Hound Association Championship Show 2026

Firstly, I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for the very kind invitation to judge at this really well organised and well run show. I found everyone to be friendly and helpful. Thanks also for the super hospitality.

Secondly, thank you to Callum and Lynne, my very competent stewards, for keeping everything ticking over so smoothly.

Finally, thank you to the exhibitors for such a super entry of 41 PBGV and 21 GBGV - it was very much appreciated as was the ringside atmosphere - it was lovely to hear clapping and cheering around the ring. I certainly enjoyed my day with you all.

1ST – ERYLAN ASTRAEUS

Still very much a baby but with all the essentials, very impressed with his attitude, pleasing in head with slight dome to his skull, eyes of good shape and ears set below the level of his eyes, neck of good length and well placed shoulders, a little soft in topline, good tail carriage, nicely angulated at rear, tidy front with good bone and neat feet, body maturing well with pleasing length and spring of rib, shown in well presented coat and lovely condition, moved out really well, very well handled. 1ST – RANGALI FRANKNFURTER

youngster with plenty of promise, he is nicely balanced and has good proportions, domed skull and the brightest of eyes, ears set on well with correct folds, scores in neck and shoulder with good topline, good tailset and carriage, well put together at rear, bang on front with good bone and tidy feet, elbows tucked in, good forechest, chest dropping in and ribs of good shape and length, with short loin, super coat and condition, sound in action.

2ND – SOLETRADER FIELD MARSHAL

nicely made young man, lovely head and eye with ears of good length and shape, neck fits cleanly into sloping shoulder, level back and good tailset, nicely constructed at rear good bone and tight feet, good forechest, deep in chest and well ribbed, excellent coat and in lovely condition, not quite the movement of 1.

1ST – CH SOLETRADER PUPPET MASTER

lovely for type balance and substance, well proportioned head with slight dome to skull, lovely eye of good colour and shape, ears nicely set on, neck fits cleanly in to well placed shoulder, good topline with slight rise over loin, tail carried well, good width of thigh and turn of stifle allowing strong driving action, very good front with super bone tight feet and elbows tucked in, pleasing forechest, deep in chest with very good ribbing and short muscular loin, first class presentation on a coat of excellent texture, moved with reach and drive, expertly handled, considered for RCC.

2ND – JOUR APRES JOUR CONFETTI RIBBONS (ATC BC 76940NLD)

nice dog with lovely outline, appealing in head and eye, ears set on low, good reach of neck but would prefer a better lay back of shoulder and upper arm, firm topline and moderate rear angles, good one and feet, deep in chest with ribbing of good shape, lovely coat, moved ok

impressive male of good type and substance, masculine head with kindly eye with good length of ears, good reach of neck and shoulder placement, firm topline and well angulated rear, very tidy in front with good bone and tight feet, plenty of heart room, ribs of good shape and length, harsh coat, moved out smartly.

2ND – PROBERT DOC MARTIN

Pleasing in type and head properties, adequate neck and shoulders, firm topline, moderate rear angulation, good front, ribs of good shape and length, coat of good texture, still a bit loose in front but covered the ground well.

quality male of good type, lovely head and eye, neck fits nicely in to well placed shoulders, firm topline, good tail carriage, well constructed at rear giving strong driving action, very good bone and tight feet, deep in chest with very good ribbing and short loin, well presented coat of good texture, sound easy mover. Very well handled.

such a baby, pretty feminine head with dark eyes, nice forehand assembly, good topline and tailset, well constructed rear, bang on front with good bone and tight feet, body developing as it should, lovely coat and presentation, moved really nicely.

1ST – ERYLAN QUEEN MAEVE

ultra feminine youngster of good type and quality, pleasing in head with expressive eye and ears of good shape and length, moderate angulation to shoulders, good topline held on the move and tail carried up, very nice rear construction, good bone and feet, good depth of chest and well ribbed, shown in lovely coat, very pleasing for reach and drive.

2ND – RANGALI COLUMBIA

slightly longer cast than 1 but still retains a lovely outline with a really pretty head and dark expressive eyes, ears set on low and of good length and shape, good shoulder placement and level topline, nicely angulated at rear, good bone and tight feet, deep in chest with ribbing reaching well back, in super coat and condition, moved out well.

1ST – JOUR APRES JOUR ETINCELLE MAGIQUE (ATC BC23601 NLD)

super outline on this lovely feminine bitch, pleasing in head and eye with ears of good shape and length, scores in neck and shoulder, firm topline with good tailset and carriage, well angulated at rear, good front with lovely bone and neat feet, deep in chest and nicely ribbed back to short loin, in very good coat and condition, moved soundly.

2ND – JOUR APRES MAGIC DAZZLE(ATC BD86596NLD)

another with good outline and a nice size she has many attributes but lacks in forehand angulation, shown in good coat a good condition, moved out well but lacked reach. Well handled.

YEARLING

1ST – SOLETRADER GOLLY MISS MOLLY

Really appealing example of the breed, super in profile, lovely head and gentle expressive eyes, good earset, well constructed throughout with good balance, nice coat and lovely condition, moved with style.

2ND – CYNETKOY DOUBLE TROUBLE

not the balance of 1, pleasing head with good eye shape and colour, lacking in forehand angulation, movement was rather loose, very good coat and condition.

LIMIT

1ST – ERYLAN PHOEBE PETIT BIJOU - RBCC

Petit all through, such a super example of the breed, very nicely balanced with a super outline, pretty head with slight dome, dark eyes of good shape and colour giving pleasing expression, moderate stop, ears well set on to frame face, good furnishings, neck of good length fitting cleanly into sloping shoulders, firm topline held on the move, good rear assembly giving strong driving action, very nice front with good bone and neat feet, well pronounced forechest, deep in chest and very good ribbing with short loin, well prepared coat of good texture and delighted to see no overtrimming. Strode out very smartly, expertly handled, awarded a deserving RBCC. Well done.

2ND – MAUDAXI REBEL DIAMONDS JW

good outline and substance, prettiest of heads, with dark eyes and low set ears, balanced angulation, firm topline, good tailset and carriage, very good front and forechest, deep in chest and well ribbed, really harsh coat, moved well both coming and going.

3RD – BALLENCRIEFF JINGLE BELLE

1ST – CH SOLETRADER FOMO - BCC & BOB

this one screams Petit, scores in type, balance and lovely quality.  Lovely in profile, she’s a very good size and so feminine, very pleasing head of good proportions, with lovely bright fun filled eyes of good colour and shape, ears frame her face so nicely, excellent forehand assembly, firm topline and tail carried up, good width of thigh and turn of stifle, very good front with nice bone and neat feet, good forechest, deep in chest with good ribbing of good shape and length, well presented harsh coat and in super condition. Moved with reach and drive covering the ground so well, she did start to feel the heat in the challenge but certainly did enough, expertly handled as always.

2ND – JOUR APRES JOUR TWICE AS NICE JW (ATC BC33879NLD)

so typical and balanced, pleasing in head with dark expressive eyes, good ears and set, good reach of neck and well placed shoulders she just lacks in upper arm. Firm topline and good tailset, good bend of stifle, super front with good bone and feet, deep in chest with ribs of good shape and length, muscular loin, coat of good texture, moved out smartly.

3RD – MAUDAXI JOANIE LOVES CHACHA JW

VETERAN

two lovely oldies who really enjoyed their spin around the ring. Both a credit to their owners.

1ST – CH/IR INT CH ERYLAN HEBE LA FILLE JEUNE IR JCH

balanced and a very nice type, lovely head with the gentlest expression, good ears and set, neck fits cleanly into sloping shoulders, still retains a firm level topline both standing and on the move, tail carried up, very good rear angulation, good bone and feet, lovely forechest with deep chest and excellent ribbing with short muscular loin, good coat texture and well presented, moved out so soundly. Really well handled. BVIB

2ND – CYNETKOY CHILLI ROMANCE

a lovely 10 year old of excellent type and balance, very appealing in head and eye with ears nicely set, muscular neck of good length and well placed shoulders, slightly soft in topline nicely angulated at rear, good bone and feet, deep in chest with good ribbing, shown in good coat, moved really well, handled to advantage.
