BRACCO ITALIANO 

I would like to thank the committee of Driffield championship show for the invite to Judge this wonderful breed and to all the exhibitors for their entries and good sportsmanship on accepting my decisions. The breed I feel is in a good position some really strong classes and some super youngsters coming through. It was lovely to hear cheers on folk winning their classes, how it should be. Also thank you to my steward who kept the ring running smoothly throughout the morning. 

SBD(3,1a) 1. Szulzycka’s “ Braccorion’s All or Nothing” 3-year-old male, scored in head good chiselling under the eyes which were of good colour. Strong neck and well-placed shoulders, has good bone and his outline is almost square in profile looking a well-balanced picture. Width of second thigh was evident and correct topline and tailset. Moved well in profile but a little wider behind. Good male, BSB and was pleased to see him awarded SBG2. Congratulations. 2.Fazenfield’s “Owlspoint Askin for Trouble” have judged this orange boy a few years ago, good sort, not quite the head of 1, and a bit of a rangier type, longer in upper arm, great depth of chest and his loin was wide and slightly arched , very fit in body and well-muscled, would want a bit more spring of rib, moved out ok. VD(2) 1.Bell’s “ Tolriver Enzo at Owlspoint” 7 year old chestnut, this boy looks the best I have seen him, very balanced in outline, love his head, zygomatic arch with correct chiselling under the eyes which were of good colour and gave good expression, good front and shoulder presented in good coat and condition, moved well he scored over 2 as I preferred his rear movement and was slightly more true coming towards. Pipped at the post by the veteran girl who was also looking her best. 2. Longman’s “ Braccorion’s Quick Look of Callaiscroft” stronger male but of good balance, excellent bone and shoulder placement in fit condition and was well muscled, another with a good head, not as true on the out and back as 1 but looked good in profile on the move. MPD(1) Coghlan’s &Towns “ Quirinale Dell’oltesavio” 6 Months old chestnut, very nice youngster showing a lot of promise presented in excellent coat and condition. Has good bone and feet, super hindquarters that were well muscled for age, good head and ear placement, scored in shoulder at this tender age needs to strengthen all through as you would expect but moved out well covering the ground. PD(3). 1. Leonard’s “ Bracchini Burst your Bubble” 11-month-old puppy who must have a bright future, I really liked this young dog caught my eye on the initial go around and upon examination did not disappoint , his overall outline was totally Bracco, almost square with correct topline, excellent bone, deep enough in chest for his age but still needs to finish in body but everything is there to make a super dog, he moved so well for his age, at times would throw his front but this will tighten with age, pushed the puppy bitch hard for best puppy and I did consider him for the RCC in the dog challenge , will watch his progress with interest. 2. Forbes &Sladden’s “ Silvestre Pop Soda At Canemamans” 10 month old chestnut, liked his head deep in muzzle and correct divergent planes, he gave good expression from good, coloured eyes, good bone and feet, depth to loin and enough fore-chest for age clean over neck and shoulders, moved well in profile but couldn’t match 1 today on the away movement , still needs to tighten up behind. 3. Szulzycka’s “ Callaiscroft Rodeo Star”PGD(2) 1. Atherton’s “ Callaiscroft Fait Accompli At Brevathos” 2 year old orange who has still some maturing to do, I see he is the brother to my CC winner. Lovely head and eye with good length of forearm this showed on the move having plenty of reach, looking a little shallow in chest at the moment but has time on his side, excellent skin and coat, strength in loin and correct tail set, well-muscled dog and held himself well on the move to give a good account of himself. 2. Fazenfield’s “Owlspoint Asking for Trouble” second in special beginners. LD ( 7,1a) What a class, quality right through some tough decisions, this can only bode well for the breed. 1. Holdstock &Fretwell’s “ Callaiscrroft Espirit De Vie For Amicofedele JW. Loved him. Quality male his head is textbook, correct amount of chiselling under his eyes, zygomatic arch, big open nose and eyes of correct colour and giving a lovely expression and shows true character. Super quality bone, deep body and excellent ribbing, showing correct topline on the stack, with strength in withers, well developed thighs and muscle was evident, once handler got him moving at the right pace he was floorless, so true on the out and back which was the deciding factor today in a quality male entry, great profile movement with that correct open gait showing reach and drive. Happy to award him the CC which I later found out was his second, a male of this quality should not have to wait long for that magic third, wish you all the best on gaining his crown. 2.Dodd&Struther -Lake ‘s “Elfindrew Yankee Doodle” lighter in colour male, presented in excellent coat and condition , another with a super head and chiselling, pure quality appearance on the stack, powerful without any exaggeration, quality bone and is of super type, strong muscular neck and correct straight front with excellent forearm angulation giving him reach on the move, good width of second thigh. I have seen this male from the ringside and I knew he would be a contender when I saw him enter the ring however he was playing the fool today and not as settled on the move which he ultimately had to pay the price but by no means a disgrace being awarded 2nd in this super class, just not his day today for top honours. 3. Bowley’s “Gunsyn Superstitious” OD(9) Wow, just when I sifted through the quality in limit, in comes open dog, just want to thank all the exhibitors for the opportunity to judge this class, some good dogs went cardless, I can only judge on the day and we know that’s the name of the game. 1. Rose’s “Sh Ch Piccorino Pheasant Plucker “3-year-old chestnut, no stranger to the limelight this male has done so well for the breed and I can see why. Beautiful profile, stallion of a dog all male without coarseness, he has a stunning head with lovely eyes and expression, muscular neck, outline on the stack says Bracco, deep chest ,correct balanced angulation everything flows correctly into the next part and all in moderation, strong short loin with correct tuck up, tight feet and presented in super condition. Now on the move in profile, he was stunning but he needed more space to fully show off his action and at times wasn’t as fluent as he could on the out and back, and this was the deciding factor today, I had to nitpick to separate, but this dog is a great ambassador of the breed and I couldn’t deny him the RCC today in super company. 2. Newman-Jones “Olympos II Mio Elio Del Sole Haunsperg (IMP DNK) caught my eye immediately as he came in the ring I have seen this male ringside before so was honoured that he was here today for me to judge, he is stunning different in type to 1 but again of super quality. Good head strong neck and his angulation is balanced throughout, he too has that almost square outline and super width of thigh that were well muscled of good size and he moved soundly on the out and back and showed good reach action in profile giving also good drive, for me I feel this male has much more to come and looked a little less mature today but I be interested to see how he finishes as he definitely has it all to go to the top. 3. McAndrew’s “Sh Ch Gunsyn Wave Runner In Brackenmist” . SBB(1) Rowley’s” Canemaman’s Final Say” 15-month chestnut, very raw youngster, appeals in head with good eye, deepening in chest and has a balanced outline on the stack, enough angulation throughout and was straight in front with decent bone for a bitch , well-muscled, moved better in front as was wide going away, ok in profile movement just needs time to come together, well handled. VB(3) Pearson’s “ Int ch&Ni Ch &Ir ShCh &Sh Ch Braccorions Nesta Vipas JW” 8 year old girl, have admired this girl from the ringside and she looked the best I have seen her , she is quality and her head is super, a little grey around the gills but I think that gave her more charm, super balanced outline love her markings and overall type, bone and feet were to be admired as was her excellent body properties, strong well developed thighs, excellent well developed ribs and moved out so well, true on the out and back and looked great in profile she can certainly cover the ground, she was up against it in the line up with some super youngsters however my eye kept being drawn back to her and off she went with the RCC and BV , was so pleased she made the cut in the veteran group well done. 2. Pearson’s “Vissia Del Tavuilddaro” another good one from this kennel, not quite together as 1 and preferred 1 s head but having said that she does have good body proportions and good depth in chest , she too moved out well to gain her place, great coat and skin. 3. Hamlyn’s&Frost’s “ Elettra Dell Oltresavio of Amestorah (imp it). MPB (5) What a great class of babies to judge. 1. Beard’s “ Kellitcreed’s Diamond of the Season” isn’t she just, what a cracker of a baby, loved her head and front with the most quality bone and substance yet feminine in every way, lovely outline with enough depth for age and great ribs with strong loin, tight feet , well-turned stifle , her rear quarters are developing along the right lines although as you would expect she needs to mature more especially over the rear , spot on tail set, when asked to move she said ok then who’s second, beautiful mover , profile movement was great with that wide open gait powering around the ring although a baby still ,couldn’t deny her BP in a quality line up of puppies. Later in the day she went on to win the puppy group huge congratulations a great win for the breed. 2.Coghlan’s “Bracchini’s Cherry Bomb” attractively marked baby and gave a super account of herself, loved her head and overall outline , super body and enough substance for age, a little higher on the leg at present and chest will drop with age but she has all the attributes to go all the way, moved out well with reach and drive not quite the reach as 1 but will be interested to see this one when she matures, lovely baby. 3. Leonard’s” Pedipex Danza Di Vita with Bearox” another quality baby showing herself well today. PB(4,2a) 1. Westwood’s “Callaiscroft Aurora Star at Hopewood” another cracker from this kennel. This girl will trouble the best, she looked balanced in profile and possess a beautiful head and eye so very feminine, good in front but preferred the angulation of the minor puppy at this stage, she is mature in body and was in hard condition strong topline and another who catches the eye on the move true out and back with good open side gait, another one I shall watch with interest. 2. Sladden’s “Braccorions Eye Candy at Canemamans” another lovely puppy a little raw in comparison to 1 but has everything in the right place to mature on well, appealed in head gorgeous eye and expression , needs to strengthen in front pasterns, well developed thigh and moved out well. JB(4,2a) 1. Rose’s “ Piccorino Persnickety” 16 months very nice b, loved her head and expression, she is well made all through, good front and depth to her chest, good tuck up displaying good bone and feet, could strengthen slightly in front pastern. Very good mover showing extension on the go around and sound up and back. 2. Rowley’s “ Canemamans Final Say” see special beginner’s critique. PGB(1) 1. Smith&Smith’s “ Teverlarni Lucky Star” 2year old chestnut, stood alone but worthy of her class win. Very sound honest sort of girl. Presented in fit hard condition. Good bone and feet. Her head displays true characteristics of the breed and has lovely expression. Lovely tight feet and showed width to second thigh, moved ok once she got in her stride. LB(3) 1. Holdstock & Fretwell’s “ Piccorino Praise Be For Amicofedele JW”3-year-old chestnut, pretty bitch with good eye and length of muzzle, would prefer a touch more neck, but a decent lay of shoulder and super through the ribs and loin, fit and well-muscled in good coat and condition. Liked her width of thigh and tail set and another girl who can cover the ground, preferred her rear action to take the edge over 2. Critchley’s “ Braccorions Now or Never JW” another nice girl, orange and white, a good size, not quite the substance of 1 needs a bit more maturity but that shall come, good for type, would like a bit more angulation at front but good turn of stifle and moved out ok. 3. Worgan’s “Braccorions Coor Blimey “OB(8) Another class with depth in quality, thank you. Really impressed with my top 5 here. 1. Hurst’s “ Sh Ch You Can Crown The Queen (imp Hun), What a girl, loved her 4 year old Orange, on first glance she appeals for her typical breed outline, she is feminine yet has substance and everything flows form one point to the next, she has style in abundance and this is displayed more so on the move, she is beautiful to watch, good ground covering action with that open side gait, she excels in her front and rear movement such sound footfall and looks balanced from every angle. She was in fit hard condition. Gorgeous type and such a beautiful head, that outlines the breed characteristics, lovely expression. She was good on the stack and appealed from the line up but it was her movement that set her aside was pleased to award her the CC and BOB and was thrilled to find out she made the cut in a strong group, congratulations. 2. McAndrew’ss “ Sh ch Gunsyn Supercala in Brackenmist jw cw26” another super quality girl, a little longer cast than my winners but is all quality. Beautiful head and eye, nothing is overexaggerated. Strong neck and excellent shoulder placement, well ribbed and a strong loin, lovely sweep of stifle and in hard muscular condition, she is all female and is a credit to the breed, I called her back to challenge for the RCC, was a very close decision but was just pipped by the veteran winner today. 3.Pearson&Pearson’s “Swish Ch Kelevera Covo Di Lardi Jw”
