Southern Counties Canine Association

With something in hand the best of the five groups I judged this week-end.

I selected ten dogs from this Group and could have chosen even more. The selected and unplaced were:

The Hungarian Wirehaired vizsla Zoldmali Ezmi, the Irish Setter Sh.Ch .Gwendariff Skys The Limit, the Italian Spinone Sh.Ch. Annilann Temptress Del Machiamo, the Pointer De Las Navazuelas Judeline at Riberbue, the American Cocker Spaniel Sh.Ch. Nujax Happy Halloween and the Welsh Springer Spaniel Sh.Ch. Nyrilam Telling Tales.

Group 1: Bracco Italiano Sh.Ch. Piccorino Pheasant Plucker

What a dog! He has the ideal combination of masculine power and strength with quality. Close to square in his body proportions. Typey head with excellent length, width and proportions and typical divergent head planes. Lovely ears, correctly folded. Strong and crested neck well set into his shoulders. Highly typical "two-piece topline" with correct arch to his loin. Well angulated and well muscled rear. A powerhouse on the move and a lesson in the unique extended and untiring trot of the breed, at all times retinaing his perfect balance and outline. A dog that must be destined for the top.

Group 2: Hungarian Vizsla Sh.Ch. Kincsem Break Every Rule

Well proportioned dog, strong and masculine, yet with the required medium bone. Masculine head with muzzle typically a little shorter than skull. Attractive expression. Well set, crested neck. Short body, but long enough to allow mobility. Correct depth and volume of chest and body. Excellent topline and tailset. Moderate, balanced angulation both ends. Lovely coat and colour. In excellent condition. A rarely sound mover, pefection coming and going and lovely from the side. Unlucky to meet the winner.

Group 3: Labrador Retriever Alkhamhust Prime Shot

Instantly attractive, substantial and well balanced black dog of outstanding type and quality. Very typical head with broad skull, correct stop. Dark and expressive eyes. Well set ears. Strong neck, well set into shoulder. Deep chest and barrel shaped ribs. Short enough and compact in his body wtih a strong, firm topline. Well set and carried otter tail. Short and dense coat with a good undercoat. He moved very well indeed from all angles, at all times keeping his outline and balance. 

Group 4: Portuguese Pointer from AV Import Register Swiss Sh.Ch. Fabpoint Pagan Through Pointoak

A great moving bitch. She is of excellent size, somewhat longer than square. Combines qaulity with good bone and substance without exaggeration. Typical head with converging planes and a pronounced stop. Well set and carried ears. Alert expression. Medium long neck, smoothly set. Well angulated both ends. Strong and firm topline. Well sprung ribs and correct depth. Excellent coat and colour. She is a very impressive mover indeed with excellent extension, suppleness and balance.
