North East of England Toy Dog Society Championship Show (12.07.2026)

Thank you to the society for asking me to judge at this prestigious show. The showground is ideal with good ground for the dogs to show on and a great atmosphere. Thank you for the exhibitors for entering and bringing their dogs and to the steward Peter for keeping the ring organised. 

Lowchen:

Puppy Dog (4,0)

1st – Morgan-Stanley’s – Golbourne Marcello- Upon first glance you can see in this class that he scores on his square shape and his overall size. Still young and developing but lots to like. Broad skull with good ear set. Correct muzzle to skull ratio and correct dentition. Dark rounded eyes with unbroken eye rims. Good length of neck with correct head carriage. Level back with short strong loin. Well muscled hind quarters with decent angulation. Tail held over the back with plume touching the back. Correct natural coat and texture. Moved out well today with free parallel movement. BPD 

2nd – Richardson’s – Arfenco’s Warrior King Ivor For Hollinsclose – Another nice puppy. Masculine throughout with good width to skull and muzzle. Great expression and temperament. Correct muzzle to skull ratio. Loved his dark pigment of his large eyes and nose. Correct dentition. Proudly carried head with clean outline of neck and level back but would prefer touch less body length. Good tail set and carried well. Decent spring of rib with depth to brisket. Good turn of stifle and moved out freely.

3rd – Sanderson’s – Hollinsclose Especially for Danack

Post Graduate Dog (2,1)

1st – Morgan-Stanley’s – Golbourne’s A Diamond – Compact male of correct shape shown in natural coat of good texture. Broad skull with correct ear placing with fringing. Rounded dark eyes with unbroken eye rims. Well defined stop with strong muzzle, correct scissor bite and dark lips. Square outline, with level back and moderate tuck up. Tail held and carried correctly. Parallel mover with plenty of drive from behind.

Open Dog (2,0)

1st- Graham’s – CH Jameneli Back To Black – This quality male makes himself known in the ring with his ‘look at me’ persona and breed type. He has a silhouette as required, with breadth, depth and width throughout whilst being in a square compact package. Broad in skull with correct muzzle to skull ratio, with muzzle strong with width and correct dentition. Large dark round eyes, with good width between them and well defined stop. Clean flowing lines from his neck, well laid shoulders, level back and short loin and correct tail set. Well turned stifles with plenty of muscle apparent to hind quarters. On the move he flows around the ring effortlessly with free clean movement, with plenty of reach and drive. BOB and happy to see him awarded RBIS. 

2nd Richardson’s – Hollinsclose As It Was – 2 year old male, he has a good strong head with width and strong muzzle with correct dentition. Large dark round eyes that aid his expression. Head carried proudly with good length. Well laid shoulder and level back but would prefer slightly shorter loin but has good tuck up. Correct tail set just slightly of the level of top line and carried as a plume. Excellent turn of stifle to hind quarter with plenty of muscle. He has elegance on the move and floated around the ring with plenty of reach and drive. RBD 

Puppy Bitch (3,0)

1st – Richardson’s – Hollinsclose Wild Rose – 8 months old. Upon first glance of the class she stands out with ring presence and in good coat for age, with gleaming short coat to hindquarters. Even though still a youngster she has good width throughout. Pleasing expression with large dark round eyes and good strong muzzle with correct dentition. Head held proudly with clean outline well laid shoulder and level back, but would prefer slightly less length of loin but again has good tuck up. Correctly set tail and held well at all times. Excellent hind angulation. On the move she is parallel, plenty of reach and drive and makes you watch her. RBB, BPIB 

2nd – Morgan-Stanley’s – Golbourne’s Set In Diamonds – Very feminine and loved her expression. Her eyes really draw you in, great pigment. Well defined stop with width between the eyes. Correct dentition and muzzle to skull ratio. Good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders and level back. Correct tail set and angulations to hind quarters. Scores for her square shape, short loin and shown in natural slightly wavy coat. 

3rd- Mcfarlanes- Quintrix Holly Berry 

Junior Bitch (1,0)

1st – Dixon’s – Golbourne Dazzling Diamond – Only 13 months and wow, quality bitch. Loved her shape and substance. Width, depth and breadth is all there. Large broad skull, flat between the ears. Gorgeous dark round eyes, with good width between them. Well defined stop, with correct muzzle to skull ratio. Scissor bite. Rounded bone to forelegs with elbows close to the body. Clean silhouette, with level back and short loin and moderate tuck up. Tail set and carried correctly. Excellent muscled hind quarters and angulations. In full coat and in superb condition. This bitch moves so easily with reach and drive. Full of breed type, hard to fault and should easily make up. BB 

Post Graduate Bitch (2,1)

1st – Mcfarlanes – Glendyke Dancing On Ice – 2 year old bitch, very feminine of good size and square shape, but could do with more width throughout. Great pigment to round eyes and nose, but would prefer less muzzle and more width to skull. Scissor bite. Head carried proudly with neck of good length. Shoulders well placed and good hind angulations. Moves out with plenty of drive from behind.

Open Bitch (4,0)

1st – Patterson’s – Hollinsclose The Promise For Bratilda – This bitch is very feminine and shows off expression easily. Skull width and breadth is there with strong muzzle and correct bite. Well defined stop and the most expressive eyes. Well laid shoulders and level back, but would prefer slightly less loin. Correct tail set and held correctly. Well sprung rib with brisket to elbow. Rounded bone to forelegs. Moves out easily, plenty of reach and drive which won her this class.

2nd – Richardsons- Hollinsclose Love Machine – Another lovely bitch, these two could swap places on another day. Again this bitch shows off her expression so easily, the most glamorous eyes with good width. Strong muzzle with black nose and correct bite. Good width to skull with head carried proudly. Decent spring of rib, with level back, strong loin and moderate tuck up. Correct tail set and carried well. Moderate angulations behind. Moved out well and parallel. 

3rd- Morgan-Stanley’s – Golbourne Cherish The Luv 

Veteran Dog or Bitch (4,3)

1st- Mcfarlanes – Kerryken Keir Rob Shcex – 8 years old, masculine male with good width to skull and strong muzzle with scissor bite. Looking well for his age, with coat slightly wavy and good texture. Good length of neck, leading into level back, but length of loin could be shorter. Uses his tail at all times and is set correctly. Enough bone and angulations throughout. Moved out soundly and parallel.

Bolognese:

Junior (2,0)

1st –Morgan-Stanley’s – Banacek Gianluca – This young male scores firstly on his shape accompanied with his masculine head, with large dark eyes, good muzzle length with correct stop and bite. Shown in superb coat with natural flocking. Developing well with correct lay of shoulder and elbows held close to the body. Excellent spring of rib with desired level back and slightly arched loin to correct tail set. Moved out well with drive and parallel. BD 

2nd –Lovie’s- Blootoon Running Bear – Good sized male, with natural fronding appearing in most areas. Correct eye shape and size with dark pigment and eye rims. Decent stop and length of muzzle with black nose and correct bite. He has a good length of neck and lay of shoulder, accompanied with level back. Could do with being a tad shorter in body length to aid in profile. RBD 

Post Graduate Dog (1,0)

1st – Lovie’s – Slovkyn Jonathan of Blootoon – A masculine male of larger size and substance. Good head shape, dark pigment to eyes and nose. Good bite. In a lot of coat but not the right texture and fronding only apparent on his head. Good spring of rib and brisket down to elbow. Would prefer more angulation to hind quarters. 

Open Dog (1,0)

1st – Lovie’s – Blootoon Guiding Star – This male has a lot of substance but pretty square in outline. Coat shown in natural state with fronding apparent. Good dark eye and rounded shape but would prefer darker pigment to nose. Correct bite. Masculine headpiece, ears well set and carried away from the head. Level back with slightly arched loin. Good spring of rib, brisket to elbow and straight forelegs. Moved out ok today.

Junior Bitch (2,0)

1st - Morgan-Stanley’s Banacek IL Mondo – A young promising bitch. Shown in great condition with natural flocked coat. Great temperament and at one with handler. Loved her dark pigment to eyes and nose. Correct head shape with high ear set allowing for the broader appearance of the head. Clean outline leading to well laid shoulders and level back with decent spring of rib and body. Tail carried loosely over the back at all times. Free brisk mover and unrestricted with good drive. Another of great breed type. RBB   

2nd – Lovie’s – Blootoon Pocohontas – A nice size bitch with good fronding. Friendly temperament and very excitable, making it more difficult to assess on the table and move. Still young and developing but shows a clean outline with correct length of neck and well laid shoulders, with tail set off the croup. Moderate angulations to hindquarter with well let down hocks. 

Post Graduate Bitch (1,0)

1st– Lovie’s – Slovkyn Jessie of Blootoon – A good sized bitch in natural untrimmed coat. Dark pigmentation to eyes and nose. Correct bite and definite stop but would prefer slightly less muzzle to aid with overall look and expression. Friendly temperament. Good lay of shoulder with slightly arched loin. Would prefer more angulation to hindquarters. Moved out parallel with free movement in front but would prefer more drive from behind. 

Open Bitch (1,0)

1st - Morgan-Stanley’s – Banacek Diamante Bianco – This girl was a little superstar, screams breed type, beautiful shape and size with the most gorgeous expression. Her eyes are large, dark and fully pigmented and really draw you in. Good skull shape and ear placement. Correct dentition, muzzle length and definite stop. Scores on her square outline, with brisket to elbow and well sprung ribs. Good turn of stifle to hindquarters. Coat in super condition with correct flocking. She flowed around the ring with brisk parallel movement. Hard to fault, eye catching and never stopped showing for her handler. BOB
