My thanks to everyone who entered under me today and to the societies through whose votes I was given this appointment. It is always a privilege to judge this wonderful breed. I felt the ground conditions played a substantial part in the placings today. The surface was very hard, dry and slippery and accordingly a number of dogs I admired did not move as well as I would normally expect. There was quality throughout the entry and some close decisions.

1ST 1741 - Sh Ch Kalimor Hudson (Miss D Kerr)
A lovely class of three quality veterans, all 7 years of age and with very little between them.
1st presents a pleasing outline with the correct proportions of length to height. Appeals in head with balanced skull and muzzle, amber eye, ears with the desired fold, good pigment and sufficient depth to flew. Would prefer a little more stop if being critical. Clean through neck and shoulders with well laid shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm. Good depth to chest, ribs carried back to a short loin and moderate tuck up. Held his topline standing and moving. Well muscled first and second thighs with correct bend of stifle and short hocks. Neat feet. The most accurate mover in the class both on the out and back and in profile which secured the class.
2ND 1765 - Int/nld/cze/lux/ger/bel Ch Pride of Whitecross Du Tango Des Neiges Éternelles Nld Ych Ww21/23 (Mrs V G Torenstra)
Longhaired male who is also balanced in profile and of good breed type, although showing his age a little more than the winner. Correct length of coat with appropriate feathering. Good through head, neck and shoulders. Strong through topline with good tail set and carriage. Not quite the underline of first having almost lost the slight tuck up. Good width and muscle to thighs although hocks not as strong as the winner. Moved out well and covered the ground with ease.

1ST 1749 - Weipowa License to Spy (Mr G Mercuri)
17 month old youngster who presented the most balanced outline in the class with the desired proportions. Appealing head, moderate neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Good depth to chest with ribs carried well back to a short loin. Level topline with correct underline and tail set. Balanced throughout and moved more accurately than the second placed dog. Maintained his outline standing and on the move.
2ND 1732 - Theondale Hopeful Heart JW (Mrs D Dobbs)
Another nice youngster of the same age with much to like but unable to match the movement and overall balance of the winner. Correct head properties, although a little more length of neck than ideal. Good depth to chest with well sprung ribs but slightly long in loin. Good underline. A touch over angulated behind and not as accurate on the move as first.

1ST 1742 - Sabsky Karlstejn (Mr J R & Mrs D J Kerslake)
17 month old male, somewhat similar in type to the second placed Junior being a shade longer cast and having a little more rear angulation than ideal, although still immature. Full of enthusiasm today which made him difficult to assess on the move. Pleasing head, good neck length and sound shoulder placement. Moderate forechest with good legs and feet. Held his topline well and carried his tail correctly. Still immature and needs time to settle and mature physically and mentally.

1ST 1750 - Weipowa Shaken Not Stirred to Britmans (Ms J Pearman)
3rd in Junior. Much more relaxed and settled in this class and moved more consistently, allowing a more accurate assessment than was possible in Junior. Moderate forechest, good depth and width to chest, sound legs and feet and a level topline. Covered the ground well and made a pleasing picture.

1ST 1758 - Braefell Blackthorn JW (Mr M A & Miss D L Sayer & Wallwork)
3 year old male that I have admired before. All male and very balanced throughout. Appeals in head with good proportions of skull and muzzle, sufficient stop and depth to flew, correctly set ears with the desired fold, good pigment and a keen expression. Well muscled neck with slight arch flowing into a firm topline and correct tailset. Moderate forechest with brisket to elbow. Well laid shoulders and good length of upper arm placing forelegs correctly beneath him. Good ribbing extending back to a short loin and a correct underline. Well muscled first and second thighs with short strong hocks. Presented in excellent condition. Moved well in profile and was true coming towards. Unfortunately he was wide behind moving away today which prevented him challenging more strongly for the CC.
2ND 1746 - Meinweg Autumnal Frost Aw(s) (Ms B J Martinez)
6 year old male who presents a pleasing profile and good overall balance. Correct through head, neck and shoulders. Good topline, ribbing and loin, although tail set a little low. Balanced angulation fore and aft. Not carrying the muscle tone of the winner and not in his best jacket today. Usually a more positive mover than he showed today and did not stride out as freely as expected.

1ST 1751 - Sh Ch Rivertone Retrograde (Mr L Phillips)
3 year old male that I have admired previously. Presents a balanced outline, correct height to length, with everything in proportion. Appeals in his classic head and expression with correct amber eye and aristocratic appearance. Well muscled neck of moderate length, good forechest and excellent depth and width to chest. Well boned throughout with neat feet. Strong topline and underline with moderate tuck up, short loin and balanced angulation front and rear. Excellent width and development to first and second thighs. Moved out well, covering the ground with ease, with a good side gait. A quality dog. Not making life easy for his handler on the move today and this ultimately cost him Best of Breed.
2ND 1735 - Sh Ch/ir Sh Ch Weipowa Double O’seven JW (Miss C Hill)
More substantial male throughout yet still balanced and in no way coarse. Appeals in head with good balance of skull and foreface, correct stop and ears of correct length with the desired fold. Powerful neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Good length of upper arm and balanced angulation placing the forelegs correctly beneath him. Moderate forechest with brisket to elbow, ribs carried well back and correct underline. Well muscled hindquarters with angulation to match the forehand and short hocks. Did not show to his best advantage on the initial go round and I initially questioned his soundness, however on individual assessment he moved truly with good reach and drive.

1ST 1753 - Nld Ch Phoebe Du Tango Des Neiges Eternelles avec Whitecross (Imp Fra) W'24 (Mr T & Mrs G C Read)
Longhaired lady and the oldest in the class, although showing little sign of her years. Presents a pleasing outline with correct coat and feathering. Appeals in her classic head with well placed amber eyes and ears with fold, and typical expression. Balanced skull and foreface, good flew and correct pigment to nose and eye rims. Good through neck and shoulders with brisket to elbow, correct underline and a well held topline. Ribs carried well back to a short loin. Balanced angulation fore and aft with short hocks. Moved out steadily and true.
2ND 1766 - Sh Ch Gunalt Lustrous with Roydack ShCEx VW (Mrs S & Miss H Upton-Lovett & Upton)
Good balanced profile. Appeals in head and is correct through neck and shoulders into a level topline. Moderate forechest with good depth to chest, ribs carried back to short couplings and well turned stifles. Unfortunately today she was not moving at her best, pulling up short and therefore not displaying the reach and drive of the winner.

1ST 1768 - Gunalt Reverence (Mr C & Mrs J West)
Almost 8 months. Appealing youngster who is rather rangy at present. Balanced in outline. Head developing nicely. Showing a little forechest, clean through neck and shoulders. Good depth to chest with sufficient spring of rib and a good underline. A little east west in front at present, although I would expect this to improve as she develops in body. Holds her topline well. Moderate angulation throughout with well let down hocks. Moved steadily once settled.
2ND 1740 - Brownbank Florentine (Miss D Kerr)
6 months old today. Different in type to the winner, being shorter on the leg and heavier in body. Clean through head and neck. Carrying a little excess weight over the shoulders at present, although she is still very much a baby. Well boned legs with neat feet. Brisket currently below the elbow, although I would expect this to even out as she matures. Good angulation, well set tail and moved out well.

1ST 1739 - Theondale High Hopes JW (Mrs T A Hostler)
16 month old bitch built on a slightly larger frame whilst retaining balance. Appeals in head with correct eye, ear, flew and pigment. Correct forehand assembly with well boned legs and neat feet. Brisket to elbow, ribs carried well back to a short loin and a correct underline. Holds her topline well and has a well set tail. Perhaps a little over angulated behind which was reflected in her movement. Moved soundly enough to secure the class.
2ND 1761 - Silberliss Diamond Cut (Mrs M Suett)
Very different type to the winner she was 3rd in Puppy and is almost 12 months old. Still developing and currently a little shorter on the leg than preferred which affects her overall balance at present. Appeals in head with a good neck. Heavy in front at present with brisket below the elbow. Angulation does not match fore and aft resulting in over reaching on the move and preventing her displaying the typical movement desired in the breed. Hopefully these points will improve as she matures and develops.

1ST 1752 - Enjager Elegance for Brownbank JW (Mrs C & Mrs S Rayner & Maskell)
2 year old bitch who is already very mature. Presents a balanced outline with correct proportions and flowing lines. Appeals in her classic head with well set ears and good depth to flew. Clean through neck and shoulders with moderate forechest. Brisket to elbow with ribs carried well back to a short strong loin and moderate tuck up. Good muscle and width to first and second thighs with rear angulation matching the forehand. Short strong hocks. Moved out positively holding a firm topline.
2ND 1737 - Weipowa License to Thrill (Dr R S & Mrs G L Hillen)
17 month old bitch of a finer build who still has maturing to do. Still needing further depth of body to complete her overall balance. Clean through head and neck into shoulders. Held her topline on the move and has balanced angulation fore and aft. Not as positive on the move as the winner today, seemed a little out of sorts and lacked drive.

1ST 1756 - Stormdancer Goo Goo Doll (Ms S & Miss D Rowbury & Tranquada)
16 month old bitch who presents a lovely profile. Appeals in head with good eye, ear, flew and pigment. Flows through neck and shoulders into a level topline and correct tailset, maintaining her outline on the move. Moderate forechest with well laid shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm. Good depth and width to chest with ribs carried well back to a firm short loin. Rear angulation matches the forehand and she is well muscled throughout with short hocks. Excellent side gait and moved well coming towards. Unfortunately rather untidy behind today which prevented her being considered for higher honours.
2ND 1760 - Weipowa Wild Flush for Ashstern (Mrs J M, Mr P C & Miss R I Spavins & Chevalier)
2 ½ year old bitch of a finer build. Not the same balance in head as the winner, being shorter in foreface. Could be cleaner through neck and shoulders. Good depth to chest with ribs carried back to a firm loin. A more pronounced tuck up than first. Moderate turn of stifle. Held her topline well, carried her tail correctly and moved cleanly.

1ST 1728 - Gunalt Gift of The Gab JW ShCEx OSW (Mr J & Mrs C Anderson)
A very balanced and moderate bitch throughout, displaying the athletic and aristocratic appearance called for. Appeals in head with correct depth to flew and well set ears with the desired fold. Clean neck with slight arch flowing into well laid shoulders. Good return of upper arm placing the forelegs correctly beneath her. Moderate forechest with brisket to elbow and well sprung ribs carried well back to a strong loin with slight tuck up. Good muscle and width to first and second thighs with short hocks and neat feet. Moved out on a steady, true gait, holding her outline and carrying her tail correctly. A strong contender for higher honours.
2ND 1759 - Braefell Briar JW (Mr M A & Miss D L Sayer & Wallwork)
A nice girl that I have judged previously as a youngster. Typical in outline although not quite the head of first. Strength to neck which is of good length and sets well into laid back shoulder. Correct upper arm so legs placed well under her. Depth to chest and spring of ribs going back to a short loin, moderate tuck to underline. Strong topline held level stacked and moving. Power to rear which she used well driving from short hocks, good side gait, a shade wide coming towards.

1ST 1729 - Sh Ch Weipowa Severine (Miss A Balch)
Typical bitch whose classic outline displays the correct balance of power and substance whilst retaining femininity. Appeals in head with lovely amber eye, well carried ears with fold, correct depth to flew and good pigment to nose and eye rims. Prominent occiput and slightly arched neck flowing smoothly though shoulders topline and tailset. In superb condition with her depth of chest, width between forelegs, sprung ribs carried well back, and moderate tuck up to underline. Beautifully muscled rear with width to first and second thighs, correct angulation fore and aft, well boned legs and neat feet. Moved effortlessly with reach, drive, precision and finesse maintaining her topline and at one with her handler. She fully deserved the CC and BOB today. Thank you for bringing her.
2ND 1769 - Sh Ch Gunalt Wavelength JW ShCEx OSW (Mr C & Mrs J West)
Another really lovely bitch that I have judged as a youngster and she has matured into the complete picture. Almost 6 years and put up a hard fight for the CC but the younger bitch just had the edge today. Classic head and expression, clean through neck, excellent forehand, ribbed well back, moderate tuck, rear angulation to match fore, short hocks, well set and carried tail. Moved out with reach and drive, just couldn’t quite match the condition of first, but well deserving of the RCC today.
