Japanese Akita Inu Club

Breed: Japanese Akita Inu

It was a huge honour to of been asked to judge the SAC's at this historic event, being the first UK championship show for the breed. The presentation and atmosphere around the show was really quite something. Thank you to each and every owner who entered under me - I hope you all had a wonderful day. A big shout out to the committee with my special packed lunch and beautiful gift.

Specials A - Junior Dog or Bitch(6,3)

1st Bennett - Seijitsu Chizuru. 8 months red fawn bitch. A truly lovely bitch, who surely has great things to come - even if she gave her handler a hard time today. Most lovely head. Cheeks well filled. Dark, obliquely set eyes, giving such a typical expression. Correct in ears, and good length of neck. Good lay of shoulder and upper arm. Level, strong back. Lovely tail, of correct set and good length. Giving a lovely overall balance. Still needs to tighten in the rear, but I'm sure that will come with time. One to watch!

2nd Buckley - Matsukita Akira Go. 7 month red fawn bitch. Really close up to winner. Slightly longer in muzzle, but not looking snipey as she has great cheeks. Lovely front with enough bone and really nice tight feet. Good overall proportions, and nice angles front and rear. Another who needs to tighten, but that will come with age!

3rd Loca - Kimetsu Amayori Go. White 15 month old bitch. Lovely pigmentation for a white. Nice eye. Slightly tall in ear. Good shoulder placement. Well developed in rib. A little shorter in back, not giving her quite the overall balance to the younger competitors here today.

Specials B - Open Dog (6,2)

1st Duffield - HR CH Meiho Kensha Akioshiro Go SW25. 2 year old red fawn dog. Really not difficult to fault this male seriously. He has the most exquisite head, with a lovely eye and ear. Good strong neck into well placed shoulders. Standing on good bone, without losing his elegance. Tight, rounded feet. Excellent rib, which comes right back with a nice short, strong loin. He is so well conditioned, which shows in his effortless movement. A joy to judge!

2nd Bennett - MULTI/INT CH Seijitsu Amafumi Go Tsoyu DW24 AN CH25. 5 year old red fawn dog. Gave the winner a real run for his money. Although a little smaller all round, I loved his overall outline, he is so well balanced. Great angles front and back. Lovely tight feet. I just felt his rear movement was quite as accurate as the winner today, but another outstanding boy!

3rd Pike & Carter - Tsoyu Wakahiko Go Breezelyn. 19 month old dog.

Specials C - Open Bitch (8,2)

1st Thompson, Chapman & Carter - Tsoyu Urakohime Go. 4 year old brindle bitch. I thought she was really quite something, and a super special find! I loved everything about her. Her expression and attitude screamed breed type. Her front was so well put together, with a well developed forechest and a good spring to rib. Her loin was short and strong and her topline was held level throughout. Her tail complimented her head carriage very well and she had wonderful angles front and back. Just such a sound bitch. Congratulations!

2nd Duffield - HR CH Meiho Kawai Hana Go SW25. 4 year old red fawn bitch. Extremely feminine bitch, but still possessing that higher worth attitude. Loved her head, with a beautiful dark eye, of correct shape and size. Good shoulders and standing on good bone. Moved very well, just not quite the overall balance of the winner for me today.

3rd Pike & Carter - Tsoyu Yuizuki Go Breezelyn BEL JCH BW'25 DW'25. 19 month old brindle bitch. Smaller bitch all round but her construction is so well put together. I just preferred the eye and expression on 1 and 2.
