Firstly, I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for the invitation to Judge at one of my favourite venues. We began with the bitches so as not to clash with the main show and due to the hard work of my two Stewards Geraldine O’Driscoll & Sue Langford I do believe no any classes were missed and I was more than happy to wait for late comers.

We had a fantastic ring just away from the bustle of the main show it was large enough to really get the dogs moving and more importantly it gave me the opportunity to watch them in profile. On that subject it was lovely to see so many moving freely. I would urge you to really practice with your pups to get them running on a loose lead in order to display their uninhibited reach & drive as Pointers are a galloping breed this is as close as we can get in a ring.

All the dogs were new to me as were many of the bitches and I certainly wasn’t disappointed with the overall quality. Certainly, in dogs there were five who I would have happily awarded top honours with many promising youngers waiting in the wings.

 As a general observation please when standing them do not pull their heads straight up – in a giraffe stance – it does nothing to lengthen the neck; all this succeeds in doing is to make their shoulders and pasterns appear upright and it is not a normal stance or head carriage for a Pointer; when the neck should be slightly arched. Also please watch the feet – we want oval with arched toes.

VD (1,0) 1 Philo’s Fydal Caprio at Salmonmist JW ShCM OSW ShCEx VW. Although standing alone he absolutely deserved his first place. A dog who can really move, is balanced and has an excellent tail carriage. In excellent muscular condition which defies his age.

MPD (1,0) 1 Miss M & Mr R Saunders & Newton’s Teisgol Snow Prince Charmin at 6 months is a total baby but has so much potential he has a lovely head and neck, short coupled & nicely balanced – the handler really needs to practice with this lad on the move – as he has a lovely stride and carriage when he gets moving properly. BP

PD (4,0) 1 Miss M & Mr R Saunders & Newton’s Teisgol Snow Prince Charmin 2 Mrs R Mason’s Freebreeze Noel Coward pushed the first hard but on the day was just lacking the finish of 1. He is a promising pup who I will look forward to seeing how he develops as he matures. Balanced head with correct expression and was moving very well. 3 Mr C, Mrs J & Miss M Oliver Wilchrimane Florin to Olivesong 

JD (3,0) 1 Miss K Scotland Daledancer Victor Mcdade another very promising o/w youngster, great topline which he holds on the move where he has good reach & drive. Balanced head with the darkest of eye. Certainly, one for the future when he has that extra maturity. 2 Miss M & Mr R Saunders & Newton Corotine Velvet Tuxedo balanced b/w again has excellent reach & drive on the move just not quite the topline of first. He has a lovely head & neck and correct depth of chest. 3 Miss Dr E Bardossy Shadybrook Saregresi Laced White Night 

YD (3,1) 1 Mrs S.e & Mrs S. Booth & Oddie Lundgarth Fly The Flag JW Pleasing young dog who was not settled standing but moved very well with the correct tail set and action. Has a lovely muscular neck and soft expression would just prefer a little more length to the foreface to balance his head. 2 Udale’s Dowbiggins Bruno b/w dog with a balanced head & good neck, today he was lacking drive on the move which really let him down & decided to give his handler a hard time standing him.

MD (3,1) 1 Miss M & Mr R Saunders & Newton Corotine Velvet Tuxedo 2 Miss L & Miss S & Miss H Mair & Mair & Mccready Sharnphilly Coppernob at Glenauld quite a mature lem/w boy, muscular neck with a balanced head unfortunately he had decided that today wasn’t for moving and was arching his topline.

ND (2,0) 1 Miss M & Mr R Saunders & Newton Corotine Velvet Tuxedo 2 Mr C, Mrs J & Miss M Oliver

 Wilchrimane Florin to Olivesong today he was unfortunately up against a more mature dog. He is very nicely balanced but was just not giving everything on the move. He holds a good topline with a very good tail set.

GD (3,1) 1 Miss K Scotland Daledancer Victor Mcdade 2 Miss M & Mr R Saunders & Newton

 Teisgol Calendula JW Another youngster with lots to like just out paced by the first on the move. Lovely expression with a nice dark eye. He also had a neat correctly carried tail.

PGD (3,0) 1 17 - Mrs C & Mr K Bush’s Piasharn Rocka Rolla. This is not a flashy dog but wow everything just fits together perfectly absolutely symmetrical and well built. His long sloping shoulders were topped by a muscular neck. He is short coupled with an excellent spring of rib. He is powered by well-muscled hindquarters. With such lovely construction he is able to produce wonderful drive and reach on the move. CC & BIS 2 Mrs S & Mr V Black Raigmore Defender of Faith this o/w pushed the winner hard and was in serious contention for the Res CC another beautifully balanced dog who is not over done in any way. He has a lovely head and expression. He was sympathetically & well-handled to really bring out his best on the move. 3 Miss A Bell Brent Deville's Advocate at Owlspoint (ai)

LD (7,1) 1 Ms L & Mrs G Hall & Sarrou Gartarry New Kid in Town Mature dog with a fabulous head and expression. It was lovely to watch him on the move as he really covered the ground. Again, a short coupled balanced dog who has so many positive attributes; was definitely considered in the challenge. 2 Mrs G Marsh’s Alozia Zealandia for Ratchda JW very nicely balanced liv/w short coupled with an excellent neck. He has a balanced head with a kind expression. Today he was beaten by the first on the move. 3 Mrs G J & Mr N A Sweeney Joneva Just Imagine JW 

OD (5,2) 1 Ms W Gordon Davigdor Flanders Field a really cracking o/w dog who is beautifully balanced with an excellent spring of rib and long sloping shoulders he has a lovely head, but would benefit from a little more lip to complete the picture. He was definitely in the final shake up for top honours but today as he had left his best suit at home, he was lacking that finishing polish. 2 Miss M E, Mr P R & Mrs D E Oliver & Stilgoe Sh Ch Teisgol Love Is in The Air ShCEx o/w who was very close up to the winner. He is another balanced dog who moved well, he also has a good spring of rib and muscular hindquarters. 3 Ms S R Philo Sunhouse Black Is Back at Salmonmist JW ShCEx OSW (ai) 

SWGD (1,0) 1 Mrs G J & Mr N A Sweeney Ger Ch Lundgarth Wild Yarrow Sgwc I really liked this b/w dog who totally fits the standard he is not overdone, a strong dog who certainly has a series of graceful curves but absolutely beautifully balanced & shown in fantastic muscular condition one of the best fronts of the day with long well laid shoulders and slightly sloping pasterns. As you can imagine with his build and muscle tone, he could really cover the ground on the move. RCC

SBD (2,0) 1 Mrs K Morrison Raigmore Greatest Day I really liked this b/w dog who again is so balanced good spring of rib and deep chest; he has the most beautiful head unfortunately today his movement really let him down which is such a pity. 2 Mrs J Baker’s Mattiboo Bohemian Rhapsody lem/w dog who moved really today he has a lovely neck and head, sloping pasterns and a good top line he just didn’t have the depth of chest of the first.

VB (5,2) 1 Mrs R Mason’s Morgan Van Freebreeze (Imp Nld) ShCEx This o/w still gives her handler a really hard time when she is standing but she is a great mover. She is certainly a series of graceful curves but strongly built with a lovely long neck. BV 2 Mr J & Mrs P Tibbs Raigmore Worth The Wait another lovely orange girl who today wasn’t moving as well as first. She has a good turn of stifle and a muscular thigh and well let down hock. I preferred her head to the first as she has a lovely soft expression. 3 Mr R & Mrs L Jamieson

MPB (3,0) 1 Miss A E Scales Riowood Cherry On Top of Saloplass nicely balanced o/w pup she has a lovely topline on the move complimented by a neat tail. Lovely neck & long sloping shoulder. Would have preferred better feet and pasterns which were just a little upright at the moment. However, her overall balance secured her BPB. 2 Miss H & Mrs C A Edmondson & Robertshaw Crookrise Ida b/w an absolutely raw baby who has lots of potential but also needs to do a lot maturing. Correct bend of stifle, well placed shoulders and a great length of neck. She thoroughly enjoyed moving which turned out to be slightly erratic, she had settled by the Puppy class. 3 Mrs A Udale Crookrise Tilly 

PB (4,2) 1 Miss H & Mrs C A Edmondson & Robertshaw Crookrise Ida 2 Mr N J & Mrs K M Macmanus Freebreeze Gertrude Stein at Luneville a more mature b/w than first but at this stage she did not have the overall balance. She has a lovely head with correct medium length ears well laid shoulders with correct feet and sloping pasterns.

JB (4,0) 1 Mrs A Smith El Fydal del Winepoint Natyave Grove (Imp Cze) I really liked this young totally honest b/w bitch she is unexaggerated but everything is balanced and fits together perfectly; she is so positive on the move with lovely correctly carried tail. 2 Ms W Gordon’s Hawkfield Bewitched today she was very immature compared to the first, however she has lots of potential for the future; when she grows into her balanced frame. She has the shoulders and bend of stifle that produced lovely reach & drive on the move. 3 Miss L Collins Millpoint Spread Your Wings over Vabisbrae 

YB (5,0) 1 Mrs S J Anderson Rowell Daledancer Frances Mullen mature short coupled b/w bitch with a good spring of rib, arched loins she has a lovely balanced head with the correct kind expression & on the day out moved the rest of the class. 2 Mr J & Mrs P Tibbs Raigmore Titania there is so much to like about this b/w bitch but gosh did she give her handler a hard time standing & on the move. Slightly longer cast than the winner she also has an excellent spring of rib. A balanced head with good soft lip. 3 Mrs L J Barham Droveborough Witchy Woman JW 

MB (3,2) 1 Bush’s Piasharn Anne Bonny This young liv/w bitch still has a lot of maturing to do, she moved much better in this class than the previous one, great length of neck springing from sloping shoulders.

NB (4,1) 1 Mrs A Smith El Fydal del Winepoint Natyave Grove (Imp Cze) 2 Gordons Hawkfield Black Comedy

b/w who is slightly longer cast than the winner but she is also balanced with an excellent front with the depth of brisket and the width for plenty of heart room, correct medium tail which she used on the move. 3 Bush’s Piasharn Anne Bonny

GB (6,0) 1 Miss H & Mrs C A Edmondson & Robertshaw Crookrise Sunbeam A liv/w who really appealed to me – she just screams Pointer at you. Not the biggest bitch but beautifully put together and she moved with all the reach & drive you could wish for. She was definitely in the running for top honours. 2 Ms L & Mrs G Hall & Sarrou

 Wilchrimane Sorbet Into Gartarry this o/w has a lovely head. Correct oval fee with arched toes. She is slightly longer cast and unfortunately today was out moved by the first. 3 Mrs J Gregson-Keirby Joneva Just A Dream

PGB (4,0) 1 Bush’s Piasharn Breaking The Law headed a class of lovely bitches and had to fight the second every inch of the way. She is very feminine but still has that required strength of build. Absolutely symmetrical and as the standard says a series of graceful curves, she totally fills the eye. She moved with an easy smooth stride until the final run in the challenge when she threw the towel in; however, I had by that time seen enough to award her the RCC. 2 Mrs S J Anderson Rowell Wilchrimane Silent Sonnet at Daledancer another lovely bitch who is also symmetrical producing that lovely balanced picture, she was shown with great muscle tone and has lovely reach & drive on the move which you would expect from her fantastic front. Something I don’t often say – but felt she would have just benefitted from a couple of extra pounds to complete the picture today. 3 Ms L & Mrs G Hall & Sarrou Gartarry Sassudio 

LB (11,3) 1 Prof D N Brigden Braithwaite Quora Headed a class of beautiful bitches. This o/w is elegant, feminine and is certainly a series of graceful curves. Her lovely sloping shoulders are balanced by a well-turned stifle meaning she can produce the smooth reach & drive when moving, maintaining a level topline which was finished by level lashing tail. To complete the picture, she has a fantastic head with pronounced stop with the darkest of eyes. CC & Res BIS 2 Mrs M & Mrs C & Mrs L Gerrard & Bell & Galloway Riowood C'mon It's Time for Carmandine JW One who I liked as a puppy and she has fulfilled her early promise. A smaller bitch than the first but still has that femineity and balance I was looking for. She has a good expanse of thigh and well let down hocks with correct oval feet, I feel that there is more to come with this young girl. 3 Mrs A & Miss A & Mrs H Siddle & Siddle & Medeiros Wilchrimane Piri Piri TAF 

OB (4,1) 1 Mrs B Wilkinson’s Ferndel Sapphire Mist over Stocksfell There is lots to like about this mature b/w she has lovely well laid-back sloping shoulders springing into a long muscular neck. Today I felt she just didn’t get into her stride on the move. 2 Mrs J Radcliffe Sh Ch Sniperay Edge of Glory JW another mature o/w girl with the best of fronts, well-turned stifle and good width of thigh. Another I felt just let herself down on the move.

SWGB (3,0) 1 Mrs J M Blowers Fowington Lar Ti Dar at Deadaway Sgwc this o/w was shown in beautiful condition. She is strongly built but feminine perfectly balanced with a lovely topline that she maintains on the move. Considered for top honours. 2 Mrs S J Anderson Rowell Raigmore Limelight at Daledancer this o/w was very similar to one in make & shape. Another bitch shown in lovely condition, not overdone in any way, beautifully balanced with excellent length of muscular neck. On the day I just preferred the depth of thigh and turn of stifle of the first. 3 Mrs A Smith Isla Rose by Fydal Sgwc

SBB (5,1) 1 Mrs L J Barham Droveborough Witchy Woman JW a very attractive young liv/w who is coming to full maturity. She has the nicest of heads with pronounced stop and the softest expression. Good spring of rib and well let down brisket. 2 Miss L Collins Millpoint Spread Your Wings over Vabisbrae at 14 months she really needs some extra time to fully mature she has a good frame which just needs to fill out. She moved well. 3 Miss L Collins Raigmore Hermia of Vabisbrae.
