MIDLAND COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 2026

GUNDOG GROUP

I was delighted to receive the invitation to judge the Gundog Group. Many congratulations to the hard working Committee and Stewards.

Lovely Gundog group and I shortlisted 10, which were the Bracco Sh Ch you Can Crown the Queen (Imp), Gordon Setter Am/Int Ch/Ch Carnoustie Let The Game Begin (Imp Aus), Hungarian Vizsla Sh Ch Kincsem Break Every Rule JW, Pointer Davigdor Flanders Field, Golden Retriever Sh Ch Lamancha Question The Truth ShCEx, Import Register the Portugese Pointer Swiss Sh Ch Fabpoint Pagan Through pointoak (Imp Prt).

Group 4 – Chataway Motzi Mabuse, Cocker Spaniel. Mr D C & Mr M D Todd and Rahman

To me typifies a merry cocker spaniel, great cobbiness and lovely temperament. She had the kindest of heads with great expression, good neck into excellent shoulders, good ribs and lovely angulation. Moved with style and power.

Group 3 – Sh Ch Nujax Happy Halloween, American Cocker and Mrs A  Manser & Mrs L Nelson.

Another quality dog and great example of the breed, cleanest of necks into lovely shoulders, good ribs and good muscle. Great angulation and his movement was a joy.

Group 2 – Sh Ch/Bel Ch Glenquin The General, Mr P, Mrs L & Miss N Johnston.

A lovely lad who to me had great workmanlike qualities with great muscle tone. Good masculine head with kind expression, excellent wire coat, good shoulders, excellent angulation and drove around the ring effortlessly but with power and style, great quality.

Group 1 – Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch/Int/Fin Ch GwendariffAbsolutely Marwe’llus, Irish Setter, Miss R Ellrich.

Wow this boy caught my eye when he came into the ring and did not disappoint and definitely lived up to his name. Best of heads, clean throughout, great confirmation and handled so well with great muscle, good angulation and drove around the ring with such style and power, could imagine him on the moors. Well done.
