NATIONAL WORKING AND PASTORAL BREEDS CH SHOW

11 JULY 2026

ST BERNARD

It was a very warm morning judging this lovely breed and i must say I felt all the dogs present coped very well.

After careful consideration i decided to not award the RDCC with the dogs i had. All had good breed points in places and were not terrible examples, but with a mixture of immaturity and depth of quality all through i felt they currently are not at Champion standard in my opinion. The class winners in the challenge accepted my decision and comments with courtesy and sportmanship.

PD 1(0)

1. Mokryk’s Hugo’s Naughty Neo at Bossbernards. Nicely proportioned dog, moderate bone and substance for his frame, square muzzle, slightly rounded skull, moderate stop, strong neck, neat elbows, still needs to develop in chest but he has a good lay of shoulder, ribs of fair length, firm top-line, muscled loin, slight slope to croup with tail of good length, holds his shape in profile, obviously still needs to strength up and down, good size teeth, nice condition, a promising puppy.

PGD 2(1)

1. Everton’s Coldlea Midnight Sapphire. Masculine dog, has substance all through with good bone, clean head, rounded skull, defined furrow, angular eye set level with bridge of the nose, nice drop of lip, teeth could be a little bit larger for ideal, he has straight forelegs, lovely bone, good feet, muscular neck, good depth of chest, ribs extend well back, moderate rear angulation with nice width behind on the move, correct tail set, steady mover, could have a fraction more leg length for ideal but he is in nice condition, steady mover in profile where he holds his shape.

LD 3(0)

3 dogs of different size and proportions.

1. Kimberley/Doherty’s Towerviewsaints Red Mist (imp IRE). Nicely headed dog, rounded skull, clean furrow between eyes, eyes could be a little bit darker for ideal, square muzzle and moderate drop of lip, ideally would like a little more width in chest but he has good bone, nice length of neck, correct leg length to body, ideally like little bit more strength in loin to him, moderate rear angulation, correct croup and tail, sound mover, just a little bit bum high on the move but has breed type to him.

2. Mokryk’s Streillys Hugo The Boss. Nicely balanced proportioned dog with good length of leg, clean head with correct slightly rounded skull, angular eye set well, level muzzle with abrupt stop, has some width in chest, like 1 has very good bone, ribs of fair length, a little over angulated in rear and prefer less slope to croup, steady mover, just not as fluent as 1, has nice balance and proportions on him though.

OD 3(0)

1. Deegan/Grainger’s Ch. Chandlimore Boys Night In. Lovely typy dog, excellent headpiece on him, not overdone but masculine, square level muzzle, good drop in lip, clean cheeks, slightly rounded skull, nice quality of bone, good substance, has some strength in his neck, I liked his length of leg, ribs of fair length, could be more rounded for ideal, chest to his elbow, strong rear quarters on him, low set hocks, lovely firm top-line which he holds on the move and lovely profile movement to him, in super condition, nice typy dog, DCC.

2. Forrest/Lucas’s Bernmont Sergeant at Philandros. Nicely headed dog, slightly rounded in skull, clean angular eye set level with nose, correct muzzle length to skull, slightly smaller frame than 1, has some strength to his neck, some width in chest, untidy in his front, preferred the front assembly of 1, level top-line, a little bit more compact in body than 1, moderate rear, clean outline, just prefer more extension on the move.

PB 2(0)

2 nice puppies, obviously immature and lots to do.

1. Booth’s Chandlimore Golden Girl with Beausaints. I liked her proportions, lovely feminine head, dark angular eye, not too loose, level muzzle, has slightly rounded skull, obviously still to develop in skull, nice drop of lip, good quality bone for her, needs to just tighten up in her pasterns, neat elbows, good leg length and correct proportions, ribs of fair length, in profile she is very free and holds her shape, nice type, will definitely improve with time, BP.

2. Edwards’ Cyronelle Forest Fern. Lovely headed bitch, slightly rounded skull, correct proportions of muzzle to skull, clear furrow between eyes, square muzzle, like 1 has good bone, nice spring of rib to her, moderate rear angulation, just preferred the front assembly on 1 but when she settles she is a nice mover, holds her shape, correct croup and tail, two nice puppies, could easily swap places in future.

JB 1(0)

1. Dowden’s Svanasjons Yarrow Field Blossom at Lunorvi. Lovely smooth bitch, really good proportions on her, abrupt stop.not overdone in head, clean eyes, has nice quality of lip, ears set well, nicely made front with nice width in chest, strong muscular neck, really liked her proportions of body and leg, ribs extend well back, moderate rear angulation, sound mover but not making it easy for her handler to flow on the move the whole way round.

LB 2(0)

1. Clarke’s Parleshan Ebony Rose (imp IRE). Typy bitch, lovely substance and strength to her all through, good skull, square muzzle, nice drop in lip, not overdone, clean cheeks and eyes, strong neck, nicely made front with good quality of bone and front nicely under her body, compact feet, lovely rounded ribs of fair length, firm top-line, I liked her rear quarters, strong hocks, easy on the go round, nice breed type, RBCC.
