Three Counties Agricultural Society  Sunday 6th June 2026

Thank you for a wonderful show, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at your championship show.  My appreciation also goes to my stewards for their time and excellent assistance throughout the days. It was a real pleasure to judge Irish Red and White Setter. Thank you all for your entries and for the good nature shown by the exhibitors in accepting my decisions on the day. Hope you all found it as enjoyable as I did judging your wonderful dogs.

1ST 4808 - Roanjora Cremant Bourgogne Intro Ex (Mrs S J Jones)

A balanced and compact 2.75 year old dog with a refined headset, showing good depth of foreface and a clean, broad muzzle, skull is domed with good stop, pleasing expression with good eye shape and colour, ears are well set. A muscular neck of moderate length, flowing into well placed shoulders, topline is firm and level, with correct tail carriage. Movement was steady with enough drive, would like to see slightly longer strides.

1ST 4804 - Gilliegrae So Berry Excited JW (Mr G J & Mrs G A Hart)

At just 19 months old he is still maturing, but his balance and proportions are well developed, he does have a smaller frame than some. Headset stood out for me with a nice broad head, good stop, and domed skull, correct eye colour, and shape giving a classic breed expression. Neck has good length, correct arch and is well muscled, fore and hind quarters having nice angulations, allowing good drive, his rear construction supports his movement effectively, and his balance is evident throughout providing long, free striding ring coverage. His movement giving him the edge today.

2ND 4811 - Roanjora Cremant De Savoie avec Eusanit JW (Miss R & Miss S & Mrs T McDonald & Westwood & Westwood)

At nearly 3 years old this is another good example of the breed, giving me a difficult decision today. Presented in good condition, he shows good overall conformation and balance. A classic headset with a good eye, correct stop, and a well proportioned head, a muscular neck flows cleanly into well placed shoulders, strong forequarters, a deep chest, spring of rib, hind quarters are strong, with balanced angulation, allowing him to show himself off well when moving. I can see them swapping places with my first regularly.

1ST 4806 - Settersay Targaryen Lowdon (Miss V Jarvis)

A 2.5 year old, a clean flowing outline with pleasing balance throughout. Headset is feminine well proportioned, correct domed skull, dark, expressive eye, and an ear set that complements, stop is well defined. Neck good length, flowing smoothly into correctly placed shoulders, shows a fair return of upper arm, allowing for a natural forward reach, feet are neat, nicely sprung ribs that carry well back. Her topline remains level both standing and, on the move, covered the ring well giving her 1st place today.

2ND 4805 - Coolfin Baltic Turn The Page (Miss P Jakins)

A younger bitch approaching 2 years old, displaying the essential hallmarks expected, her construction and balance are maturing nicely. Headset is feminine and refined, appealing expression, skull proportions are correct, fore and hind angulations are balanced and topline held well. Was slightly distracted on the move but did settle down, just preferred the overall package of the 1st today.

1900. Irish Red and White Setter - Open Bitch Entries: 4 Absentees: 2

1ST 4802 - Sh Ch Ambancy This Is Me (Mrs J Barnes)

At nearly 5 years old, this bitch is in tip top condition. She is balanced with a kind headset, dark eyes, domed head, strong neck and shoulders, and a level topline, good depth of body, good fore and hind quarters, correct tail carriage. Moved effortlessly, covering the ground well with a firm topline on the move, giving her the edge today.

2ND 4812 - Ch Alanea Holly Fern at Charnborough Sgwc (Mr T & Mrs M E Sherratt & Blackwell Sherratt)

A quality nearly 10 year old still holding the typical breed outline. A good headset, feminine domed skull, dark eyes and well set ears, muscular neck, Forelegs are straight with correct oval bone, good spring of rib with depth throughout, fair coat condition, correct tail. Good fore and hind angulation which allowed her to move freely with a good stride.
