Shetland Sheepdog
I would like to thank the committee to invite me to this well-run show. I would also like to thank my stewards who keep the ring run smoothly. I really enjoyed my day and the atmosphere around the ring was good. Overall, the quality in shelties was a bit mixed: in general most dogs had good proportions, and most had good temperaments. However, many were up to size and too strong in my eyes, especially in males, and I think we must be careful about this in the breed. I was very pleased to see my main winners do so well in the mainring by winning RBIS, BPIS, BJIS and BVIS.
PD (7,1)
1st Pearson’s Edglonian Flash Gorden: 7 months old, very eye-catching puppy with a lovely head for his age, ears are on top and he has a very nice expression. Excellent proportions, neck and outline. Moves typical for his age. Showing non-stop.
2nd Fisher’s Shellamoyed Secret Blend: 8 months old, excellent proportions, excellent eyes and ears, well angulated but he could be a little stronger in his movement. Maybe he could be in a little harder condition. He is spot on for size. Excellent coat and temperament.
JD (5,1)
1st Walker’s Cuilshelties Touch Of Class with Grandgenes: 10 months old, very sound dog with good proportions. Head is of correct length, lovely rounded muzzle and good underjaw. I hope he will not be much stronger in his head. Excellent bone and feet. Very sound movement: it was so easy for him to walk around the ring. Excellent coat and colour and super temperament. Congratulations on winning Best Puppy In Show. RCC, BP, BPIS
2nd Keeling’s Kishdigra The Love God RAF: Excellent type and proportions, lovely eyes, he needs to fill out in his foreface, and he could have a touch more underjaw. He is OK angulated. I would prefer a touch stronger bone on him, he moves OK for his age, and he has a good coat.
YD (3,1)
1st Forbes’ CH Degallo The Prodigy JW: This is a quality dog, excellent constructed but a touch too long in his body. He has a lovely foreface, excellent ears and nice eyes, nice neck and topline. He moves with drive, a touch too wide in his front movement, well presented in full bloom.
2nd Robertson’s Edglonian Edge Of Glory of Vidlinvoe: Excellent type, today he looks a little too leggy, but he has a nice head with excellent ear placement, good spring of ribs, he could have a touch stronger bone and he could be a touch better angulated both in his front and back, he moves OK. Excellent temperament and well presented.
GD (2)
1st Gartland’s Arcot Polished Black JW: Tri colour dog, just a touch under ideal size, lovely proportions. Excellent foreface, good ears, he is a little too deep in his stop. I could wish for a touch stronger bone, but he is a sound mover and has excellent temperament.
2nd Glencross’ Interstellar Bohemia Classic (IMP CZE): Sound dog, but too big and strong, a touch long in his body proportions. He moves very sound and has an excellent coat texture and good temperament.
PGD (8,2)
1st Berry, Clegram & Clegram’s Smiddyshaw Here I Go Again: This dog has a lot of quality, but his heavy ears spoiled his expression a little. He has a lovely rounded foreface. Excellent body proportions, suitable bone and good feet, very sound mover, excellent presented and super temperament.
2nd Stafford’s Rannerdale The Tramp: This dog has also a lot of quality, but it was not his day today. He did not enjoy so much to be in the ring which was a shame. He has excellent proportions, is excellent constructed and has a good head. However, today he was not on top.
LD (5)
1st Proctor’s Cuilshelties Lochan Torr: A soundly made dog who is up to size and a touch strong in his head. He is well constructed with a lovely ribcage, OK colour, very sound mover and has a good temperament.
2nd Smee’s Wansvale Amiable: Shaded sable of correct size with a lovely colour. He should be stronger in his foreface and be a little longer in his head, excellent ears, OK ribcage, but he could have a little stronger bone and he could move with a little more drive. He could be in stronger muscle condition.
OD (5)
1st Stafford’s Rannerdale Mister Majic: Wow! This is a sheltie of super quality! Lovely clean head, super proportions, good bone and feet, excellent coat, very soundly constructed. He could have a little bit better self confidence in the ring, but this dog is 100% Shetland Sheepdog for me!
2nd Brady & Lynn’s CH Afterglow Sky Miles to Bordercot: Blue merle dog with a lovely colour, up to size, excellent constructed, head of correct length with well set ears, moves very sound around the ring, excellent coat and temperament, well presented.
SBD (2)
1st Saunders’ Galateus Bohemia Classic at Torriglen (IMP CZE): Excellent foreface and nice eyes, little heavy ears, too short in neck, suitable bone, excellent coat texture, he could move with more drive, nice temperament. He give a little too cobby picture.
2nd Ferguson’s Fervaila Black Cuillin: Too big tri colour male with good proportions. He could have a softer expression. OK neck, good topline, OK bone and feet, moves OK from the side.
PB (4)
1st Hateley’s Mohnesee Ria’ly A Dream: Verry pretty puppy bitch with a correct eye and expression that is so so so sweet. She could have a little better underjaw, good neck and sweep over the loins, but she is a touch long in her loin. OK bone, moves typical for her age, good temperament. BPB
2nd Speirs’ Sommerville Emerald Dragon: Up to size for her age, but a very sound bitch. Lovely constructed, could be a little sweeter in expression, moves fantastic. Good temperament. Pleased to see her being placed in the special beginners group.
JB (3)
1st Stafford’s Rannerdale Coco Pop: Lovely junior bitch who is full of quality. She has correct body proportions, a nice silhouette and a lovely sweep over the loins which creates a nice picture. Excellent foreface, a touch too broad in her back skull, excellent ears. Although she has a touch round eye, that is very dark, she still has a very pleasing expression. Excellent ribcage, good bone and feet. Moves with good drive, excellent coat. A very eye catching junior. Pleased to see her win RBIS and Best Junior In Show. CC, BJ, BOB, RBIS, BJIS
2nd Hateley’s Mohnesee Ria’ly A Dream: Seen.
YB (1)
1st O’Connel’s Kishdigra Atomic Goddess of Sionnachdu: Up to size bitch that is a little long in her proportions. She is well-constructed and a very sound mover. Excellent temperament and presented in good coat.
GB (9,4)
1st Stafford’s Rannerdale Sugar Puff: Quality bitch with excellent proportions and a correct outline. Enough foreface, good ears, a touch round eyes but still a pleasing expression. Excellent bone and feet. Excellent presented coat and she was in full bloom. She could have a more self confidence in the ring.
2nd Keeling’s Kishdigra Spirit Of The Goddess RAF: Excellent type, head of good length, good eyes, well set but a little light ears. Good neck but the transition from neck till back could be softer which would give her a better outline. Good bone and feet, moves with good drive, good coat. Could be a little more confident in the ring.
PGB (2,1)
1st Bladon’s Kiemont What A Cracker: Excellent type, a touch long in her proportions. Good skull and ears, good sweep over the loins but the topline is too weak because she is carrying too much weight today. She should look much better if she loses a little weight and was in a little harder muscle condition. Good temperament.
LB (6)
1st Gartland’s Arcot Take A Moment JW: Up to size bitch, but still very feminine, nice head with lovely eyes, well set but a little light ears, good topline with good sweep over the loins, well angulated and moves very easy around the ring. OK coat and good temperament.
2nd Mohnesee’s Meliya’s JW: Correct size and good proportions, excellent foreface, too deep in her stop and a touch broad in back skull, well set but a little heavy ears. Well angulated, moves very easy, OK coat. Friendly temperament
OB (5)
1st Hill’s Molson Movie Star: Full of quality, excellent breed type with head of correct length and very feminine, lovely foreface, correct ear set and nice eyes, OK neck, a touch long in her loin but excellent sweep over her loins, well angulated but I would prefer more fore chest. Moves with good drive. I wish she had more self confidence in the ring. Excellent coat. RCC
2nd Pearson’s CH Edglonian Apricot Lil: Excellent size, good proportions, very feminine, she need to fill out more in her foreface, excellent ears, could have a little more almond shaped eyes, good neck, good sweep over the loins, good ribcage but a touch too wide in her front, she could have a touch stronger bone, good feet, moves good in the back and from the side, a little wide in the front. Excellent temperament and well presented.
VB (3)
1st Pearson’s Edglonian Starlet: Just lovely, the most beautiful head with so so sweet eyes, correct size, excellent neck and topline, suitable bone and good feet. She makes a true picture of a Shetland Sheepdog! You can see her age in her movement. If she has moved better I think I could have given her best of breed today. I am very pleased she was given Best In Show Veteran. BV
2nd Welford’s CH Ristine Emerald: Up to size, very sound and lovely constructed with excellent body proportions. She should have a much softer expression. Excellent ears, moves easy around the ring. Good coat and temperament.
SBB (3,1)
1st Speirs’ Sommerville Emerald Dragon: Seen. Best special beginners.
2nd Shaw’s Bramblecroft Reeba at Bluequarry: A little up to size, OK body proportions, too broad in her back skull. Good bone and feet. Too much coat today which made her look heavier than she was. Good temperament.
