Crufts

Many thanks to the Crufts committee for the invitation to judge at this prestigious show, also many thanks to the stewards who did a great job making sure things went smoothly making my day so easy.

Firstly, an overview of the dogs judged compared to previous appointments. All dogs were fit & well, temperaments were excellent & all showed with enthusiasm. Both heads & mouths were good. The main fault I found was the length. The first line of the breed standard requires a compact built hound and the majority were not. Short ribs and long loins seems to be the norm resulting in “dippy” topline when moving & stacked.

Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Dog

1. Websters Rossut Vizier for Houndscoast - good moving dog with typical head & expression. Good pigment & eye colour. Correct skull & leather placement. Slightly upright in shoulder. Moved well in profile & out & back. Worthy winner of this class.

2. GIles-Wyatt’s Clarismore Crown Prince - close up to 1. Good head, skull & pigment. Shoulders ok. Good topline & tailset . Not quit so positive in movement as 1.

3. Lovatt’s Bjornhagen Sweet Bayleaf

Minor Puppy Dog

1. Harvards Annavah Top Notch - Top quality youngster. Had a great head & expression. Good bone. Good mover in profile having the require reach & drive. Level topline & correct tailset. I’m sure he has a great future.

2. Evans’ Bellvalley Nickelback - Very raw puppy. Up to size and at the moment is narrow all through. Good head & pigment. Moved well.

Puppy Dog

1. Beards’ Kellitcreed Mrs Doubtfire - Well presented young male with masculine head, correct skull, shoulders & ear placement. Correct tailset. Moved well in profile & on the out & back. Won this class on overall quality.

2. Daniels’ Milchelroy Earl Grey - Balanced head, good expression and pigment. Shoulders well placed, ample neck, good topline. Moved well. Close up to 1.

3. Jones & Jepsons’ Soletrader Mister Maker of Eardley

Junior Dog

1. Hardistys’ Blunderhall Jackson - Quality male. Compactly built. Good expression & pigment. Well proportioned head. Correct topline and tailset . Moved well and with drive. Easy class winner.

2. Vervoots’ Under T Mdnite Moon From Elly’s Pack - Compact & well balanced male with correct head proportions and good pigment. Good neck and shoulders. Moved well with good topline and tailset

Yearling Dog

1. Khizanishvilis’ Simonaland Magnat - RCC - Outstanding youngster who really catches the eye. He is the correct size & has great proportions. His head is correct as is his expression. Short backed with correct tailset. Good angulation both front & rear. Good front & moved with drive & purpose. His handler did a fantastic job to complete the picture. It was a pleasure to award him the RCC. I shall watch this one with interest.

1. Taylor’s’ Rosanka O’Neal by Deaconfield - Correct sized male who looks a bit of a handful! Really sound mover with good head & expression. Straight front. If anything I would prefer a better stifle. He presented a typical beagle attitude!

2. Quanticks’ Parkebreeway Rumour - Good moving male. balances head with correct earset. Pleasing expression, good layback of shoulder, good topline. Close up to 1.

3. Vervoots’ Dazzling Deejay From Elly’s Pack

Limit Dog

1. Fellows’ Rosanka Bridges - Quality sound moving male who presented a pleasing overall picture. He has a good head & eye colour. Correct shoulders & upper arm. Moved well in profile & out & back. Litter brother to the previous class winner  who also displayed typical beagle attitude!

2. Perremans’ Dreamy Boy Druzyna Uszatych - Compact male with pleasing head & expression. Good front, shoulders & topline. Correct tailset. Good turn of stifle & moved with purpose & drive. Close up to 1.

3. Banks’ Forgebanks Santiono

Open Dog

Without a doubt the best class of males & have ever judged

1. Backs’ Maliwicks Folklore. CC & BOB - caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. On the initial go-around, he moved so well it was difficult to take my eyes off him. On the table he didn’t disappoint. Well proportioned head with dark eyes and a great expression. Good neck, compact body and good tailset. On the floor he moved like a dream with good reach and drive and holding his shape. His handler made a great job with him which added to the overall picture. I would take him home in a heart beat. I was pleased to award him the CC & BOB

2. Parker and Steven’s’ Ch. Serenaker Armani - Great moving male who impressed with his reach and drive. Didn’t disappoint on the table. He has a  well proportioned head, dark eyes & a soft expression. Shoulders were good. Well ribbed chest, strong topline & well set tail. He moved at one with his handler. Very unlucky to meet 1.

3. Jayes’ Ch Rossut Zavier at Sandylands

Veteran Dog

1. Raymonds’ Ch/Ger Ch Dialynne Peter Piper - Best Veteran - beautifully presented 10 year old male. All male without any coarseness. Good head and eye & correct topline & tailset. Moved soundly and with enthusiasm. Happy to award him Best Veteran

2. Taylor’s’ Ch Deaconsfield Kingcraft - Male with great attitude, enjoying life to the full. Kept his handler on her toes. Quality head with good neck and front. GOod rear angles. Slightly longer cast than ideal. Noticed his progeny won 3 classes included the bitch CC.

3. Phillips & Keynes’ Lanesend Segenhoe

Good Citizen Scheme Bitch.

1. Keepence-Keynes’ Redcap Northern Lights over Alanobel - Honest bitch who moved well. Pretty head with good expression and kind eyes. Good front & level topline. Won the class on movement

2. Arden’s Annavah Star Above Madika - Another bitch who moved well. Decent head & expression. Good head pigment and eye colour. Topline & tailset were excellent. Overall quality bitch

3. Davis’ Lilleagle Whisky’s Binnie

Minor Puppy Bitch

1. Breezes’ Parkebreeway Buckle Bunny - youngster who enjoyed her day out. Quality head and expression, dark eyes, correct ear placement. Good shoulders, topline & tailset. Moved well. Slightly more mature than her litter sister in 2nd

2. Turtons’ Parkebreeway Broken Rick - same comments apply as 1 but lost out to maturity

1. Jones and Jepsons’ EardleyShake your Booty - Best Puppy - Ultra smart youngster.Pretty head and expression with kind eyes. Good neck and front with a super topline and tailset. Good rear angulation. Shown in super condition and moved well in profile and out and back. Loved her. Pleased to award her Best Puppy in Breed

2. Beards’ Kellitcreed Tickety Boo - Another quality bitch - good head but due to a lack of pigment around the eyes made her expression slightly less appealing. Good ear placement, topline & tailset . Super sound movement in profile & out & back

3. Goldbergs’ Molesend Linnet

1. Ardens’ Madika Shine On - RCC - Youngster who showed like a hero on a loose lead. Pretty head with lovely expression. Good neck and shoulders. Great ribcage for age. Short coupled. Very fit with well muscled quarters. Sound on the move. Never stopped showing herself off. Well deserved RCC

2. Pauxs’ Alice Aux Pays Fou De La Meute D’Asterion - Quality youngster who moved soundly both ways. Lovely expression and dark eyes. Good neck, nice front, topline and tailset. Moved well both ways

2. Goldberg’s’ Ch Molesend Impish - Another quality youngster.  Nicely proportioned with dark eyes & good earset. EVerything in the right place. Moved well but not as enthusiastically as 1.

1. Mitchell and Wrights’ Parkebreeway Parsnip at Huntshill - Good, honest type of hitch. She has a good head and expression. Adequate neck into well laid shoulders. Good ribbing and short coupling with a well set tail. Moved soundly to win this class.

2. Halse and Griffins’ Clarismore Harlequin Lady - Feminine headed bitch with a good neck, shoulders & level topline. Good bone & feet. Presented in lovely condition

3. Scarletts’ Vanitonia Enchanted Over Mitchelroy

Mid Limit Bitch

1. Rouvroys’ Violetta De Maxcecan - Pretty bitch of correct size. Lovely dark eyes. Level topline, short coupled, good tailset. Mover soundly

2. Taylor’s’ Rosanka Harlow by Deaconsfield - another quality beagle from this mating. Pretty head & expression. Well laid shoulders into good front. Well ribbed but slightly longer cast than the winner

3. Jones and Jepsons’ Eardley Smartypants

LImit Bitch

1. Fellows’ Rosanka Deneuve - CC - Headed a quality class of bitches - Beautiful head which is balanced and typical and exactly what it should be. Super neck and shoulders. Excellent ribbing and short coupling coupled. Both rear angulation and tailset good. Where she came into her own was on the move. The more she moved the better she went, holding her shape and with her accurate footfall, it was great to watch. Happy to award her the CC, her second and hope her title is not far off.

2. Harvards’ Annavah Teardrop - most of the comments of 1 apply, however, not as accurate movement cost her the class

1. Harvard’s’ Annavah Princess Tiana - a hugely successful bitch headed a quality class a well deserved. Beautiful head and expression . Topline, tailset and rear angulation all good making her a classic shape when stacked. She moved well in the class but not quite so well in the challenge which cost her further honours

2. Foster and Jones’ Ch Stormpasture Rockette - Another quality bitch of correct size and shape. Beautiful head and expression. Straight front with good topline and tailset. Moved well. Close up to 1.

3. Goldbergs’ Ch Molesend Jazzy

Veteran Bitch

1. Davies’ Barrvale Grace - You only need to look at her head to realise she is a Barrvale, so typical of this longstanding  kennel. Beautiful head and expression with dark eyes. Moved well and headed a class of quality oldies.

2. McLain and Steven’s’ Redcap Bella Sorella - Feminine bitch who moved well. Liked her head. Correct eye colour. Level topline. Enjoyed her day out.

3. Keepence & Keynes’ Redcap Northern Lights over Alandobel
