American Cocker Spaniel Club Of Great Britain

Breed: Single Breed Championship Show

American Cocker Spaniel Club of Great Britain Championship Show 2026

It was an honour and a pleasure to be asked to judge the ACSC of GB Championship show. I found all of the dogs to be of good temperament. Teeth were correct but a few were very small. Breeders need to watch the shoulders as I found a few were upright with short upper arms. This prevents them from covering the ground, causing a short stride in front. The same dogs lacked muscle tone resulting in them being close behind. On saying this, I was very pleased with my main winners.

Special Cut Down/Pet trim/Working Dog or Bitch

1. Morris and Langton’s – Sh. Ch. Sabisabi Iroquois Tiva at Jennobar. Smart 6yr old R/W in cut down trim. Pretty headed girl with good length of neck. Correct front and good rear angulation. She held her outline on the move, with a slightly sloping topline and good tailset, covered round well

2. Kirton, Dackome and Stanton’s – Sabisabi Apache Catori. Another nice girl. 4yr old B/W. Well made, slightly plainer in head than 1. She moved very well but unfortunately was nervous on the table.

Puppy Dog

1. Dring - Dream Boy From Vanos. Alone in the class but this young B/T boy has a lot to like. He was very nice to go over. Head was balanced with dark aye and plushy muzzle. Strong, arched neck, well laid shoulders and good heartroom. He has a good length and spring of rib, short coupled with well ben stifles. He covered the ground and held his topline. He should have a good future.

Junior Dog

1. Gadsby, Lynn and Isherwood’s – Letjashaja Ptitsa Supertramp for Afterglow. Upstanding 7mnth buff puppy. His head needs to develop and he needs a little more width of muzzle, but this will come. He is beautifully put together with excellent shoulders, upper arm and heart room. His neck is of good length and nicely arched. Ribs are are of good length and well sprung. His rear is strong and his muscle tone and tailset is correct. He powered around the ring, covering plenty of ground, holding a super outline. The only thing is, I really wouldn’t want him to grow much taller, but I’m judging him on the day, not in a years’ time. BP & RDCC.

Post Graduate Dog

1. Caunce and Dray’s – Yankeetank the Gondolier. 2yr old Black dog, attractive head, dark eye, good neck, correct shoulder, excellent tailset, moved well in profile, but was a little close behind

2. Salvages’s - Unveiledjaclee Ace of Hearts(Imp Fra). Stronger headed buff. Good dentition, topline and tailset were good, but he lacked coat and although moved on a loose lead didn’t use himself, losing his outline.

Open Dog

1. Kirton, Stanton & Dackombe - Sh. Ch. Sabisabi Iroquois Eyota. I have admired this R/W dog for a long time. He was beautifully presented as always. He has a good length of neck, excellent shoulder placement, good length of upper arm and heartroom. His ribs are well sprung and he’s short coupled. He has a hard back and spot on tailset. Rear angulation is correct. Held a good outline on the move with a slightly sloping topline. The only thing I would like is a bit more width of muzzle. He’s a worthy Champion though in my opinion. DCC, RBIS

2. Salvage’s - Apache Tonka at Geenawell. R/W dog of a heavier type than 1. Again, very well made throughout. Just a bit level on the move. A good dog to go over.

3. Dummet and Vikhrova – Nova Story Boogie Woogie (Imp Mne)

Puppy Bitch

1. Beet and Clay’s – Americlass Americano with Thistlefinch. Beautiful headed B/T. Lovely soft expression, dark eye and plushy muzzle. Nicely put together with good spring of ribs. Unfortunately lost her topline on the move, but overall a nice puppy.

1. Junior Bitch – Madigan’s Tricajon Coco Mademoiselle. Glamourous 18mth old Choc/Tri. Well presented, even though she has lost some belly coat. Attractive, balanced head, well put together in front. Good spring of ribs, short coupled, correct tailset, nice short hocks, moved well.

2. Clay and Dummet’s - Americlass Macchiato with Almonsbury Close up to 1. Very pretty, plushy head with dark eye. Well made throughout and lots to like. Unfortunately, she lost her topline on the move, but she’s still a puppy so has time to firm up. BPB

Post Graduate Bitch

1. Caunce’s – Yankeetank Ladytron. 2yr old B/T in good coat. Presentation could be improved. She has good bone and well sprung ribs with correct tailset. She moved freely but lost her topline.

Limit Bitch

1. Morris and Langton – Arrowbien Nina Ricci at Jennobar. This B/W bitch is a delight to go over. I wouldn’t want her any taller, but she’s well put together. Correct in all departments with a nice long ribcage and short coupling. She held her topline and really covered the ground holding her tail correctly. Her coat is of the correct texture and she was well presented. Worthy RBCC

2. Fryer’s - Dreamcast Elysium At Carolco. Much smaller type, 2yr old B/W. She has a very pretty head and compact body with big ribs. Holding her tail correctly she didn’t cover the ground as well as 1 and I preferred 1’s shoulder placement.

3. Swigiski’s - Nasailleen Edge of Glory at Cosalta

Open Bitch

1. Lynn and Crummey’s – Sh. Ch. Afterglow Sultana. Stunning Black of 15mths old. Beautifully presented in gleaming coat. Exquisite head with soft, melting expression. Dark eye, good chiselling, well feathered ears and correct bite. Nicely arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Correct length of upper arm and good heart room. Legs strong with elbows well tucked in. Ribcage is well sprung and of good length, short in coupling. Strong, hard, slightly sloping topline, correct tailset, though to be ultra critical she does carry her tail a bit high, but not over her back so not detracting from her outline. She flowed around the ring, covering ground with ease. BCC & BIS

2. Donaldson’s - Ir.Sh. Ch. Cherdon Classic. Another quality Black bitch, not quite as feminine as 1, but beautifully presented and in fabulous condition. There is so much to like about her. Slightly longer in coupling than 1 and not covering quite the ground. I do think her day will come in the UK. A credit to her owner.
