7 m/o chocolate and white male, head is developing, good pigmentation, would prefer a darker eye but his are perfectly within breed standard. Well angulated front and rear, nice overall size but still a bit loose throughout which is to be expected for his age, rather exuberant but moved out well when settled with a smooth ground covering action showing good reach and drive.

Good overall size and balance, well muscled with strong loin and moved out soundly in all directions. An exuberant young man who is very attentive to his handler, beautifully presented in full coat.

15 m/o black and white, attractive head and expression, stronger than 1 with a deeper defined stop, correct shaped dark eye, expressive ears used well to show attentiveness. Well off for bone and shown in good coat and condition, didn't quite have the fluidity of 1 on the move

Good overall size and balance, well muscled with strong loin and thighs and good slope over croup, moved out with good reach and drive when he settled. Presented in excellent condition.

 20 m/o black and white that I have judged as a puppy, another lovely dark head of correct proportions and eye shape/colour, good use of semi-erect ears. Not at all disimilar in type to 1, he's a good sized athletic young male, beautifully presented, moved out soundly in all directions but just preferred the reach of 1 on the move

2 ½ y-o black and white that I have judged as a puppy and again as a yearling and as I expected, he just keeps improving with age and maturity. Lovely head with a dark oval eye and appealing expression. Good overall size and substance, he has a lovely reach of neck, well angled shoulders with an excellent return of upper arm, strong muscular loin with the correct sloping croup and well balanced rear angles, he presents a lovely outline on the stack and moves out with purposeful reach and drive.

2nd: 298 TUNNICLIFF, Mr R E & TUNNICLIFF, Mrs A Littlethorn Kona

2 year old black and white, a little smaller overall than 1 but a nice type, correct head and eye, good use of semi-erect ears. He is well balanced overall and moved out with purpose but I would just prefer a little more substance all over.

What a lovely class this was to judge and I was pleased to find a number of males with the overall balance, good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm that I was looking for, something that is so important for the stealthy, smooth and tireless movement that is an absolute requirement of this breed.

1st: 233 BARRATT, Mrs Julie C Pendleway Time Lord

5 y-o black and white, very much on his toes and making his handler work hard today. What lovely breed type this boy is, he has a lovely masculine head of correct proportions without being overdone, very classic head pattern, correct shape dark eye and semi-erect ears he uses well. Good overall size and substance with sufficient bone without appearing coarse. Strong neck of good length onto a well laid shoulder with excellent front angulation that is balanced in the rear, good level topline and well muscled which translated into that typical breed movement, low head carriage with good reach and drive and minimal foot lift, powered out really well today despite the heat.

2nd: 296 BARWICK, Mrs E A Tobermoray Touch Of Class JW

2 y-o black and white, another young male of lovely breed type, correct head proportions and a lovely dark eye, semi-erect ears used well to demonstrate his attentiveness, beautifully balanced boy with a lovely front and rear assembly, well muscled throughout, moved out with good reach and drive but didn't quite match the power of 1 today

3rd: 227 ALEXANDER, Mrs Julia & TURNER, Mrs Heather & MACDO Locheil Freeze Frame (ai)

2 ½ y-o black and white, textbook construction and lovely to go over with excellent front and rear angulation but didn't drive out as well as 1 and 2 today.

As with the previous class, I was spoiled for choice here, again pleased to find a number of males with the overall balance, construction and movement I was looking for.

5 y-o black and white, this lad is the complete package and could not be denied the CC today. A strong masculine head of correct proportions, dark eye of correct oval shape, strong arched neck of good neck running into a well laid shoulder and excellent return of upper arm, well balanced throughout with correct proportions, strong loin and well angulated hindquarters, lovely turn of stifle onto well let down hocks, he is impressive on the stack but even more so on the move, powering out with that effortless breed typical movement, reach and drive with minimal lift of foot and a smooth level outline. Presented in immaculate coat and condition and handled beautifully. DCC

7 y-o black and white, a taller and more athletic type to 1 but with many of the same qualities. Another strong masculine head, attractive dark face with correct eye shape and colour, high set semi erect ears that he uses well to show off his keen and alert attitude. A good length of neck, well arched onto a well laid shoulder and excellent return of upper arm, well muscled throughout with a strong loin and correct sloping croup, good rear angles and another demonstrating that powerful but efficient breed typical movement, beautifully handled and presented. 6 y-o black and white, shorter on the leg than 1 or 2 but with many of the same qualities, well balanced angles front and rear and a lovely outline on the stack with smooth effortless sidegait. Well presented and handled.

8 y-o tricolour, another I have judged before and he never disappoints. A good sized male. Correct well proportioned head, oval brown eyes to match his coat colour, fully erect ears used well to demonstrate his keenness. Super reach of neck, lay of shoulder and return of upper arm, balanced rear angles and a good level topline make for a pleasing balanced outline, he's a handful on the move with a powerful gait showing excellent reach and drive.

2nd: 287 SHAHMATOVA, Dr M Nashdom Putting On The Style Jw ShCEx

8 y-o black and white, attractive head with correct eye shape and colour, well balanced throughout, smaller in stature and more compact than 1 he moved out soundly and smoothly in all directions but couldn't match 1 for reach and drive.

4 y-o black and white male, another I have judged before. Masculine head of correct proportions, correct eye and semi erect ears giving a lovely alert expression. Good reach of neck and a decent shoulder, good length of loin with a nice sloping croup, moved well in all directions, when he settles down into his movement he shows good reach and drive.

4 y-o blue tricolour bitch, lots to like about this girl, she's finer in bone and a more athletic type but very sound throughout. Pretty feminine head with correct eye shape and colour for her coat, semi-erect ears showing alertness and very attentive to handler, nicely angulated and well balanced, presents a lovely picture on the stack and sound in all directions, just didn't move out with the same power and drive as 1 today.

6 m-o black and white, very much a baby but so much to like about her. Beautifully proportioned head, so very feminine, appealing dark face with a dark oval eye, up and tipped ears which she uses well, shows real alertness and confidence. Good reach of neck into a well laid shoulder with good front angulation, level topline that flows into balanced rear assembly, lovely sloping croup and a good length of tail. Such an easy flowing movement with a textbook sidegait, a little ‘loose’ to and away right now but that will come as she matures and muscles up. Such a promising puppy, really looking forward to seeing how she develops. BPIB

Good length of neck and lay of shoulder with matching return of upperarm, good level topline which she holds on the move leading to a well sloped croup and balanced rear angulation. Moves very well in all directions with good reach and drive.

11 m/o black and white. A pretty girl with a nice feminine head and alert expression. Finer in bone to one and didn't quite have the front angulation or movement to match.

Very much liked the overall picture of this 22 m/o black and white girl on the stack, she has a lovely well proportioned head with expressive up and tipped ears, correct eye shape and colour, balanced angles and a lovely reach of neck and shoulder but didn't move out quite as well as 1 today

2 y/o black/white who caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring, ultra feminine with well proportioned head, correct dark oval shaped eye and expressive semi-erect ears, lovely length of neck leading to a good lay of shoulder and equal return of upper arm, good level topline leading to a lovely slope of croup and good length of tail. Well balanced proportions and angulation throughout, sufficient amount of bone for a bitch without appearing too heavy but really came into her own on the move, sound in all directions, moving out with effortless reach and drive and showing the breed typical footfall with minimum lift. 3 y/o black/white with the most beautiful head and gentle expression, dark oval eyes and semi-erect ears, she is moderate throughout but has lovely balanced angles and a pleasing outline that she held well on the move, moved out soundly with reach and drive

What an absolute treat this class was to judge with so many exhibits displaying the qualities I was looking for.

1st: 262 LEE, Miss B & RATCLIFFE, Miss J Sh Ch Arrodare Showdown JW

5 y/o black and white and what a showgirl she is, presents a lovely outline both on the free stack and on the move. Ultra feminine head and expression with correct head proportions, a lovely dark oval eye and high-set semi-erect ears she uses well, keen and attentive at all times. She has a good length and well arched neck leading onto a lovely lay of shoulder and matching length and angle of upper arm, so well balanced. Correct depth of chest, strong level topline and well muscled loin with a sloping croup and good length of tail presents a lovely smooth sweeping line from head to tailtip. Correct amount of bone, strong but not heavy, legs parallel when viewed from in front and behind, strong sloping pasterns and well let down hocks. This girl really comes into her own on the move reaching out with effortless power and drive giving the impression she could go all day which won her this class, BCC and ultimately BOB

2nd: 263 LEE, Miss B & RATCLIFFE, Miss J Sh Ch Arrodare Rebel With A Cause JW

5 y/o black and white, litter sister to 1 and one I have judged and done well for before, these two are so evenly matched in attitude, type, construction and movement but I just preferred the length in upperarm and fractional added reach in movement on 1. Beautifully presented and handled and another very nice bitch that I would happily take home though.

Good reach of neck and a lovely lay of shoulder and return of upperarm, level topline and lovely sloping croup and length of tail, well balanced in outline and on the move, moved out with that breed typical effortless ‘daisy cutting’ movement with good reach and drive. Attractive 7 y/o black/white, a little heavier in bone than 1 and with a slightly stronger head but still feminine throughout, correct eye shape and colour and semi-erect ears that she uses well make for a keen and alert expression. Good strong neck and a nice lay of shoulder, strong level topline and well balanced rear with a good turn of stifle and good strong hocks. Wider in front than one as often happens after maternal duties but moves out with real purpose and drive, beautifully handled and presented but couldn't quite match 1 for reach on the move today.
