Russian Toy. It is always an honour to be invited to judge dogs but it is a delight and pleasure when the breed is one which is incredibly charismatic. Russian Toys are difficult to ignore. I was amazed with the size of the entry; Russian Toy folk are really keen on promoting their beloved breed, and it is a shame that more breeds don’t do the same. Temperament is very good and I only had one incident when 1 exhibit was not too keen to be gone over. Overall size is good, perhaps the biggest issue I found was with fronts, elbows not close enough to the body and thus front action was, on occasion, rather wide. VD (2). What happy veterans! It is good to see these ‘not so young’ dogs enjoy their day out. 1. Orchard & Holyland’s - Multi Ch Fiesta Show Russian Pride (Imp Bir). Well-constructed 8-year-old of good proportions; squarely built with enough muscle. His head is of a good size in relation to his body; ears are correctly set; neck is of good length. Despite his age, his back is strong and he has a good tuck-up; feet are correctly shaped, and his movement is lovely in all directions. BV. 2. Casey’s Russiandream Cody Fleming for Shamal ShCEx - There is a lot to like about this 7.5-year-old as he has many breed positive points. His outline is not as clean as my class winner and his top line tends to drop when stacked. I Suspect this might be because he is carrying a little too much weight. Height to length ratio is good, giving him a square shape overall. His head is small and his muzzle is of good length; I would like his stop a tiny bit less pronounced; overall, a nice masculine dog. PD (4). Quite a difficult class to judge; most puppies were enjoying themselves. It is always good to see pups having fun although perhaps not so easy to judge them. 1.Holyland’s Ollarena Mini Cooper - Probably the most developed puppy of the two; he has a lovely outline; fine bone throughout. His skull is quite good but needs to become a little more developed & rounded. His forequarters are straight and front angulation is quite good. His back is short; chest needs to develop and broaden. For his age he has sufficient muscle. 2.Holyland’s Ollarena Love to Boogie - Less developed than my class winner but he is quite handsome already; his outline is quite square; head is small and well carried; chest needs to develop; back length is correct. As with my class winner, I would like to see him once he has matured. 3. Berrington’s Pappersley Basil Fawlty. JD (1). 1. Poxon’s Lazurniy Bereg – Not too many of this colour around so it is good to see one. He is 13 months old and squarely built when viewed side on. There is a tiny dip behind the withers. I feel sure that as his back strengthens with maturity this will straighten; he has sufficient arch of neck and fine bone throughout. His movement is good for one so young and he has beautiful breed typical feet. BSB. PGD (4). Another difficult class to judge as type was quite varied and soundness a bit of an issue. Fronts could do with being a tad stronger. 1.Codling’s Shishalee’s Sex Bomb - Has the best outline of the class. From a breed standard point of view, he is well made; his proportions are good; he is finely built; his head is quite masculine with enough stop; he has large ears, well carried. His bone is fine, but he doesn’t look fragile. Fore & Aft angulation is good. A typy boy. RBD. 2. Holyland’s Ollarena Classic Red - Another male of good size; he is finely built with no specific exaggeration; small head; well carried; shoulders well placed; topline is good and carried on the move. His movement is a little more positive than my class winner. 3. Casey’s Russiandream Ezra Elliot for Shamal. OD (3,1). 1. Orchard & Holyland’s Cze Ch Vivaprima Turmalin Royal(Imp Lva) - Very difficult not to like this male’s head; it is lovely and is as required by the standard. He is of a good size; fine but strong bone throughout; masculine through and through. His topline is short and strong; rear angulation is spot on and his movement in all directions is textbook. He is quite difficult to fault. Super boy! BD. BOB. 2. Hobbs’ Grande Misterio Carte Blanche Aoc for Beaconsfylde - This dog could do with being a little squarer in outline and I feel his head is not as breed typical as my class winner. His forequarters are straight with plenty of bone; his belly is sufficiently tucked up to give him a good curvature. Hindquarters are straight viewed from the rear and adequately angulated side on. SB (1). 1. Poxon’s Lazurniy Bereg. PB (2). Beautiful looking pups but not great movers at this stage however they are complete sweeties. 1. Berrington’s Pappersley Sybil Fawlty - Such a lovely outline for one so young. She has the sweetest feminine expression; her skull is quite narrow at this stage of development; her mouth is good; ears are well placed and carried; neck is lean; forequarters are nice and straight; topline is straight and short; her chest needs to broaden a little but the shape is good; hindquarters are sufficiently angulated for age; To be extra picky, I think her feet may be a little long in shape. BP. RBB. 2. Holylan’s Ollarena Ferrary Roma - This puppy is definitely enjoying her day out and this is all I expect from a puppy of this age and it is always good to see. Her coat is in super shiny condition; angulation front and back is very good. Viewed head-on it would be difficult to mistake her for anything other than a puppy bitch; viewed from the back, when she stands still, her legs are straight; feet shape is good. JB (1). 1. Berrington & Sahan’s Jeshua’s Little Missy - Pretty 15- month-old, finely built and feminine. Head is a good shape but dentition could be a little better. Side-on she is not as square as I would like. Her topline is straight but her back is a little long for me. Front angulation and movement is very good; overreaching a little from the rear. Tail set is correct but could do with being a little less tight when carried on the move. PGB (4).1. Holyland’s Ollarena Saffi Ari - Super breed type with a fabulous outline and her angulation is excellent. She is very smart when viewed from all sides; her head is small and her muzzle finely shaped; her expression is friendly and feminine; mouth is correct; when stacked, she stands a little wide in front but her front action is good. I like a lot about this one. BB. 2. Holyland’s Ollarena Fire Fox - As with my class winner there are quite a lot of breed positive points about this one. She has a feminine expression; she is super when viewed from the front and from the rear, but I prefer the outline of my class winner; her movement is good with enough reach when viewed side-on. 3. Welch’s Villanelle Wonderful Toy Joreth. OB (5,2). Movement was quite strong in all in this class; however, my 2nd and 3rd places appear a bit broad in the back and the chest a little too wide. 1. Holyland’s Int/multi Ch Ollarena Queena - Such a well-constructed bitch that is a joy to go over; she is small and not exaggerated in any way; she enough bone to ensure she is not heavy and despite her size, she has plenty of muscle. Her topline is good; rear movement is good but moving a little wide in front today when coming towards me. 2. Codling’s Grande Misterio I Love Love Lingkiss - Nice bitch, strongly constructed. Side-on, I would like a slightly squarer outline, her body length to height ratio is not quite right. Her topline is straight but perhaps a little broad; the shape of her skull is good, being small with a lean muzzle. Movement around the ring is strong. 3. Stacey’s Moyadacha Gin Fizz.
