STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER DOGS

I wish to thank Merseyside SBT club for their kind invitation to Judge their Championship show and the warm welcome I received special thanks to my very efficient ring stewards Dave and Pauline who kept the ring running smoothly and to the exhibitors who brought quality dogs for me to go over this made some of the decisions very difficult especially in the higher classes.

This show as people may be aware was due to be judged by my friend Sandra Carter who when I accepted the stand in appointment had to withdraw due to ill health however much to everyone shock Sandra sadly pass away as a tribute to Sandy and a life well lived bringing joy and exceptional dogs into people’s lives I commissioned a Shortyrocks armband to be made this was kindly donated by Boscador Gifts a big thank you for doing this for me.

General observations I found teeth on the whole where very good and better than the last time I judged dogs some 4 years ago. Only a couple of misplaced lower canines but they weren’t causing any health issues but did affect placings, I had only one noisy breather which given the heat on the day bodes well for the future.

Narrow fronts, long backs and no rib or fore chest are a still a worry and haven’t improved since the last time I judged. A couple young dogs I could nearly span, and pigmentation was lacking on quite a few exhibits it may be cosmetic, but it spoils the expression and overall look. Having said that all that the exhibits were turned out in excellent condition and movement on the whole was good.

1st Smet’s KAWILLAGE WARPIG Blk/Br Top sized with nice head shape dark eyes and open nostrils giving a lovely expression he has decent width to front and ribs developing nicely he is short coupled light in loin and has good angulation in shoulders he showed good muscle development over hind quarters moved and handle well.

2nd Gough’s JACKSTAFF THE PATRIOT R/W showing much promise however need more ringcraft to settle better in the ring he has a nice head with dark round eye correctly place giving a lovely expression good width to his front and his rib is developing nicely he is well off for bone and has a level topline with a good tail set his movement was good once he settled one to watch

1st Zalis’s YAMATO BLADE DOMIDAR DOGS Blk/Br this one took my eye as he entered the ring he has a lovely head shape not overdone with a nice length to his muzzle, dark eyes open nostrils and a good ear set, he has good angulation to shoulders nice rib a level topline which was held on the move he is short coupled and has a good bend of stifle with a good tail set He is balanced throughout and moves well shown and handled very well seriously considered for RCC good luck with him BPD and with agreement with my co judge BPIS

2nd Davis’s SHARMARA FIDELIUS CHARM Br/Pied another super puppy I’ve admired from ringside unfortunate to meet 1st today he has a lovely head shape giving an appealing expression dark eyes and nails he has a straight front and his rib is developing nicely he is light in loin short coupled and showing nice muscle tone the over the hindquarters which have correct angulation, his topline is level and was held on move he has a good tail set, and moved and handled well bright future

1st Seymour’s DEKAYRO’S EYE OF THE TIGER Blk/Br good head shape with nice length to his muzzle he has open nostrils and dark eyes giving a nice expression he has good width to his front, good rib has strong hindquarter with good muscle development and correct tail set he was shown in good condition, moved and handled well

2nd Rivory’s PRIDESDALE THE REAL ONE R&W another nice junior he slightly more strength to head than 1st but not as clean in foreface, he excels in body shape and has nice rib he is balanced with good angulation front and back and a level topline which was held on move he was shown in lovely condition and moved and handled well

1st Bassford - Lane’s JOJALANE I DRINK WINE JW R/W super head with broad muzzle he has a dark mask open nostrils and dark eyes giving a lovely expression he has a straight front with good width plenty of bone and stood four square he has a level topline with enough rib and a strong backend with a good bend of stifle he is very animated in the ring but moved well once he settled

2nd Walsh’s GEORGIESTOON DEFIANT BOY FOR WEORC JW another typey exhibit he has good strength to his head giving a super expression and good width to his front he has a level topline held on move super rib and is short coupled he has strength over the hindquarters and a good bend of stifle shown in good condition moved and handled well

3rd Martinez & Martinez BULLBROTHERS THE NAVIGATOR

1st Preston’s’s KAHAMAIA JONAH 4th in puppy B/Br nice head shape with a nice dark eyes and neat ears giving an appealing expression he has plenty of bone and good feet with dark nails he had a good tail set moved well for a puppy

2nd Courtney’s DEXILYSTAFFS NORTHERN STAR R/W Not the strength of head of one but has lovely dark eyes giving a lovely expression he has decent width to front enough rib and a good bend of stifle he has strength in the hindquarters and move well for handler

1st Emery’s CASILS FIGHT OR FALL R/W

Stood out in class for me top sized exhibit but beautifully balanced he has super head with good length to his muzzle lovely dark eyes giving a classic expression he has good width to his front and good shoulder angulation nice rib and his topline was level he had a good bend of stifle and was shown with good muscle definition he was moved and handled very well

2nd Boulton & Gillespire Wren’s DUSKLIGHT WHITE HEAT Rd & Wht pied of good make he has a nice head not overdone with open nostrils dark eyes and good pigmentation he has sufficient width to his front a level topline and is short coupled he has a dramatic tuck up and was shown in very fit condition but for me I would prefer a little more covering he moved and was handed well

1st Martinez & Martinez BULLBROTHERS TIMELORD JW F/W Super fawn of great substance he has a strong head with dark eyes giving a fabulous expression, he has good width to front a good depth of brisket, level topline, nice rib and a tuck up he is short coupled and he powered down the mat he was shown in super fit condition to see definition on a fawn is hard to do you can see the work that has gone in good luck with him

2nd Halls’s GEORGDIESTAFF LOCAL HERO B/B Top sized straight front with width he has an attractive head with dark eyes giving a nice expression he has rib and a level topline and is light in loin, he shows good muscle tone and moved out well just preferred the powerful drive on 1st

1st Jenning’s ELITEBULL VALENTINE Wht/Rd pied this one I have admired from the ringside and he didn’t disappoint he has a lovely head shape dark eyes perfection for me would be a darker eye rim he excels in body shape has good angulation front and back a level top line and is balanced throughout he’s a good blend of bull & terrier and was shown in super condition he moved and handled well bright future

2nd Cushley’s BULLBROTHERS MONTE CRISTO Red another very nice dog one I’ve never really noticed before and from my notes a close decision he has decent width to his front a nice head shape with dark eyes giving an appealing expression his topline is level and held on move he is well off for rib and has a nice bend of stifle he was shown in lovely condition and moved and handle well

This one is like a fine wine he has matured lovely he has a super head dark eyes giving a wicked expression attributes I was looking for he is clean in foreface with open nostrils and has good angulation on his shoulders his topline was level, he has nice rib and is short coupled with a good bend of stifle he was in super fit condition hard to touch and is balanced throughout he moved well with plenty of drive down the mat one I would be pleased to sit on my sofa thank you for bringing him CC and with agreement with my co judge BIS

2nd Sheldon’s CH KARMARISTAFFS ROYAL RANSOM AT BOWTMAN B/B

Another super quality exhibit he has a lovely head dark eyes and is clean in foreface open nostrils and has super expression he has a straight front with width and his topline is level and he has a good spring of rib with good shoulder angulation he is short coupled and balanced, and was shown in lovely condition moved out well RCC

1st Preston’s TILLCARR FIRE STARTER Br/ wht 9 years young stood alone but a worthy winner he had a lovely head dark eyes and silver chops giving an appealing expression he has a level topline good angulation on shoulders and is balanced he still shows good muscle tone and moved and handled well
