Belfast Dog Show Society

Breed: Gundog Group

I would like to thank the Belfast Dog Show Society for inviting me to judge at their well-organized show. It is always the greatest pleasure to judge Gundogs in the country of origin.

Thank you also to the exhibitors for entering lovely dogs under me and for accepting my decisions so sportingly.

Having the honour to judge, my 2nd Gundog Group in the UK was certainly a highlight and I will cherish the moment for a long time.

I was spoilt for choices in the strong group and I shortlisted the English setter and the Gordon setter, the Irish setter, the Pointer, Weimaraner, the English Cocker Spaniel, the Sussex and the Barbet

Group Results: Gundog Group

G1 633 - Sh Ch/am Grchs/can Ch Fenwyck's Glamour, Breed: Gordon Setter (Mrs S. & Dr M. Patterson)

The Gordon Setter, who was my ultimate winner, could not be denied the top spot and my eyes were drawn to her like a magnet for her overall balance, outline and movement. She has the most beautiful head and expression, lovely neck blending smoothly into the withers, plenty of heartroom and the best of toplines. As her construction suggested she moved out with reach and drive. Shown in grand coat and condition and piloted to perfection.

G2 716 - Sh Ch Sharnphilly Boondoggle JW, Breed: Pointer (Miss Oddie)

The second place went to the majestic pointer with his graceful curves and gorgeous head, correct substance and angulations and his free-flowing driving movement

G3 1026 - Sh Ch Gunalt The Hangover JW, Breed: Weimaraner (Miss E Charlish)

Third place to the substantial Weimaraner with aristocratic head, powerful but still elegant outline and effortless movement and so well presented

G4 994 - Sh Ch Glantraeth Ovation to Oktumi, Breed: Spaniel (Cocker) (Mr M K Wildman)

Fourth was the Cocker Spaniel with a most beautiful head and expression, correct overall make and shape exuding type and character, short deep body, covering plenty of ground with merry tail.
