I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the officers and committee for the invitation to judge at their Golden Anniversary show. First time at Stafford, and it all ran smoothly despite a few glitches. I had a lovely entry both numerically and in quality, so I was splitting hairs in some classes. To my very able steward Calum you kept everything running to order, thank you for your help, and to each and every one of the exhibitors that came along for my opinion.

1st: 3948 BENNETT, Mr D A & Mrs J Sh Ch Jesham Baronet

This is a super male from any angle. His outline is all Field, well balanced and noble. His head is well proportioned and well chiselled below the eyes which are the darkest hazel, giving such a soft expression. His neck is of good length and flows into his firm level topline. Fore quarters are well angled, with good return of upper arm that places his well boned legs well under his body. Chest is deep with well sprung ribs. Well-muscled rear quarters with stifles moderately bent all help to drive him around the ring with his long unhurried stride. All topped off with a beautifully presented liver jacket. BD BOB BV

1st: 3958 MOSS, Mrs Leanne Aus Ch Fieldspan An Unfinished Tale With Ewtor

Delightful 10 month black, head is developing well, balanced with good length of muzzle. Has lovely dept for his age, with decent angles both ends, topline is level and held on the move, he moves out well in profile but is still a bit loose coming and going. BP

1st: 3950 CROW, Mrs Susan & CROW, MR Ronald Elgert Bling Bling

Rising 2 years liver, whose head is masculine but just a little too broad in skull for my taste. His neck is of good length, has decent angles both ends. Has good depth of chest and well boned legs with tidy feet. His rear is well muscled, and he has a moderately bent stifle. He moves out well in profile but was just toeing in coming towards me.

1st: 3957 MOSEDALE, Mr R & MOSEDALE, Mrs Sarah & ROSSITER, M Sh Ch Elgert Disco Inferno At Knightsbay

Well balanced 6 ½ years black, pleasing head that is well proportioned. Gives an overall impression of nobility. Neck is of good length, his forequarters are well angled, he has ample forechest. Stands on straight well boned legs with tight round feet. Has lovely depth and substance. His rear quarters are correctly angled with good width of thigh. He moves with good reach and drive. Well-presented worthy Sh Champion. I just felt the Veteran Dog was tidier coming towards me in the challenge. RBD

2nd: 3959 MOSS, Mrs Leanne Gadhelic Jack Frost

Appealing liver roan, has a super head that is masculine with an endearing expression that comes from his lovely dark eyes. He’s well off for depth and forechest, decent angles both end, I would have liked a little more bend to his stifle, but he’s well muscled and moves out well showing good reach and drive.

1st: 3949 CROW, Mrs Susan & CROW, MR Ronald Elgert Lady Midnight

Charming black, whose head I preferred to that of 2, as its balanced with good eye shape and colour. She has decent angles both ends, I just find her a little too square so would have liked a touch more length to balance her. She has good depth of chest and she moves out well with drive.

2nd: 3954 MCVITTY, Ms M Sh Ch Sonnetend Faith

Appealing liver who’s overall shape I preferred to that of 1, feminine head, she has decent angles both ends, has good depth of chest with moderately sprung ribs, topline could be firmer, rear quarters are well muscled, she was sound on the move, but was just lacking some enthusiasm today.

1st: 3955 MCVITTY, Ms M Sonnetend Eternal Flame

Well presented liver of 3 years, petty head that is balanced with good skull to muzzle ratio. She has a good length of neck, holds a level topline with decent angles both ends.  

I’d have just liked a little more forechest, but she has enough depth and decent ribs. She moves with the correct unhurried gait.

2nd: 3962 WOODHOUSE, Mrs Stella & WOODHOUSE, Mr John Gadhelic Sunshine Girl At Halbadier

I found this 3 years liver bitch rangier than 1. Well-proportioned feminine head with good eye shape and colour. Her front is straight with good bone and feet. I’d like a little more depth, but she is firm with level topline. She’s a little straight in stifle, but her rear quarters are well muscled, she moves out well and was well presented.

1st: 3956 MOORE, Miss C Fantastic Field Shine Like A Diamond At Gadhelic JW

Delightful well-made liver bitch, she makes a good shape when stacked, her feminine head is well balanced, muzzle is long and lean, and her correct eye shape and colour contribute to her soft and noble expression. She has a super length of neck that leads into her firm level topline. Her shoulders are well laid with good return of upper arm, and she stands on straight well boned legs. She is well off for depth with moderately sprung ribs. Her rear quarters are of correct angulation, and she uses them well on the move as she moves with good reach and drive and shows off her unhurried gait. Pleased to award her BB and BOS

2nd: 3953 JONES, Mr G S & JONES, Mrs J C Sonnetend You Belong With Me At Pennybeck (ba2)

3 years liver who is a different stamp to 1 being of a smaller frame. Head is of reasonable proportions although she’s a little too deep in flew for my taste. She has a good length of neck with decent body proportions; she holds her topline on the move. She moves well but was just a little narrow all through.

A very attractive black of good breed type, appealing feminine head, that has plenty of work in it giving her a lovely gentle expression. She has a pleasing silhouette, super muscular neck that flows into her firm topline, decent angles both ends. Id have liked a little more forechest, ok for depth and rib, she has good width of thigh and her rear quarters are well muscled, she moved out well once settled RBB.
