I very much enjoyed my first CC appointment in Pointers, I had some super dogs to go over, temperaments were exemplary, mouths all good, one or two untypical heads lacking the required well-defined stop and slight dish that makes the head of a Pointer so unique and recognisable but I was pleased not to see the ski-slope toplines that seem to have crept into the breed in recent years. I thought my BOB was just gorgeous and delighted to see her take Gundog Group 2 in excellent company.

1st: 841 PHILO, Ms S R Fydal Caprio At Salmonmist JW Sh.CM OSW ShCEx VW SGWS 9Yr O/W lovely head with dark eye, well set ears, clean, muscular neck flowing smoothly into well laid shoulders, correct depth of chest and enough forechest, well boned legs to correct feet, strong in topline with correct tailset which he carried correctly on the move, sound mover, BVD & BVIB

1st: 805 BOND, Dr K Pharises Drake O/W 9M nice head with with slight dish, lovely length of neck into correct front assembly, excellent in forechest, chest to elbow & ribs well sprung, well boned straight legs to tight feet, well angulated hindquarters, good depth of thigh, moved very steadily for a youngster, BPD

2nd: 830 MATTHEWS, Mrs Alison Sonham Brimstone, B/W 9M I judged this pup recently and my opinion of him hasn’t changed, he has a sweet head & expression, good angulation fore & aft but not the substance of 1 and needing to drop a little in chest again, he has super feet and good bone, on the move he had reach & drive in profile but was a little erratic on the up & down, he just needs to gain a bit more confidence and given time I’m sure he will

1st: 837 OLIVER, Mrs Jennifer & OLIVER, Miss Meg & OLIVER, Wilchrimane Florin To Olivesong JW 14M O/W head of good proportions but wouldn’t want it any broader, lovely eye colour, strong neck & shoulders, enough forechest, chest deep and well ribbed, strong topline & correct tailset, good legs and tight feet, nicely angulated fore & aft, well balanced & on the move he went with reach & drive, RDCC

2nd: 821 ISHERWOOD, Mrs C A Wilchrimane Miso Happy With Symitry 13M O/W I preferred the head of this boy which was just a little more moderate, good, clean neck into well laid shoulder, excellent forechest & depth, longer in loin than 1 and not so balanced overall, not so settled on the move

1st: 810 BOOTH, Mrs Susan Elizabeth & ODDIE, Mrs Samantha Lundgarth Fly The Flag JW O/W of almost 2Y, correct head with dark eye giving a soft expression, clean neck flowing into well laid shoulder & strong topline, correct tailset, well boned legs and nice tight well arched feet, well angulated, moved well covering the ground, close decision between 1&2 but just felt this boy flowed better through neck to shoulder

2nd: 848 SMITH, Mrs Lesley-Ann & SMITH, Mr Paul & WELCH, Mr Quinnery Swinderby By Lypal O/W another of almost 2Y, I liked his head and hazel eye colour, good in forechest & front, balanced & good depth, nicely angulated all round, well boned straight forelegs, lovely feet, moved well

1st: 830 MATTHEWS, Mrs Alison Sonham Brimstone, 2nd in PD, although the youngest & least mature in this class he was best for breed type and was more settled on the move than in the previous class

2nd: 846 SHARPE, Miss Sara Joneva Dazzle And Daze B/W, surprised to find an almost 7Y old in this class, head ok but lacking the well-defined stop and rather narrow, nice ey and kind expression, enough neck, shoulders a little upright & rear angles ok, good depth of chest and spring of rib, strong topline held well on the move 

3rd: 826 KUZBARI, Miss Sara Kananaskis Galliago

Class 426 GD (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 861 WILCOX, Mrs Karen Harvestslade Fire And Ice Through Merynjen JW O/W almost 3Y, I really liked this boy for his overall size & balance, super head with correct stop & dish, dark eye with kind expression, strong neck, super front assembly, tight elbows, good oval bone to tight feet, lovely on the move covering the ground with reach & drive, pushed hard for top honours today

2nd: 847 SIDDLE, Mrs Annette & SIDDLE, Miss Amelia & MAZZEO Miss Demi Wilchrimane Cereal Killer B/W of almost 2Y, slightly smaller all round than 1 but a very neat and balanced boy, I liked his head and dark eye, super neck with slight arch into well laid shoulders, good depth & excellent forechest, enough bone & substance, feet could be a little tighter, strong topline to correct tailset all of which was held well on the move which was sound but not quite the drive of 1

1st: 827 MATTHEWS, Mrs Alison Sonham Just The Ticket (ai) JW L/W 2Y lovely balanced head of good breadth, correct stop & pronounced occiput, strong, slightly arched neck into correct front assembly, strong topline & well set tail, good depth & spring of rib, tight elbows, a little long in loin but was balanced all through, moved well in the class wasn’t so settled in the challenge 

2nd: 820 HOFFMAN, Mrs Sharon-louise Teisgol Patronus With Camairo B/W 3Y, not the head of 1 but nice eye & expression, good neck & forechest, well laid shoulders, enough bone, pasterns could be a little stronger, nice rear angles, well-muscled, moved well

3rd: 819 DUNNETT, Mrs Linda Alcazar Excalibur

1st: 797 ADAMS, Mrs L D Sh Ch Carofel Wings Of Hope Jw Ww23 Swiss Jr Ch O/W 4Y I last judged this boy at 8M old where I gave him BP and Puppy Group 1 with him ending the day taking BPIS, I said then that he must surely have a very bright future, I was delighted to see him today the mature, finished article, there’s nothing overdone about this lad, from his lovely head with dark, expressive eyes, to his strong neck into super front assembly, straight forelegs with correct oval bone, tight, well arched feet, depth of brisket & well sprung ribs, short coupled to muscular hindquarters with depth & width of thigh, well-muscled, keeping a strong topline & correct tail carriage he covered the ground with ease, displaying drive and reach, elegant & aristocratic, pleased to award him the DCC

2nd: 836 OLIVER, Miss Meg & STILGOE, Mr And Mrs P And D Sh Ch Teisgol Love Is In The Air ShCEx O/W 6Y another that I’ve done well in the past, today unlucky to meet 1, cobbier than 1 with a nice head and soft expression, neck flowing into a strong topline down to correct tailset, good front, excellent muscle with good depth of first & second thigh, another sound mover driving from behind.

1st: 814 BROOKSMITH, Miss Amanda Nightgold Pipkin L/W 7Y nice head with dark eye, well set ears of correct length, strong neck, deep & wide enough in chest, straight forelegs of correct oval bone, well angulated hindquarters, moved well BVB

2nd: 806 BOOTH, Mrs Susan Elizabeth Sharnphilly Ginger Fizz At Lundgarth OW 7Y another with a lovely head, in fact I preferred this head to that of 1, well set ears framing her head, strong, nice clean neck, good in forechest, good spring of rib but could be a little deeper, correct front angulation with complementing rear angles, moved well but was tending to go a little wide in front coming towards me

Class 431 MPB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 844 RADCLIFFE, Mrs J Sniperay Outdoor Girl O/W of just 6M who caught my eye on first look round, so balanced & together for her age, she already has a super head with good eye colour, well constructed front assembly with excellent forechest, super angles all round, well boned legs and correct oval feet and arched toes, on the move it was hard to believe she was just 6M as she was so steady with good reach & drive BPB & BPIB, I shall watch her future with interest

2nd: 858 WELCH, Mrs S Quinnery Betsy Trotwood At Hookwood B/W of almost 9M, nicely balanced head but a little too much flew, clean neck, well laid shoulders, good depth of chest & forechest, strong topline, nice rear angles, moved out well holding her topline & tail correctly

3rd: 853 TAYLOR, Mrs Sue & TAYLOR, Mr Russell Sniperay Santorini

1st: 804 BOND, Dr K Pharises Doja Cat B/W 9M litter sister to BPD, prettiest of heads with lovely dark eyes but I found them a little round, nice neck into good forehand, deep in chest with tight elbows, good oval bone to lovely feet, well angulated all round, was steady on the move just tending to go a little close behind but another promising prospect

1st: 813 BROOKSMITH, Miss Amanda Sharnphilly Lyrical B/W 13.5M with a lovely head of correct proportions, dark expressive eye and well set ears, clean slightly arched neck into well laid shoulders, good in forechest and nice depth of chest, well boned legs and tight feet, good rear angles and excellent depth & width of thigh, lovely positive mover

2nd: 859 WELCH, Mrs S & HAZELTINE, Miss Connie Corotine Noir Blossom With Hookwood JW B/W almost 17M, little more mature than 1 with another lovely head and expression, would have liked a fraction more length of ear, she has a good front, strong topline, tailset ok, not the rear angulation or depth of thigh of 1 and moved a little close behind but looked well in profile on the move

1st: 799 BARHAM, Mrs Lynne Droveborough Witchy Woman JW L/W rising 2Y she had a lovely balanced head with correct defined stop and hazel eyes which tone with her rich liver markings, lovely clean, strong neck into well laid shoulder, strong topline & correct tailset, well boned legs and good feet, very positive on the move covering the ground with ease

2nd: 828 MATTHEWS, Mrs Alison Sonham Just A Pretty Belle (ai) JW 2Y L/W, close decision between 1 & 2 although they are different types, this girl has a lovely head with correct stop and slight dish, strong clean neck, well laid shoulders, depth of brisket and elbows held close, good sweep of stifle, well boned legs to good feet, wasn’t quite as positive on the move as 1 but still a nice, sound mover

2nd: 811 BOULTON, Mrs Amanda & BOULTON, Ms Lydia Codnorhawk Starlight On Moreoldglen L/W rising 4Y, sweet head and dark eye, excels in forechest, has good depth & spring of rib, well-laid back shoulders, strong topline & correct tail set, nicely angulated hindquarters with good width of thigh, moved well

1st: 815 BÄCK, Ms Madeleine Anna Charlotte Int Ch Wilchrimane Frangipani O/W rising 4Y, my notes say “beautiful” and she is, from nose to tail she epitomises the breed standard description of outline being a series of graceful curves, super head of correct proportions with a lovely hazel eye, clean, slightly arched neck into excellent forehand assembly, straight front legs of oval bone, deep in chest with plenty of heart room, strong, well developed & muscled hindquarters with correct sweep of stifle and well let down hocks, she is so balanced & stands over her ground on super, a joy to watch on the move as she drives around the ring, in the Group ring she just floated round completely at one with her clever handler, it was my pleasure to award her BCC & BOB, to see her take Gundog Group 2 was the icing on the cake

2nd: 801 BLACKBURN-BENNETT, Miss Heather Kanix Smoochie At Stargang another almost 4Y O/W, slightly stronger in head than 1 but still correct with a lovely expression, another with an excellent front with good depth & spring of rib, just not quite so tight in elbow, nice topline to correct tail, well angulated rear, she moved out soundly but couldn’t quite match 1 for drive
