I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this lovely show. I was delighted to have a generously sized ring, allowing the dogs to stride out freely on the move. My sincere thanks go to all the exhibitors who presented their dogs to me, particularly after a long and very warm day at yesterday’s championship show. I was extremely pleased with the overall quality of the dogs brought before me.

1ST 128 - Quiet Creek’s Limelight at Millvery for Marksbury (Imp Usa) (Mrs T J & Mr C & Mr K Howie & Avery & Miller)

Super 13 month old liver & tan dog who looked a picture of strength, and standing over plenty of ground with lovely balance. Noble, narrow head of good length and depth, his long supple ears framing his face. Good length of neck leading to a well filled forechest, and he stands on strong, round boned limbs. Well developed in body with a firm topline and a well carried tail. On the move he demonstrated the desired elastic gait, holding his outline in profile, true fore and aft. BOB

Very close decisions in this class, all had commendable attributes

1ST 131 - Farlap Kaleb (Mrs S & Mr S Westron)

A very sound 2 year old black & tan dog who showed himself off to advantage. A workmanlike, fit dog with a little more length of leg, so not quite the overall balance in outline of 2nd, but I preferred his movement on the day. Noble, handsome headpiece with parallel planes, lovely dark oval eyes, low set ears of good length and large open nostrils. Strong neck, and deep in brisket with a well sprung ribcage. Lovely bone and tight feet. Another who was sound and free on the move, maintaining a well carried stern. RBOB

2ND 126 - Farlap Kashmir (Mrs J Adshead)

Another cracking hound and litter brother to the winner. I liked his overall size and balance when stood. Masculine head, narrow, long and proportionate, with good eye shape and colour, and long, thin ears giving a dignified expression. Good depth and length to the body, with a firm topline and good tail carriage. Strong round bone and well arched toes. Today he was not quite as tidy behind on the move, but he showed a lovely flowing side gait while holding his outline.

1ST 393 - Jolihem Truly Scrumptious (Miss H & Mr A Picton & Ince)

Delightful and characterful 7 month old bitch, showing good overall balance and keen, alert attention to her handler. Her head is maturing nicely, with good width to the backskull and feminine strength in the muzzle. Neck of good length flowing into a well held topline. Chest down to the elbow, and she stands on well boned limbs with super tight feet. Moving out with good width behind and parallel, still a little loose in front at present, but she shows drive in profile while holding her outline. BP

1ST 388 - Colkeririn Whole Nine Yards (Mr M & Mrs C Meech)

Strong and upstanding 17 month old dog, very much a typical teenage boy and a bit of a handful today. When he settles, he presents a pleasing outline. Balanced head with a flat skull, round toning eyes with dark pigmentation, and fairly high set ears, to give a pleasing expression. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline and good tail set. Muscular hindquarters combined with a good bend of stifle. A little distracted on the move today, but a quality dog

1ST 381 - Kinabula's Making Magick for Faahac JW (Mrs C L & Miss M L Catharell)

Upstanding and dignified 2 year old dog who presents himself with lovely body lines and strength, with nothing overdone. I liked his head, it is handsome and balanced, with a dark round eye and well placed ears. Well developed through the body, with depth to the brisket and showing good ridge and crowns. He has a flowing gait in profile and is clean in both front and rear action.

2ND 398 - Kinabula's Beat of My Heart (Miss I Scanlon)

Happy and outgoing 2 year old wheaten bitch and litter sister to the winner. Feminine throughout, with much to admire. She has feminine strength combined with good muscle tone. Pretty head with a flat skull, dark round eye carrying a hint of mischief, and well placed ears. Good length of neck leading to a firm topline and well carried tail. Strong, wide quarters which she put to good use, driving around the ring with enthusiasm.

1ST 385 - Suhuba Dream Star Sulli (Mr G P & Mrs V J Henshall)

Impressive 4 year old red wheaten dog, upstanding with real presence. I liked him for his overall size, substance and masculinity. He presents a pleasing outline on the stack, showing strength and balance without anything overdone. Good width to the skull and strength in the foreface, with keen dark round eyes and well placed ears framing his face. Neck of good length flowing seamlessly into a well held topline, with lovely depth and fill of forechest. Standing on well boned limbs and tight feet. Ribs nicely sprung to a strong, muscular loin. Positive and clean on the move, with good drive from the rear. Such a close decision for the top awards. RBOB

2ND 380 - Asharaa's Perfect Match with Faahac JW (Mrs C L & Miss M L Catharell)

4 year old liver nose dog with a lovely flowing outline, masculine and muscular. Nicely balanced head, showing a flat skull, the right amount of stop, and strength in the muzzle. Clean neck of good length, not quite the forechest of the winner, but with good depth to the brisket. Well boned legs and tight feet. Holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. I liked his hindquarters, with well bent stifles and hocks squarely set to the ground. Moving well, though today just a shade closer behind.

1ST 396 - Jimanns Hell On Heels ShCEx (Mrs J & Mr I Ritchie)

Beautiful 3 year old red wheaten bitch, showing such unexaggerated symmetry, and the more I looked, the more I liked her. She has the desired substance and bone yet carries an elegant flow throughout. Quality head with a flat skull, well proportioned to the muzzle, and her dark eyes give a gentle, feminine expression. Her neck flows seamlessly into a firm topline and well set, well carried tail. Throughout the body she is well developed, deep in brisket with a well filled forechest. Lovely clean, straight, well boned forelegs onto tight feet. Ribs have the right amount of spring and carry a good ridge and crowns. It is on the move where she excelled, with free, powerful strides as she simply glided around the ring. BOB
