Breed: Boston Terrier

CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 5TH September 2026

JUDGE : Graham Cruse (Australia)

I would like to thank all the exhibitors for their entry of 59 Bostons, and for the great sporting manner in which every exhibitor accepted my decisions. Although I have judged Boston Terriers in a number of Countries, this was my first time awarding CC’s to the breed in the UK and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day. I was delighted to watch the BOB winner make the shortlist in a very strong Utility Group as I cheered her on from ringside.

I always strive to find the positives when judging and reflect this in my critiques. However, I also believe in mentioning faults as well as virtues, this is usually depicted as what I would prefer to improve in a dog or what made me decide to place one dog above another.

Special Beginners Dog (1)

1. Bundy’s Dalenamag King of Clubs. 2 ½ year old brindle. He has a good square body and outline with a level topline and he moved ok. Head type is average and I would prefer a better earset.

Veteran Dog (3)

1. Harrison’s Ch. Eairycor Celtic Manxspirit. 9 year s old. He has a very good head & expression with great earset. He has good construction throughout and is well bodied with balance. Great attitude and character, very showy. Moved very well. I was delighted to hear he won the Best Veteran in Group… well done.

2. Rankin’s Ch. Wildax Schubert. Almost 9 years old. He has a very good square, compact outline. Stronger in head than the winner and I would prefer a slightly higher earset. He is not holding his age as well as the winner, starting to lose his body, condition and his movement.

Puppy Dog (4)

1. Whiskyagogo’s Victory Lap at Sonduriya. 10 months old very promising lovely puppy. Has a very good head type and alert expression. Great earset, very good mouth , dark expressive eyes which are well placed in the skull. He has a lovely clean, smart outline. Very good mover and maintains his shape nicely on the move. Impressed me enough to award him the Res DCC.

2. Roulston’s Ivyjewel Ocean King. Another very promising puppy. Great outline and level topline. He is quite unsure of the show surroundings at the moment. Front is loose at the moment, but naturally should tighten as he matures.

Junior Dog (2)

1. Grange’s Bosties Urban Outlaw. 1 year old small male. He has a good square profile. Body and outline are clean smooth, moved ok.

Post Graduate (1) absent

Limit Dog (7).

1. Mair’s Glenauld Texas Tom. 23 months old. He has a very good, masculine head & expression. Square skull with very well placed ears and alert expression. Body presents a square outline and a good level topline, with correct slight slope to the croup, correct set of tail. He maintains his shape and outline on the move.

2. Roulston’s Ivyjewel It Should of been me. 3 ½ years old. A very nice male with a very stylish shape and outline. Has some great attributes throughout, I just would prefer his eyes to be more forward set in the skull as they point outwards which spoils his expression.

3. Harris’ Kroni Mr Don Pedjony for Petarris (imp Serb).

Open Dog (9)

A quality class of males.

1. Keenan’s Ch. Chelmbull Return of the Mac at Nerros. 3 year old. Lovely male. Super head and expression. Very good earset and carriage. Presents a very smart clean outline and appearance. Moved very well with reach and drive. Pleased to award him the DCC.

2. Bennett’s Ch. Wildax Liverpool Lad at Boxbos. 6 years old. Another lovely male, slightly stronger head than the winner but still has type and quality, great outline and very good mover.

3. Ch. Ivyjewel Put a light on me.

Good Citizen Dog (1)

1. Valbrown’s Not for sale for Rintintina (Imp Hung).

5th in Limit Dog. The handler disappeared before I was able to write a critique.

Puppy Bitch (5)

1. Rostron-Parker’s Rosparquier Never Too late. Very promising 9 months old, lovely bitch. Has a feminine head & expression, super square compact body with great outline & style. Balanced throughout and moved very well.

2. Wildman’s Wildax Rowendale Beryl the peril. 9 months old, has great type, with good head & expression. Moved very well, good shape has a super body but I would prefer her slightly shorter in back to square her up.

3. Sandell’s Born to Rise de Yu box avec Shawmut.

Junior Bitch (9)

Two very lovely bitches, I am sure these two will be in the top awards regularly in the future.

1. Roulston’s Ivyjewel To love you more. 15 months old, super type with very good head & expression. Squarely built body with short back. Clean, smart outline. Very good mover.

2. Rankin & Hickin’s Wildax Liver Bird. Another very lovely bitch, has a good head & expression, great outline with excellent topline, moved smart and true.

3. Gallagher’s Vickvally Ruby Aura.

Graduate Bitch (1) Absent

Post Graduate Bitch (3)

1. Gill’s Demorace Belle Starr at Simberfour. 20 months old. She has square skull with very good head and expression. Well placed ears. Compact body throughout with level topline and good set on of tail. Carries herself very well on the move.

2. Batey’s Bronheim Maiden Issue. She has a very nice head & expression. She is well bodied, but longer in back than the winner. I would prefer her not to lift her front as much on the move.

  Limit Bitch (6)

1. Roulston’s Ivyjewel Let you love me. 19 months old. She has an excellent head and expression with a super earset. Lovely clean, stylish outline. Beautifully marked. Moved very well style & grace.

2. Moscicka’s Crème de la Crème Alikana (imp Pol). I loved this bitches movement in profile. She has a super outline, carries herself beautifully on the move. She has a great body with a level topline which she retains constantly. I would just prefer her to have a higher earset.

3. Monk’s Olearia Westfalen Real Gold

Open Bitch (10)

What a wonderful class of quality bitches to judge, thank you.

1. Roulston’s Ch. Ivyjewel Cast a Spell JW. Absolutely beautiful bitch throughout. 19 months old, very good head type, super bite, correct earset, great dark eyes, which are well placed in the skull and has a super alert expression. Squarely built with good topline and correct tailset. Smart and stylish on the move, she carries herself very well. Pleased to award her the BCC & BOB. Very happy to see her shortlisted in a wonderfully strong quality Utility Group.

2. Collin’s Ch. Wildax Sophistication. 2 years old. Another really lovely bitch, very good head, super smart outline, squarely built, great topline and tailset. Well marked, moved well with reach, drive and style. Res BCC.

3. Wildman’s Ch. Wildax Rowendale Krispy Kreme.
