RICHMOND CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW

Afghan Hounds

Thank you for the very good entry .I enjoyed my morning with the breed.Style of a high order in the carriage of the breed and the light lifting movement are so important( quite different from the show pony extended trot which is desirable in some breeds and seen in some Afghans) and I reward these features highly. I rate Angulated croups and good tails -which are now sadly rare in the breed also very important features of breed type.It was good to find some lovely youngsters coming up in both sexes.

It was a bonus that the weather stayed fine enough to use the big ring and see the dogs enjoying the opportunity to stride out

Many thanks to my steward Jane Towers.

VD (1, 0)

1 GARDNER Ch Drishaun Said Tiger To Lily

8 year old Brindle houndy with some lift in his movement. A little long for perfect balance, but he has quality, and is in firm condition. Good head type. His tail could have a more defined ring to it.

MPD (2, 0)

1 SEAMARKS & NEMOTO Rhythm'n Blues A Touch Of Freedom (imp Deu)

6 months Old who is well constructed in the forehand which gives him light, springy movement. Masculine head with good eye shape. His croup could be better,

2 GUNN & CANNON Ring Of Fire A Touch Of Freedom Zushkhan (Imp) Deu black. Litter brother to the winner. He is out of a smaller mould but has a better tail than the winner. I preferred the shoulder placement of the winner. He took time to settle, but eventually went with style and confidence

JD (3, 1)

1 KIRK & MOTTERSHAW Istani Robert De Niro At Elegance 15 months gold dog who needs more body and time to drop in the chest. Excellent head and I would prefer a little more angulation at both ends. He has a good tail.

2 PARSONS Shukriya Fade To Black 17 months looks a little long for balance at the moment, but when he gets body and coat this will improve. He has lift in his movements but he is still a teenager and lacks coordination. With confidence and maturity, he will do better.

YD (2, 0) two Litter brothers of different type and both with their different qualities

1 HOUSE & HINCHLIFFE Cloudside Soul Prince For Jodak JW black and tan who has a very good head and is light and elegant on a move. He needs time to develop, and drop in chest good front assembly. His croup is a little severe but he has a correct tail.

2 BELLRINGER & BELLRINGER Cloudside Prince Of Theives At Johda a gold dog who is heavier in type. He is very well constructed and has good carriage. He scores in body, over the winner at the moment, but not the refinement. He was presented beautifully.

GD (3, 1)

1 MCLAY Chinzaes Tartan Express 2-year-old black and tan who needs more rib and body. However, on the move, he was balanced, light on his feet, and carries himself well. Needs a little more finish to his presentation. Lacks ring to his tail

2 KIDD Cloudside Prince Of Light Jw 23 months cream. who looked balanced with a good length of leg and good outline. Beautifully presented, but very much at a teenage stage and this showed in his front action. A little severe in croup. Maturity will help him a lot

PGD (4, 0)

1 LANCASHIRE & O'DONNELL Drishaun Autumnal King JW 2-year-old self-masked gold, who scored in chest and rib here. He has a masculine head with good underjaw. Built on lovely proportions and is well constructed. Could have a little more lift on the move.

2 BELLRINGER Cloudside Ebony Prince at Johda JW 2-year-old dark Brindle who has great style, on the move and looked, very elegant. However, he needs to develop more substance. He has a refined quality head. With maturity he can do well.

3 MCLAY Chinzaes Tartan Highlander

LD (7, 1) Some depth of quality in this class

1 MOORE Cloudside Black Hawk 2-year-old black and tan. who stood away for his style, and carriage. Going over him revealed very good angulation and assembly which produced his light scopey movements. A balanced head, lovely eye. Not yet fully mature in body or coats but I think him a very good prospect He made the last three in the challenge and should have a good future. One of the bright hopes on the day.

2 HITCH Zendushkas Take That 4-year-old more refined dog who is very elegant, but I would prefer a little more strength in foreface and a slightly darker eye. On the move a little loose in elbows but he has a lot to like.

3 GILCHIRST & MACLENNAN Khawari Purple Reign

OD (7, 0) this was a really good class and some good dogs were out of the cards.

1 LANCASHIRE & O'DONNELL Ch Drishaun Baby's In Black JW DCC & BOB & GRP 1 & RBIS this 3-year-old black and tan is top size for me, but he is full of quality, and moved with style and light lift to his front action and very good tail and tail carriage. A masculine head with quality but could have a little more chiselling. He has well shaped dark I loved the movement and style of thiseyes. He won this place, on his action, top line and lift, on the move CC. Later BOB, won the group and reserve best in show.

2 PASCOE Int Ch Lux Ch NL Ch UK Ch Bel Ch Popovs Aladdin At RDVV & BVIB a gold dog of 7 years which I liked him immensely for size and proportions. I preferred his head, to the winner but on the day, he was a little heavy in body and without the lift and elegance of the winner reserve CC best veteran

3 NEILLY Ch Way Up Walker To Cloudside (imp Ita) I loved the movement and carriage of this dog who is out of a smaller mould be he filled the eye going round the ring.

VB (1, 0)

1 RHODES & SHAVERNEVA & GARRA Shadowfax Threepenny Opera JW 8 years old cream, with domino pattern with a very good head and eye shape. Stylish On the move.

MPB (4, 0) A, lovely class of puppies on their first outing and also showing great promise

1 HUGHES Karnak Lady Luck For Gezancol BPIB Black masked gold beautifully balanced and full of confidence, and when she settled movement and carriage were remarkable coming from excellent angulation at both ends. She has a beautiful shape, the feminine head and good eye superb croup and tail. Should have a great future, best puppy

2 GILBERT Affietar Sunday 6 months Brindle with quality and with natural presence. Lovely to go over. She moved well. But not quite the scope of the winner. Another high-quality puppy.

3 GILCHIRST Affietar The Tide Is High At Khawari

PB (5, 0)

1 MCLOUGHLIN Unstoppable Colors Of The Wind Of Zantescwtch (Swe) Ten month black and tan who has an excellent outline with good proportions good croup and tail. She has a quality feminine head. Rather light in body on the day and needs to develop in chest but had a big pull in maturity here.

2 GILBERT Affietar Maria 6 months Gold, a tall houndy bitch with some style. I prefer the croup of the winner, good outline and balance Needs time to fill her frame.

3 GILCHIRST Affietar The Tide Is High At Khawari

JB (4, 0)

1 MILLWARD & RACE Aust Ch Tahkira Violetta To Alouann (ai) (imp)15 months blue, of beautiful type. With excellent outline, which she holds on the move. Quality feminine head, on a good neck. Good croup and pin bones and went well with lovely lift on the move. Something unsettled her at the end of the class and in the challenge, she did not regain her early posture, a pity.

2 KIRK & HUGHES Istani Liza Minnelli With Finkime 15 months with beautiful head and eye. She is very stylish on the move. But not yet the chest of the winner, or the angulation in her croup. However, she is a beautiful quality bitch and will do well.

3 PARSONS Shukriya The Memory Remains

YB (3, 0)

1 NEILLY & MOORE Cloudside Whispering Angel 18 months houndy black bitch, who won this place on balance and movement. Clean head with excellent eye. She needs time to fill out in chest and body up.

2 HUGHES & FORREST Gezancol Finix Love Me Do a smaller bitch who needs more leg to balance her and this was not helped by her carrying a very heavy coat. She won this place on chest and ribbing.

3 GUNN & CANNON Golddragon Bubble Bounce Into Zushkhan (Sp Imp) JW

NB (1, 0)

1 SMITH Madelion Lady Rhea at her first show with her newcomer owner who is also new to the Show World. Her puppy developed in confidence as the classes progressed and she finally settled to show that she was sound in movement. I hope she will come up on the leg a little. I think owner and dog will benefit from some help at training classes.

GB (1, 0)

1 HIRST Ayoubkhan Snow Cloud 5-year-old self-masked cream. She is well proportioned with good shoulder and upper arm. Good head type with correct eye shape. Could have more chest and this showed in her front action. Sound but lacked verve

PGB (4, 1)

1 LANCASHIRE & O'DONNELL Drishaun Consider It Done JW 2-year-old black/cream presented in beautiful condition. She has a clean feminine head. Her eye is a little large. Went nicely here but her tail carriage could be a little better.

2 LORENZO RIVERS Prestigious How Will I Know 3 year old brindle a very houndy bitch but without her coat on the day. Well-constructed with a good chest. Moves well with lift but not carrying her tail well.

3 HUMPHREYS Drishaun Consider Me Taken

LB (7, 1)

1 GUNN & CANNON Karagez Kartina Maslom At Zushkhan RBCC 5-year-old black/tan beautifully constructed which gave her the best movement in this class. Maturity in chest and rib. Good croup and tail which she carried well. She has a feminine head which could have a little more strength in the muzzle and a slightly darker eye. However, the overall picture pleased me and in the challenge her movement took her to RCC.

2 RHODES & SHAVERNEVA & GARRA Alaqadar Ariodante Of Shadowfax (imp) high quality 3-year-old black bitch with beautiful movement and carriage but not the front angulationor chest of the winner of the winner. I preferred her head and expression but loved the body properties and style of the winner- a close decision for me.

3 FAIRBURN & DELLA ROCCA & JOY Way Up Bombay Sapphire (Imp) It

OB (6, 2) two lovely bitches to top this class

1 MILLIGAN-BOTT & BOTT Ch Medawlark Attitude Is Key The Wones Thendara BCC 6-year-old and looked a picture and went with great style. She could have a touch more leg for perfect balance not helped by carrying maximum body on the day. However, on the move she filled the eye with her stride and carriage but for perfection she could have a more defined ring to the tail CC A beautifully stylish bitch which put her on top today

2 HALL Ch Saxonmill Majic Mirror 5-year-old high-quality bitch, with lovely leg length and proportions. Good to go over and she went soundly but without the lift and carriage of the winner on the day. She has a great career and deservedly so but I thought she looked a little tired on the day.

3 HEDGE Ch Unstoppable Happy Go Lucky (ai) (Swed Imp)
