jw, I really liked this yellow, she has a look of quality and is a very sound mover and enthusiastic showgirl, very pleasing head with length of muzzle and good eye colour, strong clean neck set into good shoulder, good barrel rib and short loin, very good hindquarters and very strong behind, made her presence felt in the challenge, she had a good double coat of the correct texture, would prefer just a little less condition, could have a future;

2nd: 1151 REARDON, Miss Laura & REARDON, Mrs Ruth Saranden Leap Of Faith To Othamcourt, yellow litter sister to 1, a little bigger all through but still a very nice, well balanced Labrador, very good body with barrel rirb and short loin, strong topline and well muscled hindquarters, just preferred head of 1;

3rd: 1077 BRADDON, Mrs F. E. M. & BRADDON, Mr D. L. Trendlewood It Takes Two

Class 522 LB (11 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 1087 DRUGGAN, Miss K Balladoole Black Lace, this beautiful, top quality black is very much my idea of what a Labrador should be, beautiful head and eye, clean neck set into good shoulders, good length of leg, deep chest, barrel rib, a proper double coat that covers the whole body and is tight fitting, correct topline and tailset, well angulated hindquarters with good width of thigh, shows in a quiet, unobtrusive way and was in immaculate condition, she moved with ease and was so sound and true out and back, one I would be pleased to call my own, BCC and BOB and shortlisted in the group where she had many admirers;

2nd: 1076 BRACKNER, Mr Barry Brupurhat Star In Sight, strongly made yellow not long out of Junior who is a great showgirl and was shown in immaculate condition, very well-muscled and in full coat, clean neck, excellent bone, body and barrel rib, good topline and strong hindquarters, is totally sound on the move and goes with a ground covering gait in profile, unlucky to meet 1;

3rd: 1149 PHILLIPS, Mrs R M Rochevale Gypsy At Sheenaron Jw

Class 523 OB (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 1084 COODE, Mr D Ch Warringah's Pippingarra Jw Sgwc, this yellow is very good to go over, correct head with length of muzzle and correct eye shape and colour, strong clean neck set into well laid shoulders, good bone, barrel rib and short loin, strong topline and well angulated hindquarters, very sound true mover, going with drive behind, shown in hard condition and has a double coat of the correct texture, made her presence felt in the challenge;

2nd: 1169 WOODLEY, Mrs Maxine Sh Ch Alkhamhurst London Girl, three years black whom I awarded BPIS the last time I judged the breed, shown in the most superb coat and condition and such a great showgirl, lovely head with correct burnt sugar eye colour, very short coupled and well muscled all through, overall she is made in one piece, just slightly preferred the overall scope of 1 on the day but a most worthy title holder without doubt;
