SPANISH WATER DOG

Having had the largest entry for gundogs today with 3 breeds to judge, I’d like to thank you not only for the lovely entry but also for your patience and understanding. Anyone who has watched me judge previously will know I’m not slow but as the third breed in the ring after big entries in the two previous breeds I was being pushed to get through you all to get everyone into the groups, that said, I endeavoured to give everyone the same time & consideration I gave every other dog today so was pleased my BOB made the Group literally as the last dog was being gone over, to then watch him take Gundog Group 4 in such good company was the icing on the cake.

1st: 1469 DONALDSON, Mrs F Zorrazo Alter Bridge At Prizelands (imp Hrv) 7.5Y Br/W D nice size, masculine head without being overdone, dark eye, short neck into well laid shoulder, depth of brisket and tight elbows, balanced angulation, coat of good curl & texture, moved soundly with drive carrying his long tail correctly, BVIB

2nd: 1472 DURRANT, Mrs C & DURRANT, Mr A & DURRANT, Mr M Glenturret Venus 10Y W/Br B, certainly not showing her age, she has a lovely head, strong short neck into good front assembly, depth & balance all through, good feet, not quite the rear angulation of 1 but moved well with drive

1st: 1465 BENNETTS, Miss Chelsea Lendever's Valiant Hero almost 4Y Bl/W D of almost 4Y, pleasing head with dark eye, a little long on leg so not the balance I was looking for, nicely constructed, coat completely clipped off but very short, woolly curl evident, was rather erratic on the move

1st: 1478 HODGKINSON-RUTHERFORD, Dr K & RUTHERFORD, Mr M Zorrazo Hit The Nail On The Head For Chanderhill I recently judged this 2.5Y Br bobtail, on that day I gave him BOB, Group 1 and RBIS, I like this boy for size and type, he is so well balanced all through with the correct head, short muscular neck into a well-made forehand assembly, moderately angulated with well-muscled hindquarters and a well-developed second thigh, well boned legs down to round, tight feet, all topped off with a coat of woolly curls, he moves out on a brisk, driving stride covering the ground with ease, pleased to award him BOB and delighted to see him go on to Gundog Group 4

2nd: 1466 CAPILLE, Mrs Rachel Lendever's Man Among Men another really nice, well-constructed D who pushed 1 all the way today, W/Br of 21M, super head with correct planes, correct shaped eye and nice soft expression, well set ears, short well-muscled neck flowing into correctly shoulders, good depth of chest with well sprung ribs, elbows held tight, level back down to well set tail, all held correctly on the move which was positive and sound, another in super coat not quite as mature as 1 at the moment but lots to like, RBD

1st: 1474 GRIGG, Mrs Natalie Aguamarina's Cavern Club At Kimsha 9M Br, sweet head and nice eye, ears a fraction long, good neck into well laid shoulders, enough depth, in a slightly longer coat of correct texture, moderate hind angulation, sound mover once settled BP

1st: 1467 CAPILLE, Mrs Rachel Lendever's Time To Shine W/Bl just out of puppy and what a promising future this girl must have, super head and expressive eye, so balanced and well-constructed, excellent front assembly with good forechest, depth and well-ribbed back with good spring of rib already, well boned legs to lovely feet, well-muscled hindquarters with well-developed second thigh, in super coat & condition, on the move she is a picture, so sound and driving, despite her age couldn’t be denied BB

1st: 1468 CLOUGH, Mrs Roseleen Anne Perrorizado Isla Zuaza 3.5Y Bl, feminine head with good eye colour & nice expression, short neck, well constructed forehand with good forechest, straight legs to good feet, moderate rear angulation, moved ok

2nd: 1471 DONALDSON, Mrs F Prizelands Tickled My Fancy JW W/Br/W almost 3Y feminine head with a lovely dark, expressive eye, strong neck to well laid shoulder, good depth and spring of rib, strong topline & correct tail set, long tail which she carries correctly on the move with was brisk & sound, not quite the drive behind of 1
