In general, I felt the quality in depth of this variety has dropped since I last judged them a couple of years ago. I’ve felt that for a long time, this has been the strongest of varieties and it saddens me to see the decline. However, this not peculiar to just dachshunds it applies to so many breeds. Some over loaded front constructions and poor rear movement is something to look out for.

1ST Cloudside Xaiden at Decalleigh (Mrs E & Mr C Christie). A well balanced and presented boy, with good harsh texture to coat. Masculine throughout. Still quite young and a little plan in head at the moment, correct shaped eye and set ear. Well boned with well arched toes and firm pads. Would like a better return of upper arm and lay of shoulder. Well sprung rib and well back, good depth of brisket, correct body proportions. Firm topline into correctly set tail and carriage level on the move. A well made rear with good bend of stifle. Moved well enough.

1ST Tendrow Down to The Wire at Bramdach JW (Mrs C Akehurst). 2 years old and just starting to mature well. Pleasing head and expression with a good keen eye and correctly set, conical shape to head with plenty of beard. Correct head proportions and slight stop. Crest to the neck with clean forehand and well defined pro-sternum. Like a slightly better lay of shoulder. Well defined ribs and well back into arched loin. Correctly topline and tailset. Correct harsh wiry texture to the coat. Tended to overstretch the rear end out. Moves away with some drive.

1ST Atahira Finale (Mrs C Davies). A very Typey dog, with lots of qualities to like. Correct body proportions with some length of leg. Wel made through out. Good bone and feet, a pro sternum, well sprung rib and strong arched loin, well made behind with good rear angulation. Not the most classic of head pieces but qualities to like, well balanced correct eye and well placed ear. Moved well without any tummy tapping. For a red a super harsh coat and well presented.

2ND Cairparavel Hartnell (Mrs S J Clayton-Smith). A well made Typey dog with a super harsh textured coat, and well presented. Well sprung rib and defined pro sternum. Good lay of shoulder and correct front construction with amble bone and nice feet. Good topline and tailset. Moved well in profile and to and fro. Masculine head however a little too broad in back skull for me. And I would like a little more length of loin to complete the correct body proportions.

1ST Boloria All Spice (Mrs C Akehurst).

 Really liked his head and expression, very typical of it’s a good conceal shape. Nice keen eye and well placed ear on the skull. Clean neck with slight crest into a well laid shoulder and defined pro sternum. Good one and feet, well sprung rib. Supporting a correctly topline and well set tail. Moved well in profile keeping a balanced picture. Happy on the move with some drive.

2ND Feldhund Moonlight JW (Mrs A J & Mr A Beagrie). Masculine head and expression. Clean neck with slight crest folding through to a correct topline. Good strong and well arched toes. Good spring of rib well back and depth of brisket. Defined pro sternum. Would like a little less length of loin and tended to tummy tap in rear movement at times. Good harsh wiry textyto the coat and well presented.

1ST Hazelglade Harriet (Mrs K Buxton). I preferred the overall balance, make and shape of this exhibit. Was also far more animated on the move. Plenty of substance all through. Pleasing head and expression with a nice eye and well set ear, skull not to broad, with slight crest to the neck. Good bone and feet. Coming form a well defined pro sternum. A little stuffy in shoulder placement.

2ND Carcorn Chrissy's Girl (Mr N & Mrs C Corner). A lighter type but still balanced. Good bone and feet with a good spring of rib. Firm topline and well made rear construction. Good harsh coat texture. Would benefit from shaper presentation around the finishing touches.

1ST Cloudside Xamira with Boloria (Mrs J Rowe). A real Cloudside class. I think this bitch kept herself together on the move. A really pleasing feminine head and expression, lovely shape to the eye and well set ear with a good leather. Clean neck and shoulder running through to a well defined pro sternum. Good legs and feet. Well sprung rib and a well made rear construction well angulated . Moved well both ways and kept her topline in profile. Good harsh wiry coat texture, just needs to fill in the middle.

2ND Cloudside Xari (Mr W Moore). Very similar in type with a pleasing head piece, conical shaped, with a nice eye and correctly set ear. Clean through her neck and shoulder with good lay and some pro sternum. Well bone and nicked arched toes and good pads. Well ribbed back and strong loin. Needs to settle in her rear end, tended to rise a little over the loin. Correct tail carriage. Correct harsh wiry coat texture. Moved well enough both ends.

1ST 2039 - Stanegate Stephanie (Mrs J L Carruthers). Really liked this bitch, I think when she matures on well, with everything in the right place. A lovely feminine head and expression, with a bright well shaped eye. Balanced proportions with slight stop and some work in the skull. Correctly set ear with nice sized ear. Clean through her forehand with a slight crest to the neck into well place shoulder into good legs and feet with good bone. Good spring of rib and a pro sternum. Arched loin supporting a correct topline and well set tail. Moved both ways the best of today entry. Super presentation, with good harsh wiry textured coat.

2ND 2057 - Something Audatious among Clanwillow (Mrs S B & Mr K R Jones). Another well balanced bitch, not quite the head of 1st. Plenty of substance all through with good spring of rib well back. Plenty of pro sternum and a well constructed front assembly with good bone and well arched toes with good pads. Moved well enough both ways. Good harsh wiry coat texture.

900. Dachshund (Wire-Haired) - Post Graduate Bitch

1ST Auspicious Annie for Lanebern (Mrs K & Mr S G Lane). A preferred the more balance picture of this bitch on the move and stood compared to 2nd. Plus the movement was more positive with good foot fall and drive from behind. Pleasing head and expression into clean forehand with plenty o pro sternum. With good bone and feet, well sprung rib well back with some depth. Good rear angulation with some muscle condition. Tended to lose her topline over the wither in profile movement. Good harsh coat and texture, well presented.

2ND Cairparavel Mary Quant (Mrs S J Clayton-Smith). Good head and expression with a clean neck and shoulders, well constructed front assembly with good bone and nice feet. However nails could be tidier and trimmed. Good spring of rib and loin, with plenty of substance. Good rear angulation. Seemed a little bored on the move. Good harsh wiry coat texture.

Nice feminine head and expression , well balanced and conical in shape. Clean neck with slight crest to it, into well laid shoulder and correct front assembly with some pro sternum. Good bone and well padded feet. Firm topline with good spring of rib and strong arched loin. Good rear angulation and showed on the move with some drive and good side gait. Well presented with a good harsh wiry coat texture.

2ND Tannahill Thalia (Mrs H Downie). Another nice bitch very honest and workmanlike. A well balanced make and shape. Lost out on head to 1st, not as balanced. I’d also like a darker eye. Well made front assembly with self sprung rib with a firm topline and good tailset and carriage. Moved well both ways. Super harsh coat for a B&T. Could do some help with the finer points of trimming, which would really enhance the final presentation.

Feminine, pleasing head and expression, with a well made front assembly with well sprung rib well back with a strong arched loin. Firm level topline into correct tailset and carriage. Plenty of substance all through the body and mature. Well muscled and hard condition. Move well both ways and kept a balanced picture in profile. Good harsh coat texture and well presented.

2ND Stanegate Savannah with Sweetihoundz (Mrs A Mackenzie). Not in quite as good condition, I’d like a bit more of a feminine head. Good neck and shoulder with well made front assembly, well sprung rib and strong loin. Strong topline into well set tail. Moved well enough, not quite as animated as first. An honest type bitch.

Lovely feminine head and expression with a good eye and well set ear on a balanced head. Well made front assembly with some pro sternum and good bone and well made feet front and back. Good spring of rib and correct body proportions to length of leg. Firm level topline flowing through her neck and shoulder and tailset. Moved well enough and kept a balanced picture on the move in profile. Good coat texture and well presented.
