Ulster Chihuahua Club

Breed: Chihuahua (Smooth Coat)

Always a pleasure to attend the Ulster Chihuahua Club show which I have done so for many years. This year I had been invited to judge the Smoothcoat entry which although on the low side, there was plenty of quality among those present. A warm welcome awaited me with Thanks to Wilma & Patsy McDevitt, and Francine Kelly, for all their hard work, plus Thank You to my most capable of ring stewards Gordon (Gault) who did an excellent job keeping the ring flowing at a sensible pace. I found temperaments excellent, & apart from a couple of dodgy mouths, the breed overall generally in my opinion is picking up.

PD: 2 (2) 1 Burgoynes Hugachi Just William, A very confident & promising cream 10 month old who has a great deal to like about him, has a very pleasing head with ears well set, eyes large, has a decent mouth, a lovely reach of neck running into correctly placed shoulders giving a level topline & tail carried on high. All he lacks is maturity, like a few others today, but with some time & a fair wind his future should be very secure. 2) Halls Jorazan Kairos Kooky Sox, a light red with typical head, moderate length of muzzle & with no exaggeration, correctly placed ears, He is well bodied with a decent spring of rib, topline & tail set as per the breed standard, nicely balanced throughout, but he just needs to finish maturing.

JD: 1 (1) 1 Rooneys Copymear Conquistidor With Yorone, Such an eye catching puppy, fawn with white trim, he has been well trained & went through his paces with ease & fluency. His head is strong without being overdone, large ears & large eyes, mouth ok, muzzle slightly tapering. Legs straight & well set under his chest, topline is bang on and carried his tail on high at all times. His future is assured BPD & BPIB who later went onto take BPIS.

LD: 2 (1) 1 Silversteins Silverchi Tonight We Dance, Well presented, pleasing light fawn with a nice skull shape, lovely large dark eyes, has a good attitude, his movement was fine, and he carried his tail on high, overall presented a pleasing picture & was well handled.

OD: 2 (2) 1 Bells Am Ch Knockout Chuck A Duck For Jahneemahs (impUSA) , 17month old cobby black tricolour who catches the eye with his confident attitude. Upon inspection, this lad has the perfect head, large eyes, good mouth, correct length of muzzle with no hint of exaggeration. Moved with fluency, & confidence, he is so well balanced, couldn't find anything I would wish to change on him, & the icing on the cake, so beautifully presented. CC & BOB. 2 Neath-Coyne & Coyne Ir: Ch. Jorazan Sox It Tome With Buffrey JW, smaller than winner, he is a rich red with a nice head, pleasing to go over, everything as it should be & in the correct places. A good turn of stifle, he has a good attitude to showing, & moved soundly.

CHD: 4 (4) 1, Taylors Ch.Arkoschi Don't Stop Me Now, JW 2 year old well known small & compact blue/fawn lad who I had been keen to get my hands on for a while. He did not disappoint in any way, His head has no exaggeration, his light eyes goes with his light colour, mouth is clean & correct, Has his legs well set, under his chest, a good spring of rib, & presentation was perfect. Went about his work with enthusiasm, hard to overlook & pleased to award him ResCC. 2 Halls Ch. Jorazan Quincy Quirky Sox JW, another lad I had been waiting to judge, & he too did not disappoint, at only a couple of months short of his 5th birthday he has been there, done that & has the T shirt, .but still has spark about him, put in a good challenge, So easy to see why he is a Ch, but I just felt the younger boy was slightly more fluent today. 3 Parts Ir Ch JN Ch Stud Book Fairywings Toyboy .

MPB: 1(1)

PB: 2 (2) 1 Lewis' Tyssul Gentle Whispers, Sweet, petite flashily marked black tri colour , fine boned, pleasing to go over on the table, she showed off her good points, including good mouth. I really felt for her owner, when in the BPB Challenge threw it all away & could no way be coaxed to show me her many charms. 2 Silversteins Silverchi Lavender Sparkle, Similar remarks apply to this pretty fawn, with a pleasing expression, both these pups AND the junior class BP were very raw but with time on their sides to grow & develop into adults they could well be up there with the best in due course.

JB 1(1) 1 Silversteins Silverchi Magic Moment, 11month old fine boned fawn who has a pretty head, with correct muzzle length, high tail when on the move. Will improve given time.

NB 2 (1) 1 As PB

PGB 1 (1) 1 Kellys Frapachi Katie Did It a very pleasing white girl of nice size, has a sweet femine head with large eyes, & large ears that she used to full advantage, a level topline, her bone correct for her size, she is well put together, movement was ok and her tail was forever wagging. Very responsive to her owner.

LB: 2 (2) 1 Halls Jodeschi Sox Appeal At Jorazan, Gold of nice breed type, She has large eyes & large ears, elbows are tight & front is straight, feet neat & tidy, a pleasing spring of rib, she also sports a level topline, moves with attitude & drive, really liked her & in the Challenge was pleased to award her the RESCC. 2 Silversteins Silverchi Dixie Darling a 2 year old smaller fawn, who has such a charming expression, with lovely large dark eyes, she is balanced on the move butI wasn't keen on the curl in the tail, but still a useful girl.

OB: 2 (2) 1 Lewis & Clarke Chompiras Fields of Gold a 2 year old Red/white with decent width of chest which led to tight elbows & straight front, not overly happy to show off her best points, but on the move, it all came togethger. 2 Gingers Jodeschi Glamour Puss, of pleasing type she hardly started going through her paces when she developed a bout of the snorts. Her owner tried everything to clear the noise, but to no avail sadly.

CH:B, 3 (2) 1 Careys IRCH, JRCH, UKR CW26, Wasabi Almaznogo Ostrova, A new to me, 2 year old bitch that had quality galore about it. A beautiful head with soft expression, & a correct mouth, she is so pleasing to go over, Has a decent neck, well placed shoulders good spring of rib & moved with confidence, plenty of rear drive. I awarded her the CC, her first over here, I would like to think if campaigned she would soon gain her UK title, She later went onto take the BOS in breed
