Three Counties Championship Dog Show 6th June 2026 Judge - Laura Stephenson (BRAWDOR) Firstly I would like to thank the Three Counties Show commmittee for their kind invitation to judge, and for their excellent hospitality throughout the day. My thanks also go to my stewards, whose efficiency and support helped the day run smoothly and my task so much easier. My apologies for the lateness of this critique to exhibitors, after the show I was working solid for 11 days and then have been fitting everything in around work, which unfortunately I have to do to pay for dog shows! I was delighted with the overall quality of the entry, temperaments were excellent throughout. All exhibits allowing me to go over them with them ease and it was lovely to see dogs presented in such good condition. A credit to breeders and owners. Having judged the breed previously, I felt there was a more consistent and even look to exhibits on this occassion, with fewer extremes and a greater degree of breed type across all classes. This made for some competitive judging and resulted in several close decisions. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my day and would like to thank all exhibitors for accepting my placings in the good nature and enthusiasm that the Elkhound community is known for. Post graduate Dog 1/1 Cuss, Norvin Krackjen - 3 yeard old with good bone, square outline with a wedge shaped and a lovely dark eye. Well ribbed and a well set and tightly curled tail, slightly loose in the front on the move and would prefer more length of leg to give a more balanced movement but good movement from behind. Limit Dog 4/4 Jolley, Seasara Iceman - Lovely square outline from the side and all in proportion, straight front leading to well laid shoulders. Masculine head, with high set ears and nice dark correct shaped eye. Movement was pleasing keeping the topline on the move, strong in back and nice depth to chest. Could do with tightening up slightly as I believe this will aid his movement even more. Pleased to aware RBD. Cowper, Kamgaard Kross the Sea at Rothenborg - Nice square outline, with a lovely head and straight front but feet could be tighter. Slightly longer than 1 but strong neck and well laid shoulders, movement is pleasing and keeps a nice toppling on the move. Coat is of good colour. Was a close to 1st place. Open Dog 1/1 Cowper, Ch Graythor Augustus at Rothenborg - I have noted a lovely temprement on this boy, he must of wanted some fuss! Square strong dog, well ribbed and good length of leg, all good proportions. Nice length of neck leading to a strong and straight front, movement was effortless clearing the floor with ease keeping a nice level topline. Well set tail and tightly curled over centre of back and nice colour to his coat. Pleased to award BD. Puppy Bitch 1/2 McMahon, Seasara Kerfuffle - Who doesnt love a puppy especially one that is enjoying their day out! A feminine wedge shaped head, ears are slightly bigger at the moment but as we all know puppies grow into them, a lovely dark colour to the ear which I love. Movement was ok, needs to tighten up which I have no doubt will happen over time. BP and I was thrilled to watch her get shortlisted in the group. Junior Bitch 1/1 Cowper, Bowerhinton Bonny Beth at Rothenborg - Lovely square and compact outline with pretty and attractive head. Nice shaped eye, and well placed ears. Well laid shoulders and good amount of bone. Firm in the rear giving a lovely movement however the ground was a bit more interesting today. Close conder for RBB just lacked on the maturity side but look forward to seeing her mature. Post Graduate Bitch 3/3 Williams, Laakso Kaunis at Akritiko - I don’t use the word perfect as I do not believe that there is anything without fault in life however, this young girl for me is everything I look for in an Elkhound. Square outline, femine wedge shaped head, powerful compact body with well sprung ribs, sufficient bone, dark eye, lovely tight feet, movement was effortless covering the ground with ease. Coat is a lovely colour with clear markings and a lovely temprement. This girl should go far in the ring and for me is an outstanding example of the breed. Absolutely no hesitation in awarding BB and BOB. ASH, Grasilva What a Princess - A girl that was enjoying her day out and I found out after not used to showing. Nice square dog of good size and proprtions, lovely feminine expression with a wedge shaped head and lovely colour to coat. Once settled she moved well and had strong rear movement and carried her topline well, nicely curled and well set tail. Limit Bitch 2/2 Mortimer, Laakso Julaften - Slightly longer in body but well proportioned. Excellent bone, lovely shaped head and expression to go with it and alert throuhgout. Slightly looser tail than most but was up and working when on the move, pleasing movement front and back and covered the ground well keeping a firm topline. Pleased to award RBB Cockbill, Cealdstan Artistic Mystic - Again a longer bitch but has a wedge shaped head but slightly on the smaller side, ears set slightly lower than i prefer but they were of good dark colour, tightly curled tail. Moved well and kept her topline and was alert on the move. Veteran Bitch - 1/1 McMahon, Seasara Fire Cracker - I love when veterans enjoy their day out and this girl was having a blast. Square and overall good proportions, tail set high but was loose, short in loin, lovely feminine expression and moved well. Awarded BV.
