Dachshund (Long Haired)
Thank you to the committee for allowing me the honour of judging at their show. This was my first time awarding CC’s in Long’s and although not a huge entry the quality of my principal winners was absolutely superb with both CC winners ending the day as BIS and BVIS
Veteran (3)
1st Ch Swansford Gabrieldor (Mr D Roberts) An easy winner here and I couldn’t find any other male to beat him. Such a showman, standing proudly to show off his beautiful outline with fabulous head carriage, perfect topline, impressive front and rear assembly, well ribbed back to strong loin with enough clearance beneath and carrying a gleaming coat to enhance his outline further. Masculine head of good length with strong jaw, dark eyes and well set and used ears. On the move he covered the ground with ease, accurate out and back and looking a picture in profile. Certainly doesn’t look his age and is handled expertly to get the best out of him. A well deserved CC, BOS & BV. Delighted to hear he took BVIS at the end of the day.
2nd Dagastren Martha My Dear (Mr G P, Mrs D E & Miss J L Lumley) 8yr bitch who was a little lack lustre on the move and carrying too much weight but scored over 3 in front assembly with better forechest and shoulders. Good ribbing and well angulated rear, pleasing head qualities and presented in good coat.
3rd Ranglewood Harvest Song (Miss E A Garlick)
Puppy Dog (1)
1st Bronia Luciano (Mrs F. & Miss C & Mr A Hanney-Mitchell & Wilkinson & Wakeham) Standing alone but more than deserving of his win with his quality obvious to see. Almost a year old and already very mature with super front assembly, firm topline, strong rear of good width, plenty of substance, good bone and feet. Beautiful head with the darkest of eyes, correct length of muzzle, strong jaw and tight lips. Moved freely with plenty of drive carrying himself well in profile. It was a close decision for BP between siblings but just felt his sister was a touch more compact, but it was close! BPD
Yearling Dog (3,1)
1st Delsaux Made It Jumbo Band (Mr J M & Mr M A & Mr A Y Taylor & Hilton & Basha) Nice for size and shape with well balanced length of body, enough neck, firm topline, good chest and front assembly. Masculine head of good balance with well set and used ears and intelligent expression. Moved well with some reach and drive. In good coat and condition.
2nd Ranglewood Christmas Star (Miss E A Garlick) Close decision here with this one also having much to like with good balance to his outline, well ribbed back with firm topline, good underline and plenty of clearance beneath. Well proportioned head with dark eyes and strong jaw. Moved soundly.
Post Graduate Dog (2)
1st Ranglewood Finlaggan at Donnadach (Ms S M & Miss K J M O'neill) Nice size b/t who could have a touch more neck to enhance his outline. Good chest and ribbing, enough clearance and good topline. Masculine head with dark eyes. Moved freely.
2nd Swansford Padraciador at Gainscroft (Miss S L Vincent) Another in super condition, soundly constructed and balanced in outline. Pleasing head and expression. Not covering the ground as well as 1 on the move.
Limit Dog (3,1)
1st Dolan Tears of A Clown (Mr M Wedge) 5yr old who had the better chest and front assembly here, a little long in loin but holds a good topline and keeps a firm outline on the move with good head carriage and good drive from behind. Masculine head of good length with darkish eyes and dense pigment.
2nd Abydezi Shades of Glory (Miss K Lacey) Soundly made but came towards rather wide in front and wasn’t carrying himself particularly well in profile. Pleasing head properties with well set and used ears and dark, almond shaped eyes.
Open Dog, (3)
1st Ch Cedavoch Circeo (L Mcnaughton) Quality dog and not surprised to see he has his title. Lovely for size and balance, carrying a gleaming coat and in well muscled condition. Long arched neck into good shoulders, super forechest and ribbing, strong loin and well angulated rear. Super head and expression, moving with a good length of stride, head high and topline firm.
2nd Ranglewood Pheonix at Donnadach (Ms S M & Miss K J M O'neill) Similar in size and shape to 1 with good angulation fore and aft, decent chest, well ribbed back to strong loin, good bone and feet. Appealing masculine head with fairly dark eyes and strong jaw. Moved freely looking good in profile, not quite as good as 1 going away.
3rd Delsaux Across The Universe (Messrs J M & M A Taylor & Hilton)
Champion Dog (1)
1st Ch Abydachs Return of The Night (Miss E H Geeson) 5yr old son of the cc winner. Beautiful outline with long arched neck into well laid shoulders, good chest and ribbing, strong loin, firm topline and broad, well angulated rear. Well balanced head with nice eyes and expression, carried proudly as he circled the ring with purpose, accurate out and back and with plenty of reach and drive in profile. So similar to his sire, they made a lovely pair going round together and on a different day they could easily change places but on this occasion his sire was really putting on a fabulous performance and so he had to settle for the RDCC.
Special Beginners (3)
1st Giovanni Rude for Kokoadax (Imp Ltu) (Miss Ap Page) Well presented and handled b/t who outmoved the competition here with his purposeful action and proud carriage. Adequate reach of neck, balanced angulation front and back with good bone and feet, well sprung ribs and plenty of clearance. Strong, masculine head of good length with pleasing expression. In super condition and beautifully presented coat. Best Special Beginner.
2nd Fahoogle Minack (Messrs Barnicott & Pascoe) Nice for size and shape with good topline, underline and plenty of clearance beneath. Strong neck, could have more angulation in front, well sprung ribs and strong rear. Well balanced head with nice eyes and expression. Moved ok but could hold a better outline and move with more purpose.
3rd Ranglewood Katrine (Miss P A Heap)
Minor Puppy Bitch (1)
1st Abydezi Abracadabra (Miss K Lacey) Quality 8month b/t with plenty to like. Good for size and balance with lovely reach of neck, good length of ribbing, short loin and broad, well angulated rear. Pretty head of good shape with dark expressive eyes and well set and used ears. Moved happily carrying herself well in profile with head held high and topline firm. A really lovely baby who is sure to appeal to many.
Puppy Bitch (2,1)
1st Bronia Luciella (Mrs F. & Miss C & Mr A Hanney-Mitchell & Wilkinson & Wakeham) 11month old litter sister to the male puppy and equally as impressive. Super for size and substance, compact and balanced in outline with head carried proudly on strong, arched neck, impressive front assembly, well developed body for age with good length of ribbing, short loin and well angulated rear with good width behind. Beautifully shaped head with dark eyes, strong jaw, dense pigment and well set and used ears. Moved freely with good reach and drive, accurate out and back, holding her outline firm. In super coat and condition with a delightful attitude. Just had the edge over her brother for BP but both will no doubt gain their titles with little trouble. BP.
Junior Bitch (5,2)
1st Abydachs Out of The Fire (ai) (Mrs J F Geeson) 17 months old still with some maturing to do but impressed greatly for type and balance. Had the best front assembly here with lovely reach of neck, good chest, well ribbed back to strong loin, well angulated fore and aft with good bone and feet. Feminine head of good length with strong jaw and dark eyes. Really made the most of herself on the move looking particularly good in profile with head high, topline firm and tail carried correctly. Best Junior.
2nd Swansford Opheliadora (Mr A Whitfield-Roberts) Another nice one with well balanced, compact outline good topline and underline, plenty of substance, well angulated rear, good bone and feet. Appealing head and expression with dark correctly shaped eyes, good length of muzzle and strong jaw. Moved well covering the ground with a good length of stride but not quite the outline and carriage of 1.
3rd Cavallibrook Ryhars Final Impression (IKC) (Mr P & Mrs D Reid)
Yearling Bitch (2)
1st Delsaux Singer with The Band (Messrs J M & M A Taylor & Hilton) Free moving and of good balance with firm topline and well carried tail. Decent chest and front angulation, ample reach of neck, well ribbed back to soundly constructed rear, good underline with plenty of clearance. Pleasant head and intelligent expression, dark eyes and dense pigment. Sound and purposeful on the move.
2nd Fahoogle Minack (Messrs Barnicott & Pascoe)
Class 96. Post Graduate Bitch (5,3)
1st Cedavoch Twist of Fate (L Mcnaughton) Only 16months old but already fairly mature and presenting a typically balanced outline in profile with quality coat enhancing it further. Lovely front assembly with very good chest and ribbing, firm topline and underline with enough clearance, good bone and feet. Feminine head of good length and balance with dark eyes, well set and used ears and dense pigment. Impressed on the move with a lovely length of stride and good drive from the rear.
2nd Cavallibrook One Final Kiss at Maudaxi (Mr P & Mrs D Reid) Nice size with adequate reach of neck, firm topline, well sprung ribs, good bone and feet, could carry a little less weight. Really lovely head and expression. Moved soundly with good topline and tail carriage.
Class 97. Limit Bitch (5,2)
1st Abydachs Renegade Angel at Abydezi (Miss K Lacey) Another sired by the dcc winner and he certainly passes on many of his qualities to his children. Great attitude and really makes the most of herself on the move holding a firm outline and covering the ground with ease, good out and back with neat elbows and good width in front and behind. Soundly constructed and in such fit, well muscled condition. Appealing head and expression.
2nd Kyrenia Queens Request with Ranglewood (Miss E A Garlick) Lovely head on this one and at first glance her outline impressed the most in this class however on the move she just didn’t carry herself as well as 1 on the day. Typical balance to her outline with balanced angulation front and back, good bone and enough clearance.
3rd Swansford Diadora (Mr G P, Mrs D E & Miss J L Lumley)
Open Bitch (3,2)
1st Ranglewood Andromeda (Miss E A Garlick) Standing alone but a more than worthy winner who was close up in the challenge and I’m surprised doesn’t carry her title already. Impressive outline with lovely neck and shoulders, firm topline, good underline and clearance, well angulated fore and aft with good bone and feet. Feminine head of good length and strength with lovely dark eyes and well set and used ears. Really moved out well.
Champion Bitch (3,1)
I had already judged some lovely bitches that I would have happily signed green cards for then these two walked in and raised the bar!
Entries: 3 Absentees: 1,
1st Ch Cavallibrook Final Fling Bronia (Mrs F Hanney-Mitchell) Absolutely outstanding bitch who cannot fail to impress in every department. Spot on for size, shape and balance, beautifully conditioned and presented in fabulous coat to enhance her outline. Her head is beautiful, feminine but with good strength to foreface, expressive dark eyes and well set mobile ears. Her long arched neck leads to well laid shoulder, good length of upper arm, super chest and ribbing, short loin and broad, well angulated rear. Her super construction is put to good use on the move flowing effortlessly around the ring with a good length of stride, accurate out and back and holding her super outline perfectly as she circled the ring. Every inch the champion and never put a foot wrong to take the BCC and BOB. I was delighted to hear she later topped the who entry to take BIS, congratulations
2nd Ch Swansford Padmeadora JW (Mr D Roberts) Another daughter of the dcc winner out of the top drawer, equally as well constructed and well presented as 1 with impressive movement to match. Correctly shaped head with beautiful dark eyes, strong jaw and intelligent expression. Well balanced in outline with lovely neck, super front assembly, well ribbed back to short loin, strong rear, good topline, underline and clearance. Powered around the ring with accuracy and style. 1 was just making a little more of herself to take the class but I had no hesitation in calling her back to challenge for the RCC which she duly received. RBCC.
