Bath Championship Show - Dachshund (Smooth-Haired)
A huge thank you the Bath committee for inviting me to judge my sixth variety of dachshunds. Luckily, we were first in the ring, although still incredibly hot. All exhibits and exhibitors managed the heat well.
My ring steward was brilliant and helped manage the ring beautifully on her own.
I was looking for a hound who covered the ground with reach and drive, had good balance and angles while retaining that dachshund character, unique identify and shape. Mouths were surprisingly disappointing and should be considered when breeding as it wasn’t just 1-2 that were incorrect. Temperaments were mixed and let the free movement I was looking for down in a few.
Overall, I found some lovely dogs and a few youngsters with real promise. The atmosphere around the ring was lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed my morning.

8month old and still lots of maturing to do as would be expected. Head shape good. Enough bone and rear feet tight. Topline needs to firm up and settle on stack and when moving. Would benefit from longer upper arm. Good hammy rear. Coat very shiny and super skin. Enjoying his day and still learning to stride out when moving. BPD
